"Tinged red at dawn, the granite towers of Torres del Paine are a blazing centerpiece in Chile’s premier national park. But no view compares with the scene greeting guests from their bed at this exquisitely crafted lodge. Barely visible along the skyline, the lakeside building sinks comfortably into the landscape, giving all rooms a vista onto the soaring peaks. Light pours through walls of glass to illuminate a panoramic restaurant and spa with an indoor infinity pool, perfect spots to watch clouds dance across big skies. Far from the crowd-clogged trails, the coolly unassuming property invites endless possibilities at the bottom of the world. From $2,094. —Sarah Marshall" - CNT Editors

"There are views and then there are Views—and Tierra Patagonia, with its panoramic displays of the region’s snow-capped mountains and Lake Sarmiento—features the latter. Chilean architect Cazú Zegers is behind this 40-room low-rise hotel, indoor pool included. She designed it to be so in tune with the adjacent Torres del Paine National Park that wandering wildlife—pumas, guanacos, armadillos, foxes, and ostrich-like rheas—often pass by without giving the lodge much notice. You might catch some of these residents from the 49-by-10-foot indoor pool; it’s surrounded by warm wood columns and floor-to-ceiling windows that frame views of the mountain range and the occasional flying condor. The pool is kept at a balmy 97 degrees to keep things cozy on frequently chilly days; spa-like touches include jets and water cascades at one end. For those who wish to get closer to the winds gusting in from the Great Southern Ice Field, take a dip in the outdoor Jacuzzi next to the pool, which is protected from the elements by short panes of glass." - Kathryn Romeyn
"There’s something about feeling like you’re teetering at the far margins of the world—albeit with the person you love—that’s undeniably romantic. And at the 40-room Tierra Patagonia Hotel & Spa, set on the edge of Torres del Paine National Park in Chilean Patagonia, you and your partner will feel as though you’re really out there. Banked with earth and clad in lenga beechwood, the low-slung hotel winds for 650 feet along the base of a bluff, its aerodynamic shape barely interrupting the gales that whip in from Patagonia’s Southern Ice Field; guest rooms are understated, outfitted in a clean palette of wood, wool, and leather, all to emphasize the spectacular views of pampa and peak beyond. The hotel offers guided excursions within and around the park, including hiking trips and adventures on horseback; spend the day exploring, then retreat to your superior room, where you can continue to marvel at the views from the warm waters of a deep-soak bathtub." - CNT Editors, Betsy Blumenthal
