"The Danish pottery industry is kiln-hot and, in the skilful hands of Eric Landon, it’s easy to see why. “I want to show the world that you can sit and relax and drink coffee in a beautiful studio and then make a pot,” says Landon from his 18th-century workplace in Copenhagen’s old town, which has been the home of his brand, Tortus Copenhagen, since 2012. Landon moved to Denmark from the US in 1999 and has been reviving the country’s centuries-old ceramics scene ever since. "

I've followed the Tortus Copenhagen Instagram account for a long time, so I was really excited to visit when I was in town. When we walked in, we were welcomed and invited to meet Eric and see his studio, which I was happily surprised about. Eric showed us around, and everyone was so friendly. It was a great experience and it definitely surpassed my expectations!

I can believe the positives and negatives in these reviews, especially the ranting response of the owner to a negative review. I did a 2 day workshop here, and the lesson was excellent, the space lovely - and the guy’s treatment of people pretty unpleasant. I was so excited to be going there and his behaviour made it really uncomfortable. The lowlight was watching him bully a person who worked for him - once in front of the class for a plainly unavoidable problem, another time picking on them over and over for something important to them. It seemed really belittling, self important and cringeworthy. Most of the class were already fans of his work, for good reason, but you can’t treat people like that, and it’s no way to build a personal brand either. Confidence is great; defensive OTT vanity and rudeness is not. The haughty, passive agressive “sorrynotsorry” tone in the reply to a complaint here is unfortunately how I felt he behaved too

Such a great experience. The owner and craftsman loves to share his space and answer questions. His work is amazing, follow @tortus_copenhagen on Instagram. Would recommend to everyone who loves ceramics.

Visited with my girlfriend, a potter herself and a huge fan. We were given a wonderful tour of the studio and workshop. One of the great artisanal places in Copenhagen.

I criticized a glaze and gave some feedback on it. Mr. Landon reacted like I called him vulgar words. He went to my instagram page and attacked my own work. It seems he DOES NOT accept feedback or opinions. I respect the man in all, but that type of reaction towards a consumer giving their opinion is very unprofessional

Lovely handmade pottery stuff 👍✨🍚 The actual guy who makes the pottery was away when we dropped buy a Sunday afternoon in October 2016, however the staff was nice and helpful and they also sell prints!!!!
