"Valle Nevado, a resort in the Andes Mountains. While the property isn't entirely all-inclusive, it does offer half-board packages that include accommodations, lift tickets, and two daily meals. Another perk: you don't need to bring your own gear, since you can rent equipment for any skill level on site." - Travel + Leisure Editors

"The Ultimate Day Trip: Ski the Andes While sitting at dinner one night in Santiago with my brother, it occurred to us that we should try to ski and snowboard the Andes while we were there for a few days. A quick ask at our hostel, and we were set up for the ultimate day trip, complete with gear and transportation to and from the Valle Nevado ski resort. There are numerous outfitters in Santiago that will put together an inexpensive day trip to the slopes at a moment's notice. After a long, yet scenic 46-kilometer ride from the city, you will exit the van and gaze longingly at the majestic Andes mountains. Valle Nevado is one of the more modern ski resorts, and it even played host to the World Snowboarding Championships in 2005. And with over 800 hectares of ski-friendly area, even the most elite athlete will not get bored on this terrain. If you're in Santiago, and have some time on your hands, this is the ultimate day trip."

We went for the day with Ski Total. Ski Total rents the equipment, winter clothes, and transportation to the Valle Nevado. The ride is over an hour long, worth getting a ride there. Once at the Valle Nevado Ski resort, it was all a bit confusing, and line-ups for everything. Two people in our group knew how to ski, so they just needed the basic pass. Two of us needed baby classes, and that was another line-up at another location. When we tried to book a private class, the ones left were too late in the day, so we booked the group beginner's class. So, do book your classes in advance! Then, there was another very slow line-up for getting a locker, and by the time we reached the meeting point for the classes, it was time to start. In our group we were 10 and with different skills... so I highly recommend you get a private class! Don't get me wrong, the place is absolutely breathtaking, and the bar had very good beer, but they need to organize themselves way better!!

Hotel Valle Nevado is the “luxury” option of 3 hotels at Valle Nevado (middle option is Puerta del Sol and budget is Tres Puntas). We stayed at Puerta del Sol in 2019 and it felt very budget, so upgraded this year to the highest end option for 50-100% more. ||Unfortunately this hotel is showing its age. It seems they haven’t done much to the rooms since they opened in the early 2000’s. Everything is tired and old - the sinks have the chain and rubber stopper, the wood is chipped and old, the mattresses are hard and uncomfortable, and the rooms are tiny for the price. The hotel has good bones but is in dire need of a major renovation.||We had no other option besides full board, with a buffet breakfast at La Forchette in this hotel and buffet dinner at Puerta del Sol - all ranged from not great to pretty tasty, depending on the day. ||If this were a quarter of the price it would be great, especially given the awesome staff (front desk, cleaners, bar and wait staff all were excellent) and the location. The on site gym was also great, and the hot tub was enjoyable (if more suited to the 80’s). These factors brought this up from a 1/2 to a 3, in my opinion. ||I would not spend the money here - Puerta Del Sol is almost the same but a lot cheaper. ||If you do stay, I’d try to opt out of the full board option to try different restaurants. Just make sure you book reservations every morning! ||Also try for a room on the 5th floor, facing out.

Drove up to Valle Nevado and it was a truly beautiful place. Plenty of good snow and testing runs for intermediates and beginners. The staff were wonderdul and the food and drinks were just what the Dr. ordered 🤩 Will definitely return before the end of the season ✌️ Quick tip: Buy ski passes on-line as it is a lot cheaper! 😎

We stayed in an apartment/condo at the base of the mountain. They got about 4' of snow the weekend before we arrived, so the snow was incredible. Temps were perfect. No wind and few clouds. Ground lifts are something of a challenge, but the crowds were light all week. It took 3 hours to get up the mountain, but the trip was great.

Amazing mountain with a great variety of lifts. Amazing snow quality. Friendly for multiple languages. However, it took 2 hours of waiting in line to get my equipment rentals. This is very unacceptable and they need to make the process more efficient.

I did not stay at the resort but I went for skiing. The place is gorgeous and once you are up the mountains things get better but to get there is a hustle. I spent 2h in line to get my ski rentals even though everything was already paid off. When I got the rentals, the first lifts were out of order so I had to walk (with my skis on) all the way up the snow to the next lift, it was a struggle. Overall my experience was meh because of the struggles.

I can't speak to the rooms, but the ski area is phenomenal and the reason I am giving 5 stars is primarily for the support of one of the ski patrol guys, Sergio Vega Valenzuela. Here's why: First day in Chile. Meet Sergio Vega Valenzuela, ski patrol at #ValleNevado (@valle_nevado ) who saved my ass when I skied down from Tres Puntos and through a canyon into some serious back country, completely unprepared (I thought the gorge would lead me back to the resort ...). Also grateful to @brettploss of @snowbrains Magazine, whom I met at Santiago Airport in the am, and who alerted ski patrol when I sent a message saying I wouldn't make it back to the resort. Ski Patrol contacted me with some options. At first I agreed to a $1,000 heli rescue but when the price went up to $2,500 (because chopper was in Santiago) I suddenly found the motivation to climb the 600 metre (1800 ft) wall of rock, ice and snow to get back to the resort. Fortunately, Sergio met me half-way with water, granola bars and some snow shoes to finish the trek up. His bright smile and confidence in me gave me the energy I needed to climb up and over the top. The only thing missing was a small barrel of whisky hanging under his chin!! Lesson learned: don't ski beyond the resort boundaries unprepared and alone!!

I booked a room in 2023 and after paying I received the news that it would not be open on the date. There was no refund option so I was offered to use it in 2024. The reservation was for the Hotel Puerta del Sol with a view of the slopes but at check in I received an "upgrade" to the Valle Nevado Hotel with a side view causing displeasure. The temperature of the shower water varies from cold to very hot!
