Thunderstruck Bookstore

This place is awesome ! The staff had exactly what I wanted and knew exactly where it was (after I’d called another comic shop who didn’t have what I was looking for) and this place is full to the brim with every single comic and manga you can imagine plus tons of collectibles and anime figures ! There were series in here I haven’t thought about in over a decade that brought back so many memories. I will definitely be back here. You guys rule !

Great little independent store with LOADS of awesome collectibles, comics, manga and the like. Ignore anyone complaining about the mask policy. The owner provides you with one if you don’t have one, and the last time I visited I’m GLAD she had this policy in place because someone else in the store was coughing nonstop and in way too close vicinity to me. The store is very small, so I can imagine that the masks keep everyone safe from getting sick. The idiots who complain about it are the same people who would willingly go outside when they’re sick and cough all over people with no regard for anyone but themselves. Great store - will definitely be coming back. The owner was super nice and helpful!

Great selection of anime merchandise and manga. I found some manga’s that I couldn’t find anywhere else and I’ve visited about 10 other anime merchandise stores in the Toronto area. This store is so cool, it has brand new and older items with reasonable prices. The employee/owner provides a mask if you don’t have one, which is amazing, and she was very polite about it. No problem with wearing a mask since the store is small and you often have to be right next to someone. Another customer was hacking away next to me in the store so I was honestly very happy that we were both wearing masks. I spent a lot of money here and will definitely be returning in the future!

Thunderstruck has been a great staple in the neighborhood for years. Full of comics, manga and toys. The variety of weekly comics and trade paperback selections is insanely good. I've only ever received great service here. It's unfortunate that alt-right trolls that have never been to the store are targeting and attacking a good small business.

Absolutely amazing selection despite the small size of the store. I'm not entirely sure how books are organized here but it's fun to look around and discover what's available, kind of like a treasure hunt. I'm sure the staff are aware and can help find what you need if you're looking for something specific. Great way to kill some time while we were in Toronto!

Lol. Apparently Thunderstruck is being spammed by anti-maskers. Almost all of the one star reviews are from people who never visited the shop (NY state?! Victoria BC?!). Anyone who goes there knows that Dobi is courteous and thoughtful, and the store is loaded with great books and toys. I've been getting my comics there for over a decade.

One of the best comic book shops in Toronto! The owner is amazing and her selection of books and collectibles is always full of fun surprises.

A great comics/manga/memorabilia store. Has an excellent collection of video game/manga/comic artbooks, figures, and naturally comics/manga anthologies. However, the collection stays up to date, so don't expect to find anything out of print here. Owner is nice and approachable, definitely knowledgeable about her products, so going to her for help is always a decent idea. Have bought multiple artbooks from the store, and I don't think that's gonna end anytime soon.

I've been to Thunderstruck every year on FCBD for the past 5 or so years (minus pandemic closures). I've had nothing but the best, most knowledgeable, friendly and helpful experience every single time on one of the most stressful and busy days of the year. The woman owner is rude bordering on mental -- it doesn't take much to bring her to a state of full-blown breakdown, at which point you will be at risk. Somebody needs to bring charges. Shop here at your own risk.

Cute little comic book shop with a variety of comic books, Funko pops, small mystery box figurines (the ones you would find at Hot Topic or EB Games). I saw that they had a lot of newer Funko Pop releases on their shelves too, some pops from the Funko shop itself. If you're looking for a new place to check out new comics or pops, here's a nice play to check out.

As fans of the previous store, my wife and I were worried that everything we liked about it would change when Thunderstruck took over. If anything, it's better! That owes strongly to the new owner, who has been a friendly fixture of the location for years. We've never seen so much as a glimmer of negativity or unhelpfulness from her, so stepping into the new store to see her familiar face was a big relief. In fact, seeing her through the door as we walked by was actually the tipping point that made us come in again, since we wrongly assumed we wouldn't like whatever offerings any new store had. Everything that made the previous store good is totally still there, with any changes mainly being subtle but impactful organization improvements throughout the shop. The new owner clearly knows what makes this spot special, and having her fully at the helm just feels like the next logical step to keeping it that way, so we really hope the good folks of Toronto reward her faith with their patronage so it can stick around for a long time to come. Whether you were a fan of the previous place or are someone considering checking this spot out for the first time, we encourage you to stop in and see if the selection doesn't leave you feeling thunderstruck!

I have never been treated so rudely. I simply asked if a graphic novel was "trashy" or if there was something more intellectual. The sales lady, was so rude, refused to serve me and argued with me for sometime. Comics are not an elitist thing, my question was sincere, all she had to do was say respectfully say - this comic your holding is actually really respected . I would never ever go back again, I was practically reduced to tears over an innocent question
