The Tin Building by Jean-Georges is a stunning food hall at South Street Seaport, blending diverse culinary delights with a vibrant market atmosphere.
"Originally the Fulton Fish Market, it was transformed into a food destination by chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten and partners after a $194.6 million renovation. It includes six full-service restaurants, four bars, counter-service spots, retail, and private dining." - Melissa McCart
"Eight years in the making, celebrity chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten opened the Tin Building — a massive complex complete with several restaurants and retail shops — in 2022. Stretching 53,000-square-feet, and several floors, one could spend a whole day in the space alone trying dishes from all over the world. In an era of food hall overload, the Tin Building puts its own luxury spins on the genre." - Eater Staff
"Eric Ripert visits this place for various restaurants and food shops, especially the excellent Chinese restaurant." - Nancy DePalma
"If I’m downtown on the Eastside, I like to visit Jean Georges’s Tin Building. There are so many restaurants and food shops to try all in one place. The Chinese restaurant is excellent." - Nancy DePalma
"Some hits, some misses. Overall, a surprisingly nice food hall. The Tin Building closed in 2005, after the old Fulton Fish Market moved uptown. But now it's back as a massive food hall, under the direction of Jean-Georges Vongerichten. This Seaport spot has both full-service and fast-casual concepts, with a lot of outdoor seating—and it doesn't just feel like your average mall food court. It’s got everything a dining destination needs to go viral (from uni flights to a speakeasy restaurant), but most of the stuff you’ll see online, like the puff pastry burger at T. Brasserie, is whatever. However, we do love the Peking Duck at the aforementioned speakeasy restaurant House of the Red Pearl, and Seeds & Weeds is a nice place to eat vegan food and stare out at the East River. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation
