Van Leeuwen Ice Cream

Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is an absolute delight! We stopped by during lunch and were greeted by a friendly, welcoming staff member. Even though she was stocking when we arrived, she immediately took the time to assist us with our order and made some excellent recommendations. We decided to try the seasonal passion fruit ice cream and the Earl Grey tea flavor. Both were phenomenal! The ice cream is clearly made with high-quality ingredients, resulting in a rich, creamy texture and vibrant flavors. The passion fruit ice cream was particularly spectacular—refreshingly tangy with just the right amount of sweetness. It’s a flavor that truly stands out among their impressive variety.

This is my one of my favorite ice cream spots in Philly!! I love that they have vegan options but I can never resist the dairy selection. My favorites are the black cherry chip and honeycomb. You can sample any flavor that you'd like before making a choice and they can do milkshakes in any of the ice cream flavors. The staff are always friendly. Seating is available inside and outside is a thriving social area with a variety of spots to grab food and drinks.

Getting greeted by a bubbly and incredibly cheery individual staff member (dyed blue and other color hair) is a great feeling. Ice cream was tasty and vegan options were available. I got the honeycomb and I tried a friend’s pistachio ice cream - savored every bite. Pretty pricey for ice cream at about $7 for a single scoop after tax, but I enjoyed every bite. This place is really good. The staff is nice, very friendly and helpful. They have some unique ice cream flavors that are interesting to try. The waffle cone has cinnamon and some other ingredient I believe that makes is really good in addition to the fact that they make the waffle bowls and cones right there! The vibe is relaxed, kinda chill - that’s cool when the line isn’t long…. It was a couple things to note: although the hot fudge flavor was really good - that fudge had hardened so they seemed to be scraping the last of it. The salted caramel was really good also. I wanted more topping options but that could just be me. Would I visit this place again for ice cream- yes! Should you give it a try - you should! I cannot praise this place highly enough. The staff are incredible and some of the most friendly I've come across in the world. I love the ice cream, there are so many great flavours and we came basically every day we were in Philly. I wish I was there now... sigh.

I got the vegan dark chocolate fudge brownie since I'm dairy free. It's extremely rich, didn't help I put chocolate syrup on it, but was still delicious. I noticed though that there was more fudge than ice cream, never thought that would be an issue, but I was hoping for more ice cream than fudge!

So yum. I ordered a scoop of Chocolate Fudge Brownie (vegan) and a scoop of Brown Sugar Cookie Dough Chunk. Sprinkles, cookie crumble, whip cream. Delicious.

This ice cream is so good. I love how they offer unique ice cream flavors for normal and people with allergies. The person worki g new years eve wasso friendly and helpful. I noticed there were no seats for the employees which was frustrating. I also wish they got off earlier like 12pm for new years day or the whole day off. Hopefully, the owner invests more in taking care of their employees.
