Just recently had their cake for our wedding. Taste soooo good!! I am still getting calls from my guests asking where that cake ordered from. I was kinda in last minute to order but Ms. Kim Paolozzi helped me so nicely and kindly to get my order placed. If you looking for wedding cake, save your time go with these guys. They were running a bit behind and asked for a few extra minutes to put them together. The selection of other baked goods looked amazing, and I got an Everything Cookie (which was delicious) and a drip coffee, which was well balanced and given to me for free as an apology for asking me to wait. The products are tasty. The service was friendly. The prices are reasonable. I will definitely be back!

Absolutely loved our wedding cake. The cake designer really listened to what I wanted and brought it to life. My only negative thing is that they forgot to include the 2nd flavor we really wanted but the strawberry and cream was delicious! All of our guests loved the cake!

We had such a great experience with Vanilla Bake Shop. My in-laws wanted a cake that was similar to their wedding cake for their 50th anniversary. Mia was very helpful on the phone, helping us figure out the best way to get this cake made, given that our photos were very grainy. We were able to find a picture online of a cake we wanted the bakery to make, and they did a beautiful job reproducing it! We picked up the cake today, and Mia packaged it very nicely for us. We got to enjoy the cake this evening, and everyone couldn’t stop talking about how delicious it was. Thanks for helping make the occasion so special!

I had to order 50 cupcakes for a work event last week and it was a huge hit. Great service and even better cupcakes. My favorites were the meyer lemon raspberry and the fluer de sel cupcakes. Both are filled and both moist and delicious. I got to take some leftover cupcakes home and my kid quickly devoured the southern red velvet if that gives you any indication to their yumminess. The only cupcake I didn't love was the bittersweet dark chocolate. The fluer de sel kicks its butt. Cupcakes: 5/5 Service: 5/5

The cake pops, mini cupcakes, cakes etc were all delicious! Everything tasted fresh with higher quality ingredients. The cake is very dense so you can slice it extremely thin and it'll still hold up well to feed more people than suggested and it's still more than enough. The cake doesn't crumble or fall apart.

There aren't enough words! I contacted VBS with a last minute request for a small cake and they were so lovely ! They were kind, made sure they understood what I wanted and they created something so gorgeous and DELICIOUS! They let me customize colors and worked with me back and forth until it was perfect. The blackberry dulce is above and beyond so yummy and the cake itself was a work of art! Highly recommend :)

I got my friends some celebration mini cupcakes for her birthday and they were very cute and packaged in a tiny cardboard box. The cake was fluffy and not too sweet and it was topped with confetti sprinkles. You need to order 24 hours in advance (or 48h) please check!

Stopped by Vanilla Bake Shop and got 4 cupcakes: red velvet, pumpkin spice, blackberry passionfruit, and chocolate with a salted caramel filling. WOW! The "stuffed" cupcakes were the real standouts! The blackberry passionfruit had a delicious light, but flavorful frosting and was packed inside with refreshing passionfruit. Probably the best cupcake I've had in years! The salted caramel filling inside the chocolate cupcake was also a wonderful pairing. The cashier also packaged them very nice and secure, so they wouldn't fall over on the drive home.

Food: 5 stars Service: 5 stars Value: 4 stars Ambiance: 5 stars Adorable shop with reasonable prices and fantastic tasting baked goods. I've ordered several cakes here and been impressed with all of them. Some people have said it's the best cake they've had. I'm also a huge fan of their cupcakes, and recently tried their adorable mini pies and cookies. All are great, although the cookies here tend to be fairly overpriced.

Super cute bake shop located in the heart of Santa Monica. It is located off of wilshire in SM so be prepared to look for metered street parking. As soon as I walked in, i was greeted by the sweet lady and was offered her help if I had any questions. They have a variety of goods including cupcakes and macaroons! I came here to get some birthday cupcakes for a friend. I got her a box of 6 cupcakes including: vanilla bean, southern red velvet, mom's birthday cake, key lime, strawberries and cream, and chocolate peanut butter. The cupcakes were so beautifully made and delicious! They were put in a box and wrapped with ribbon which i absolutely loved cause it was the perfect touch of cuteness! Love love love! Will definitely be stopping by here again for future birthdays!

Yummy I almost forgot about Vanilla Bake Shop and very happy this bakery survived during COVID! I preordered a 6 inch red velvet cake on their website- very easy. Then you select a pickup time - very simple! The red velvet with buttercream frosting was divine - not too sweet, very moist and truly decadent! It says the cake feeds 6-8 people but we had 1/2 the cake left over- very happy about that! I highly recommend Vanilla Bake Shop!

My favorite bakery! I always order small cakes but I love coming here for a coffee and cupcake. The lemon blueberry is my favorite. They recently made my sons dream cake and it was AMAZING! Delicious and beautiful!

First time ordering and trying this bake shop. I had to pick up a cake for a surprise birthday dinner and having to be the one with the birthday boy the day of. Pick up was out of the question. Found them on yelp as I needed somewhere close to where we were going. Ordered it online which was simple and easy. The selections of pastries that they offered all looked amazing. Going through the selections of cakes wasn't a good idea....lol.... It makes you just want to order everything and try it all. Keeping it simple, I went with the classic white cake with fruit filling and fruit topping. Not knowing what it would look like and picked it out based on photos. But when it was picked up and brought to the restaurant, it was classic and elegant. The fruits were all fresh and the flavor of the cake was amazing. I ordered the 6 in and there was 7 of us. That was plenty of cake for the group and slices were a good amount. Cake was full of flavor and the presentation was beautiful. I will be a returning customer as now I would love to try everything else that they have to offer.

Went here on a Wednesday afternoon to grab a cake for my dad's birthday dinner. I called ahead and it took a little longer than I'd expect for them to answer the phone, but the person who did answer was kind and helpful. They let me know they had a funfetti cake in stock which is what I was calling about. Parking is okay, meters on the side of the building. The inside is bright and what you'd expect from a cake shop. They rang me up and were quick to package my cake delicately. The cake was delicious. Everyone enjoyed it. Looked beautiful, nice sprinkle ratio and frostings wasn't overly sweet. I'd grab a cake here again.

Really love this bakery! They're banana chocolate chip cake is basically a banana chocolate chip bread in cupcake with great buttercream frosting. They're chocolate chip cookies are on point too Things here is fairly priced for a bakery and I'm definitely coming back for seconds

Vanilla Bake Shop made my wedding cake in May and it was a hit, so when my husband and I got pregnant and were looking for a special way to tell our immediate family we were having a son, this bakery was the obvious choice for our gender reveal cake. The cake turned out delicious but we only narrowly avoided a serious disappointment. I initially called Vanilla Bake Shop and asked for baby blue sheet cake with white frosting on the outside and made a point to tell the woman I spoke with that this was a gender reveal cake. Later that week, I called back to add an inscription to the cake and was asked to confirm I wanted a vanilla cake with blue exterior frosting. The first woman I talked to had written my order down incorrectly. Had I not called, the surprise, along with my vision for the gender reveal of our first child, would've been completely ruined. This is not as big of a deal, but still worth noting, when the cake was cut, it most certainly was not the baby blue color I'd specified and more of a deep turquoise. When you're paying $72 for a small, very simple cake, you should get what you asked for.

Stellar work every time for all the custom birthday cakes I've requested throughout the years! This last time, Mireya (spelling?) went over and beyond in accommodating us by checking with the manager and ensuring that our cake would be designed exactly as we wished by the time that we needed it. I'm not sure how they pulled it off but then again, I shouldn't be so surprised as they churn out BEAUTIFUL/IMPECCABLE cakes time and time again. Their standards are extremely high and they won't do the job unless they know it'll be 110% perfect. Thankfully, they've never disappointed.

I ordered a batch of macarons from this shop for a friend. I'm currently on the east coast and wanted to buy some for my friend in LA via GrubHub and honestly had the best experience. The macaroons were amazing too, as you will read later on. I ordered 6 macarons from their Yelp menu to send to my friend. I think the flavours were chocolate, pistachio, strawberry, raspberry, caramel, and vanilla bean. There was a small issue since they didn't have some of the flavours I had originally ordered so they called me and we settled it all pretty soon. The macarons were delivered to my friend's house about 30 minutes after the order was placed, which is fairly quick in my opinion. The stars I gave are based on my experience with ordering and delivery, and my friend's experience eating the macarons. Here are some things he had to say about them: "Golden delights from heavenly nectar" "Soft and sumptuous, the macarons (from Vanilla Bake Shop) transport one to the cafes of Paris or the fields of Provence where one ending their feast on a high note of confectionery magnificence. Finish your first scrumptious macaron then your satisfaction rebirths in the knowledge that your box of delectable delicacies is not yet empty as you explore each distinctive flavor with the verve of unwrapping birthday presents." "I remember they were really good" sooo it's fair to say I'll definitely try out this place myself when I'm back in LA!! I definitely would recommend this place to friends, especially bc of his raving review^ also I got the pistachio flavour bc I read great reviews about it on Yelp and he said they didn't disappoint so try the pistachio macaron! :)

I haven't been to one of these in years since the Century City location shut down during their huge renovation about five years ago. Appropriately so, i would hit this bakery after going to the gym, which to me made complete sense since I burned off those calories, I might as well add them back on in the best way possible. When I visited this Santa Monica location, it was on a Thursday, so my choices were cookies and cream, and a vanilla bean. These were okay; for some reason, I remember them being better in the past, but I guess since I've had so many other bakery items since, these were lost in translation for me. Simply out, the icing was a bit too much for me. Don't get me wrong; if someone brought these in, I would certainly help myself, but they just wouldn't be my first initial selection. Cute shop and friendly workers, most likely you'll find something to enjoy here.

We brought their banana chocolate chip and s'mores cake with salted caramel to our daughter's baby shower at her in-laws in Burbank - and the guests absolutely raved about the cakes. So, so good. We're lucky to have this fantastic bakery right here in Santa Monica.

We walked over from 3rd street promenade. I ordered the dark chocolate cupcake. It was so moist and delicious. Definitely satisfied my dessert craving after an early dinner.

The company I worked for ordered two cakes here - a red velvet and a passion fruit creme cake. Walking in to the shop, their cupcakes sounded great and I wish I had tried them. The cakes they had on display were beautiful. Both cakes were subpar. The biggest disappointment was the frosting. It was disappointing and tasted like fake cardboard. The cake on both cakes weren't dry and they were just okay. The texture was good however. The highlight of both cakes was the passion fruit creme cake - the passion fruit curd was delicious and had a strong passion fruit flavor and the raspberries were sweet. Overall, the cakes were disappointing. Although they look amazing, they don't taste all that special. There's numerous options in the area such as Sweet Lady Jane or SusieCakes so I'd rather go there.

I was looking for a small cake and found VBS online. I ordered the sampler box first which was a really fun and convenient way to sample the flavors and frostings. The packaging was also super pretty. I ended up ordering a 6 inch fresh floral cake with dark chocolate cake, cream cheese frosting on the inside and vanilla buttercream on the outside. The cake was moist and delicious. The buttercream was smooth and creamy and not overly sweet. I've also tried their caramel bar. I don't even like caramel but that was probably my favorite. You will not be disappointed. The staff was also incredibly friendly and answered all my questions (Mireya). I will definitely be back for other treats!

I was referred by Lido bakery because they were fully booked for orders. I was not disappointed at all! Both cake turn out beautiful! And taste good. My cake was kinda damage due to my toddler. My mistake for not taking pictures right away. Well he just add a little touch of unforgettable memories lol! No biggy! What are toddlers for?! Right?! Heh! Easy communication and they are very attentive to details. The only thing it wasn't five star is the distance and the traffic. It wasn't the place. If you live close to this place. It will be perfect for you. Another thing is they open late so it's really hard to avoid traffic.

This place has really gone downhill. I used to visit their Pasadena and Santa Monica locations often primarily for cupcakes and cakes (Pasadena location is now closed). When it came time to choose a bakery for my engagement party cake I felt confident about choosing Vanilla. But that was a huge mistake. I chose a design from their website that combined two very simple designs (fondant flowers and gold veiling) into a white round cake. I wrote a detailed email specifying what I requested as far as the cake specs and attached photos. You'd think choosing designs from their website is the way to go because presumably they can recreate something they've already made. Well... more on that later. I even talked to the "design and sales manager" before putting in the order to ensure they could create what I would like, as I knew this would be an important and special occasion for me and I needed the cake to look good. The sales manager is slow to reply and I had to call the shop and leave a message for her to just get back to me to process my order since it was getting close to the date of my engagement party and I still had no idea if they were going to do my cake. So that should have been a red flag. I know everywhere is busy but this is a simple request. I ended up paying $350 for a 10 inch engagement cake from them, which is the most I've ever spent on a cake. But I figured it would be worth it. I couldn't not have been more wrong. When I went to pick up the cake, it did not look like the inspiration photos/what we had discussed. It looked like a simple round cake from a grocery store that someone added a few fondant flowers to and painted on gold lines like watercolor (no marbling, and no gold in the center of the flowers as I asked for). I asked the ladies working there if they could add more fondant flowers because it looked super bare. They said they didn't have any because they are "special order," still not sure what that means. So basically I had to take the cake home as-is. The design is one thing. But the worst part was when I served the cake, which was stored exactly as I was instructed to. The cake was nearly impossible to cut through because the fondant was super thick and chalky. The fondant flowers crumbled while being served. Worst of all, the inside of the cake was actively collapsing as I was cutting it and barely made it off the cake stand and into a plate. On the plate it looked like sloppy mush. I was beyond mortified. I did not want to serve this to my guests. Thank God we had another cake otherwise I would have had NO CAKE for my engagement party. We threw the cake from Vanilla straight into the garbage. After I reached out explained what happened with the design and the total lack of quality the owner refunded me. But she did try to explain away why it happened and claimed this has never happened before. I don't believe that for a second. And it is really not important why it happened. Neither of these things matter because neither of them magically undo the horrible experience of cutting this cake in front of our guests and then being unable to serve it. Word to the wise - I would never ever recommend anyone order a special occasion or wedding cake from here. You have only ONE moment to make an impact in photos and amongst your guests, and you don't want to take a chance with a cake that is not what you envisioned, looks like it was made poorly by a novice working at a grocery store but costs a few hundred dollars. Avoid avoid avoid. I can't believe this place allows cakes to leave the bakery looking the way they do.

Simply the greatest bakery in all of Los Angeles... Try the cupcakes so you get a feel for it, and then order a cake for your next special occasion. The truth is... the fleur de sel is apex mountain for the craft of baking in general. Take care, brush ya hair.

Omg the tollhouse whiskey pie is my new favorite dessert. Needed a dessert for Friendsgiving that would be different than the pumpkin pies and apple pies everyone had surely eaten the day before...plus I love chocolate chip cookies...So the tollhouse whiskey pie seemed like a good option. I wasn't sure what it was TBH but it looked like a giant cookie in the web pic - which it turned out to be BUT 100 times better. Seriously, it was that good. It is so incredibly decadent and a flavor explosion in your mouth. The SM store was understaffed on Saturday but called to let me know. Unfortunately, I drove right over after a spin class and didn't see the missed call til it was too late. They were so apologetic and offered to deliver it to me to make up for the inconvenience. The pie was delivered a few hours later and was still warm upon arrival. The pie is on the larger side and can easily serve 10-15 people, if not more. It is so rich that I ended up cutting it up into 1"x1" squares. Great dessert - and even better service. I will be ordering from here again. No doubt.

I never liked cake OR had a sweet tooth until my wedding! Now I crave my wedding cake all the time! THE Chocolate Candy Bar Cake IS AMAZING!!! I am ordering it for my birthday for sure and for our one-year anniversary! It was that delicious! We also ordered the Pink & Gold Marble Cake with French Macarons without the Macarons and it was so beautiful and tasted really good. Def no complaints! Pricing was beyond reasonable for what you get and both are on the website for way less and you get more than a custom-made cake. I had the perfect cake pictured all ready to show them but after going to their website I changed my mind. I shocked myself and I am so happy I gave in and didn't stick to what I thought I wanted. I was and still am so happy with the cakes from Vanilla Bake Shop! Even better looking in persona and the taste well 100 stars! PLEASE CLICK THE PICTURE SO YOU CAN SEE THE CAKES WE ORDERED! I am very proud of them! :-D

"Cake mommy, cake" and that's when I caved in and walked into the store. He saw their amazing looking cakes in the glass window and whined about it. The store is fairly small but has a lot of dessert on display. I asked about the pricing which wasn't very cheap but still reasonable for the location. 3 minis for $6.75 or 1 regular size for $3.75. The minis would be a great way to taste everything if your trying to buy a cake but unfortunately I am on a diet and I'm only trying to satisfy my baby craving. I got the Mothers Birthday Cake which is a white cake with a chocolate buttercream. The cashier recommended a dark chocolate cake with a vanilla filling and DC buttercream. Looked amazing but also looked messy and very heavy. Maybe I'll come back and try it. The frosting was to die for but the cake was a bit dry. The little guy enjoyed it and didn't mind. I on the other hand didn't enjoy it very much. Street metered parking is available right outside the store. The store seemed very clean. The cashier was nice.

Had a quick snack in the LAX International terminal. The baked goods looked sketchy and I should gone with my first impression. But I didn't - shame on me. AWFUL Like the wrapped pastries you see at a 7 Eleven. Disgraceful to let international travelers think this represents LA. Hope they lose their franchise at the airport

I stumbled across the amazing cake shop while I was walking down Wilshire. Just the shop itself is beautiful... it has cool wallpaper and chandeliers and everything is shiny and bright. But that is nothing compared to the gorgeous treats! They are gorgeous! And they taste even better than they look. They have cakes, mini pies, wedding cakes, cake pops, cupcakes, if it's out cakes, they have it! So happy I found Vanilla Bake Shop!

I'm very disappointed at the service in their place. I placed an order in advance with one of the girls at the register for cake pops and cupcakes for a baby shower and was going to order a cake but was not sure which one. The girl told me I would have until Thursday (today) to place my order to have it in time. However, I spoke with them today and they informed me that they never finalized the cake pops or the cupcake, and I will no longer be able to order the cake either, because I should have ordered by 3pm, which I was not informed of when I went in originally. I was in charge of all the desserts for the baby shower and now I will have NOTHING, so thanks for ruining the baby shower.

Picked up some treats for a friend! She loved. Unfortunately I went in the afternoon and they were out of most of the cupcakes. A few large walk in orders cleaned them out. If you want more selection on demand probably best to go earlier in day or order ahead. What I tried was great. It's a small sweet shop. Really good baking style, nicely done. My favorite hands down was the key lime pie. Super tangy tart with an excellent graham crust. I will be going back - still think about it!

TLDR: Pass. Mediocre + pricey We've lived here for a long time and hadn't tried this bakery because it seemed to cater more towards people who need cakes for special occasions, but my PT recently recommended it so we stopped in today after lunch. We walked in and waited a long while for help because there was a cake crisis happening. Not even kidding. But the cookies looked really good so we were willing to wait. We ordered a chocolate chip & toffee cookie and a dark chocolate cake pop. The cookie looked tasty, but it ended up being crumbly and tasted stale - like it was frozen and thawed. It was for sure not baked the same day. [I bake cookies from scratch often enough to easily tell the difference between a fresh cookie and one that is not.] The cake pop was good, but it's pretty hard to mess those up. Honestly, there are better places in the neighborhood if you're looking for something sweet and you don't want to bake something yourself.

Very dry. Horrible cake I was embarrassed of bring the cake to my friend's birthday party for $48 dollars. !! Wow!! Before You buy it they should tell you how old it's been sitting there for. A month ago I bought a dozen of cupcakes to send to New York and they were really good, but this cake should have not been sold. Sad that disappointed . I wanted to give you an update on my review. Got my refund they apologize and , I thought that's good enough for me, because lots of businesses don't care about doing the right thing, and I also like To a knowledge that they were nice when I told them about the issue and emailed me with a nice response.

Omg!!!! They are the BEST! My husband's 50th celebration was on Saturday and my baker call me on Thursday to tell me she was not able to make the cake. I called Vanilla Bake Shop in the morning hoping they can help me with the cake ( I was not expecting a : "Yes, we can help you" ) it was only two days before the celebration. I went to the SM location and talked with Amy directly, she helped me with rhe design, size and my love's favorite flavor ( she gave me a sample ) . Well, long story short, I picked up the cake Sat at noon and it was gorgeous! Everyone loved the cake and asked me who made it! Thank you soooo much! You really CARE about costumer service!!!

My advice: get ur cupcake(s) and walk it over to the beach. Sit on the pier, appreciate the look of each cupcake, take a slow bite, taste the flavors and enjoy the moment. My friend and I got the dozen mini cupcakes for $27 (most expensive cupcakes I ever bought). And dissected them in half to share, and we took our time, one by one and savored each individual flavor. I'd say 85-90% delicious! - so 1 or 2 of them were just alright. Everything else was worth it! Yes I was happy with the cupcakes

Picked up three dozen baby cupcakes for a work event and everyone on our team enjoyed them! They have soo many flavors including classics like red velvet and vanilla bean but also special ones like spicy carrot cake (my favorite) and cinnamon roll. Good to note that I called in my order only two hours ahead and they were able to accomodate!

The Spicy Carrot Cake (5 out of 5 Stars) Amy and the staff deserve a round of applause here. My brother ordered this for my holiday treat due to the pandemic and not being able to travel home to Tennessee. I know a good Carrot Cake and this one checks every single box!!! Thank you again Amy and Staff you are a Santa Monica Favorite!!!!!!!

So disappointed when I got home.... Walked by this place when I was in Santa Monica for business yesterday and thought I would bring home some killer-looking Chocolate Brownie cookies for the family. They looked great in the case and I didn't even balk at the $4.75 per cookie price because I was sure they would be amazing Unfortunately, they were hard as a rock and stale even after trying to dip them in mil - and we all through them away - not sure how a gourmet bakery like this could produce something so bad Just my two cents

Their gluten free cakes are so good. They are great for a special occasion. I ordered a small cake for my sisters birthday and she is usually pretty limited on options for gluten free but this place adds another. It tastes like more traditional type cakes but gf!

I need a wedding cake for my daughter's wedding. So I filled out and emailed their inquiry form and while waiting for a call back, I ordered the cake sampler. My daughter was so disappointed! the icing was horrible and she said it tasted like cardboard! We thought we got the wrong sampler of gluten free or vegan, but it is not labeled like that, so they said it should be their regular cake. If it's their regular cake, I am now thankful that Kim never called or replied to me, after waiting for 5 days!Bad customer service a plus!
