Two Rooms is the kind of place that you want to give 5 stars because it makes you feel ultra classy, but... well, I'll get to that later.
The Sunday brunch set gives you the option of a First and Second, plus coffee or tea. We also added the brunch drinks course for ¥4000 which surprisingly does not include mimosas. No mimosas at brunch? What is this savagery! Seriously, though, if you want sparkling wine, apparently you need to request it 3 days in advance.
Moving on, I was really looking forward to the Two Rooms Eggs Benedict. They give you the option of ham, salmon, or one of each. The portion size was plentiful, the smoked salmon was delectable, and the eggs were perfectly poached. But... the dish was drowned in sauce. And not just any sauce. When the dish first arrived, we thought it was made with Dijon mustard because the color was a nutty brown rather than the usual blonde Hollandaise, but it wasn't mustard based, it was made with browned butter and a LOT of it. The dish was so rich, so heavy, I could barely finish just one of the eggs. It was a huge shame because I love Eggs Benedict. We ended up talking to the server and, eventually, the manager about it. The manager said that "other customers" have made the same complaint in the past, but "this is the Two Rooms way". And although the server had already taken the plate away with the other half of my food, I needed to pay an additional ¥500 for a small plate of fruit. The fruit was delicious, to be sure, but it's a matter of principle...!
So, food = 5 stars.
-0.5 stars for no mimosas
-1 star for artery clogging Eggs Benedict
-0.5 stars for "this is the Two Rooms way"
Anyway, Two Rooms is the kind of place that you want to give 5 stars because it makes you feel ultra classy, but ultimately (and unfortunately!) the food doesn't match the price point. Want brunch in Omotesando? Go to Beacon instead.
