"COVID-19 Update: Open for takeout and delivery. The eponymous burger here warrants the elusive name, which refers to the fifth taste in Japanese. You'll find a sleek interior and fantastic burgers, plus inventive sides and sauces. Not to mention, they grind their own meat, process their own cheese, and pickle their own veggies. Because why not? With multiple locations throughout LA area, you can't, and shouldn't, miss this. Other locations: Arts District, Downtown, Burbank, Los Feliz, Pasadena, Santa Monica, Studio City, West Hollywood, and Thousand Oaks COVID-19 Disclaimer: We are working hard to keep our listings as up to date as possible (deliveries, outdoor dining, etc.), but given the evolving nature of local COVID-19 restrictions, we recommend double-checking the information in this guide with any business you plan on visiting. This is a great place to chill and get a bite to eat. It's got a nice ambience and the service is generally decent. They've got an interesting menu with quite a few unique dishes. We ordered the Jap Style Wings, Maple Bacon Fries, Truffle and K-BBQ burgers. The burgers were pretty good! They packed some serious flavors and without overpowering the hearty taste from the beef patty. The sides were decent as well, though I found the wings a tad salty. Price wise, it's expensive, so it's not the kind of place we'd eat at often but would visit once in a while. Definitely one of the better restaurants at The Grove.

Good sitting. Had to wait for 10-15 mins. The burgers we're good and filling. If you are looking for something spicy order the chicken Diablo and for vegetarians impossible vegan BBQ. We also tried the impossible truffle burger which was good. Are meat burgers can be substituted for veg patty. Please not the vegetarian patty is made of soy, so if you don't like soy hard luck! We had ordered the normal and sweet potato fries which added to the experience. They also serve ranch upon request.

We had the umami burger, the reggiano burger, and the deluxe. Umami burger had their special house sauce (similar to thousand island). The bun was a little heavy in butter but overall good. Reggiano's pesto sauce balanced it out well. They were more like sliders but the burgers were savory; more on the saltier side in my opinion. We also tried the meatless wings. These were far better than I expected. Reminds me of a tofu nugget drizzled in buffalo sauce.

Take a look at these photos and tell me you don’t want to eat this all up right now. I’ve been a huge fan of Umami Burger for years, WAY before I went vegan. So, I was ecstatic to find that Umami Burger offered not one, but FOUR all-vegan burgers patty-to-patty! We decided to order what the manager told us were the two most popular vegan burgers: the Impossible Classic Cheeseburger (sub vegan truffle cheese!) and the Impossible Vegan BBQ Burger. Impossible Classic Cheeseburger: Now, I’ve already had the Impossible burger many times, but there’s just something about the way Umami Burger makes their burgers that goes above and beyond my expectation every time. I loved how the burger patty was crispy on the outside but juicy on the inside - honestly, I consider the impossible burger some kind of vegan sorcery since it tastes so similar to meat. Not to mention, the vegan truffle cheese I substituted in was sooo good. It’s burgers like these that make me so surprised when people say it would be too hard to go vegan! Impossible Vegan BBQ Burger: I thought this burger would be fun to try since it was kind of like a vegan take on a Sloppy Joe, or just a backyard BBQ burger. The Impossible patty was seasoned with a sweet and smoky barbeque sauce, topped with coleslaw and jalapenos. This burger was definitely way more unique than the last one, and it was AMAZING. I loved the smokiness of flavors, and the jalapenos added such a nice kick that kept me wanting more. Overall, Umami Burger offers such a pleasant experience with uniquely crafted burgers you can’t find anywhere else. I was more than satisfied with my visit, and everyone should check it out if you have the chance!

My wife and I used to eat here a lot until that one day when our server just kept ignoring us and doesnt take our order because she's more interested in associating with her friends at table in front of us. All she did was introduced herself asked for our drinks and asked us to hold for a minute cause a group of people she knew came in and was seated in front of us. She ended taking their order first and forgor that she was taking our order. We decided that would be our last visit there after our last experience.

My brother suggested this burger spot and they didn't disappoint. Loved the truffle fries. All of the sauces were so tasty even the black garlic.

Great burger! I had truffle burger ($14) with sweet potato fries ($5.5). The patty was cooked perfectly, juicy and flavorful! Good service.

The end of Umami the great. So sad to see this once beautiful giant die slowly. Ive been the biggest fan of the burger chain since I move to LA back in 2009. The burgers are still really good and the Cheesy Tots still hit, but the place looks like it will soon say goodbye, and the end of a beautiful once stamped signature burger will say goodbye forever.
