The service was ridiculously slow and unapologetic, at least to our table. Two tables over, a teenaged couple, got apology after apology and a manager saying "I'm gonna take care of you." Apparently a large table was sat, 25 top, which was causing delays in the kitchen. Meanwhile we were celebrating my wife's birthday, sat there trying to keep our kid from ruining other people's night out by keeping him entertained, but the wait was torturous even for me. It had me thinking they had to pluck a chicken to cook and stuff it, before butchering a pig to make the pork chop. The appetizer and kids meal came out quickly which was a relief, while bread and butter were offered afterward which was a little odd on the timing. The truffle Mac n Cheese was melt in your mouth goodness that had me savoring it long after I had devoured it.
However, then came the longest delay when we ordered 2 desserts. The creme brûlée shouldn't take long at all, it's a cold item that requires a quick torch to the sugar atop. The butter cake was warmed, but it didn't taste freshly baked, so what the hell could take so damn long. Yet between the time we ordered dessert and the time we finally settled our check, over 1 hour had passed. I never tip less than 20% having worked in the service industry while in college, and usually tip 25% at nice restaurants like this, but after our waiter's disappearing act (I guess he went on break because we saw him walking down the street as we left but not a word about it), and the fact that I had to get up and walk my check over to the bar to pay, that tip went down a few percentage points.
So why tip at all you may be wondering? Well the service started out great and was friendly. Then the food was delicious. The bourbon pork chop was recommended by the server and it was good to the last bite, paired nicely with jalapeño cheddar mashed potatoes. My wife's stuffed chicken was also quite tasty as I finished her plate as well. Even my kids fries were nice and crispy thin straw cut fries. So despite how upset I may have been with the speed of service and lack of communication with our table, and not liking the blood orange margarita ($14 for something I had to choke down with a face after each sip), I could only knock this place down a couple stars and still had to tip. Sadly, despite how good the food was, I don't think I'll be coming back, because I don't have over 2 hours to sit down for dinner, especially when there weren't many tables there when we were initially sat.
