"Counting Robert Mondavi and Cakebread as its neighbors, this small, family-owned and operated winemaker doubles down on its small-but-mighty Cabernet Sauvignon. (This spring, they played host to our first-ever Napa road-to-table event.) Here, second generation vintner Zoe Johns, who took the helm of Turnbull at the age of 33, brings her vision for a modern vineyard to life: a tasting gallery features a rotating roster of artwork from artists like Berenice Abbott, Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, and Herb Ritts, while a more elaborate private tasting and pairing program leans heavily on what's freshest from the garden. Wineries are plentiful in Napa and it can be difficult to choose, this one is a very nice introduction. It is a family-run vineyard, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon but also Merlot and Petit Verdot. What makes all the difference is this beautiful garden and the fantastic staff who take care of the vines right through to bottling and sale.

Spectacular vineyard. Easily my favorite on this road. The sophistication of the wine pairs nicely with the more hidden and quiet ambiance as compared to other vineyards down the road. Osvaldo is very knowledgeable, outgoing, and true to form in his explanation of tastings and service. You can’t beat any of the flagship wines. 2019 great year.

What a place to spend an afternoon. Outside under the aged wisteria vines and views of mountains, it creates an amazing backdrop to enjoy some of the best grapes the valley has to offer. Incredible 🍷🍇

Visited Turnbull with a group of friends on a spring Saturday and had the BEST tasting experience. Jeff treated us so well and we couldn't have asked for a better selection of wines, better weather, or better outdoor seating & ambiance. Turnbull has standing tasting areas indoors, but by far the best place to relax and enjoy your tasting is outside in the terrace area - plenty of chairs and tables for small groups of people, cute outhouses, and easy proximity to the vineyard so you can walk through and see some of the grapes up close during your tasting. Pick a pretty day, sit outside and soak up the weather, no reservation needed.
