"Burbank once had a robust metropolitan military community with the Air Force and early aerospace pioneers like Lockheed Martin calling it home for many decades. The Supply Sergeant is a hold-out from the days of the greatest generation. In business since 1948, it's that kooky store with tanks parked outside. Not just military surplus anymore, Supply Sergeant carries all sorts of camping/survival gear as well as serving as a mini military museum. You can get just about anything you need here to survive the zombie apocalypse or perfect that Russian cosmonaut costume you've got planned for Halloween. The Supply Sergeant is worth a visit even if it's just to check out the tanks." - Jennifer Beatty

Google
My son wanted to visit this place they have a big variety of items and the staff was very nice too. Will definitely be coming back.

Joon K

Google
They have the standard surplus stuff, but nothing special. It's fun to look at the stuff, though. The staff is nice.

Andy Appleton

Google
Great staff. Always friendly & super helpful. They are the go-to place for military / law enforcement props.

Skullgamer

Google
I have always loved going to the supply sergeant in Bakersfield but now that it has closed it fills me with melancholy passing through Chester seeing this awesome place closed I will always hold a special place in my heart for the supply sergeant and how amazing the store was

Ronald Barth

Google
Not worth the trip. Very little inventory.

Grant Hyde

Google
Awesome selection of vintage and new military supplies. Also makes customs dog tags, great for movie and tv shopping!

Ruddy Cano

Google
The selection here is nuts. They had all sorts of cammies and gear. Friendly staff too!

Amy J. Delevingne

Google
Very helpful folks, knowledgeable, and always a pleasant visit. It's just pricey.. And p.s., if you are planning on NOT bringing cash with you, bring ID/DL because they will ask to see it, to match the names.

Kay K.

Yelp
This place was awesome. They had a whole selection of things that we have been trying to find everywhere. The prices were affordable and everyone there is very knowledgeable and kind.

Cristina M.

Yelp
The guy who was at the front counter was really nice. Let's start with that. Everything else was a disappointment. This used to be THE place to buy surplus items. I didn't recognize it when I went in today. Everything looked dirty, grungy, and disorganized. The front countertops were covered in "stuff" that didn't belong there. You couldn't see what was in the glass displays there or anywhere in the store. The inventory on most of the store was low. It looked like they're preparing to go out of business VERY soon. Oh I almost forgot... we walk in and to the right they have flags. The one flag on top of the wall display - covering all other flags behind it - is a che guevara flag. WHAT? That goes against everything a store like this represents. It's shameful. I made a comment to the guy ane he immediately put other flags on top of it, which was great. However the bigger issue here is that the owners decided it was ok to carry this trash. I'm really disappointed in the store as a whole. Low inventory, dirty/dusty, and giving a vibe like the owners don't care how their store looks. It's sad because this store used to be so cool.

Daniel

Yelp
Limited inventory options available. Couldn't find a vintage '60's uSArmy uniform there. None.

Sean S.

Yelp
Not many of these type of places left. Everything you would expect from an army surplus store. Plenty of clothes and jackets. Web and leather gear. One of those places you could go into twice and see tons of stuff you didn't see the first time. nice guy working there. Conveniently located near a local carwash on Magnolia and a great way to kill time while that's getting done. Didn't purchase anything but I can see myself going back

dan n.

Yelp
The guy in the cowboy hat was very nice. Pleasant guy to talk to. I go in there all the time to get random things because I'm an actor and he knows exactly what I'm trying to explain and I'm not that good at explaining it. I even had a camping trip with two hot girls and I had nothing. In five minutes I had everything all put together and stuff I ended up needing that I didn't know I would. He made me look like the king of the wilderness! So thank you for that! The prices there are very good. And plenty to choose from. My suggestion is to ask for help because the place is big. There's a big selection.

Connor I.

Yelp
It's an army surplus store- what's not to love? Came here to buy some pieces for a Halloween costume and ended up walking out with much more. Prices are amazingly low for the quality.

Luke L.

Yelp
This is one of few surplus stores in LA County. [Parking]: Easy and free street parking. Apparently there is parking in the back alley. [Pros]: You'll find most of basic needs on military gears, flags, patches, etc. [Cons]: I came here for earthquake emergency kits and I was disappointed with available options. I only found one prebuilt earthquake kit and the shop had limited selection on MREs (Meals Ready-to-Eat). In addition, some of items (e.g. beanies) were overpriced comparing with other surplus shops I had visited. Some sections had empty shelves and customers may not be able to find all of items they want to find here. The Supply Sergeant is a-ok and I would visit The Supply Sergeant in Gardena for prebuilt earthquake kits or The Surplus Store in Culver City for bags/boots/jackets.

Chris D.

Yelp
This place looks like it's on its last legs And whimpering to be put down The inventory has shrunk to the lowest point I've observed since I started frequenting this establishment Somebody super cool needs to step in with a cash infusion and some cool marketing ideas Maybe Jack Black has some extra cash to preserve something unique and interesting? SOS....SOS...SOS SAVE THIS ICONIC AND COLORFUL STORE BEFORE IT DISAPPEARS WHO NEEDS ANOTHER SMOKE SHOP OR MASSAGE STOREFRONT ??? MAINTAIN YOUR URBAN CULTURE BURBANK !!!

Talin K.

Yelp
the supplies, Sergeant. It has the best BB gun and airsoft. it also has police badges too. They have a lot of camouflage stuff. They also sometimes put 2 tank outside for display. They also sell a lot of knifes. The service is really good too. And they sell a lot of World War II stuff. I saw BB gun desert Eagle. There's also BB gun rentals too.

Max S.

Yelp
I was just in the area on the weekend and popped my head it. Looking for military gear? This is the place to come to. They sell all kinds of military fatigues; patches; badges; camping equipment; etc. You name it, they sell it. They even sell black combat boots. Cool. I bought a Velcro Hello Kitty / Star Wars storm trooper patch. That's what I'm talking about. There's free street parking.

Erika Q.

Yelp
Excellent experience! We came right at closing and Michael was a gem, letting us quickly grab some Dickies as part of our back to school excursion. We'd been shopping online for months, trying to find the right pants and shorts for our very tall teen daughter. We were met with great selection, ample "supplies," and great products. Reasonably priced too! We'll be back!

Debbee P.

Yelp
An employee of the store was listening to a conspiracy theory radio show very loudly . I don't think anyone wants to listen to angry commentary while shopping. I certainly didn't and when I approached him and said something to him he didn't even lift his head to look in my direction.

Christian S.

Yelp
I love this place! They have rare things like Russian camo for example! I love supply sergeant and it is an amazing hole in the wall shop that has very cool and rare items!

Jacob W.

Yelp
Hidden Gem still remains in the valley. Cool spot for any kind of outdoor items, outdoor or heavy duty work clothes, gear, etc. Great prices & a wide selection of items, been there for years & definitely a great spot!

Harry K.

Yelp
All Kind Military Uniforms, Supplies You can Name it They Have.Hats and Patch Even Veterans of NAM. I've seen Top Gun.

Yelp
The Supply Sergeant has been a staple for Southern California lifestyle for as long as I can remember. There are a few different Supply Sergeants in the greater Los Angeles area. As a young person I used to go into the one on Hollywood Boulevard quite frequently. I always found what they had to offer very unique. This location is no different. What they have is tons and tons of military equipment plus all kinds of other things that you may never expect to find. This business truly offers a unique collection of items. Sure, they have military garb if that is what you were looking for. And, they have tons of it. They also have all kinds of other things like general clothing, footwear, backpacks, cooking utensils, knives, and the list goes on and on. The prices here are very reasonable. So, if you are looking for that military influenced item, this is the place to go.

Marisa B.

Yelp
I wanted to write a review I was in the store supply Sergeant on 17 September, and a man helped me. His name is Dan. He wears a big cowboy hat. He was so friendly and helpful. Helped my son get his army outfits that he wanted for a costume party And my son loves military clothing. Dan went out of his way for us. We spent two hours together. You definitely have to stop by ask for Dan. He's a manager. Definitely look for him. He has a cowboy hat on. Thanks again Dan for going out of your way 10 stars Marisa Sun Valley, California.

Jimmy A.

Yelp
I myself who lived in the valley for over 20 something years and I am a native Angelino and familiar with all the Supply Sergeant stores. I would come to the Burbank location mainly. This one particular day I made a very expensive purchase with my debit card, I was told they needed to see my ID. Funny because the other 2 customers ahead of me paid via debit card and were not asked for ID. The worker told me Supply Sergeant has a policy to ask for ID. I replied back, I have shopped here along time and always made pricey purchases with my debit card and never was asked for ID. He replied back oh this has always been policy. Now this was a younger guy telling me this. I know he was not one of the older employees I interact with. I feel I was pinpointed because of my race. I have been shopping at this store for along time, and I always got a weird vibe from some of the workers. Well my suspicion was right all along. I plan on never setting my foot back in here. I like supporting mom and pop stores. But this race issue doesn't fly with me!!!

Christopher P.

Yelp
Visited the other day. I was looking for some basic items and could not find it. Honestly this place is a pit, nothing is organized, all over priced, dirty, run down and poor selection. Absolutely nothing really eye catching.

Nathan L.

Yelp
They have a lot of cool items and accessories, the person working the register was pretty nice and patient with me when I couldn't find the prices on some of the items I was buying. There wasn't much on some of the shelves but mostly had amazing things, was able to buy my first plate carrier here for a surprisingly good price. Honestly, I highly recommend this surplus store

Noah L.

Yelp
I have to say that at all the surplus I've been to, this one has the biggest selection of helmets for a reasonable price. So I would definitely recommend this place for helmet collectors Facility was relatively organized Staff was okay. Wasn't most friendly but weren't jerks. Prices for helmets were really good but jackets and clothing a little overpriced compared to the market price.

Kim K.

Yelp
I do like this place. It's been around forever. And they always have what I'm looking for plus a few things I didn't think I ever knew needed (hahaha). I've been coming here for years and thought I should give them a review. They have all sorts of supplies for camping, which is generally what I come in here for and at reasonable prices. Tarps, hats, military, camo, winter, work clothes, boots, outdoors, camping, knives... The list goes on. They have a shop parrot. I think it's an African Grey. It's a fun addition. And I can't walk by without sagging HELLO. He does talk. The staff is always helpful. My last time in was Christmas time and a good looking black man helped me with the purchase of a Swiss army knife for my nephew. He was so friendly and helpful! No pressure sales. Just honest and funny and laughed at my dry humor. (Lol..Ok.. I laugh at my own humor. I'm a comedian in my own mind haha). I wish I remembered his name because what an asset to the biz! Anyway.. You probably drive by this place all the time and never really have it a thought..I'm telling ya.. GO IN AND CHECK IT OUT! There's something in there for everyone!

B H.

Yelp
This was my first visit to this store and won't be my last. They carry a wide array of camping and military supplies. Madison was very helpful in answering all my questions. I stopped in this one day for a small container of pepper spray. I noticed many of the items in the store are made in the USA, which I feel is a plus. I found the prices more than reasonable. NOTE OF CAUTION: They have two beautiful parrots that unfortunately like to roam the floor. PLEASE BE EXTRA careful walking in the store. I almost stepped on one by accident!!! The parrots are so sweet. Tequila likes carrots and Scooter prefers French fries...lol.

Fred S.

Yelp
The Supply Sergeant in Burbank is a great store with a lot of variety, and the staff is extremely helpful

Stephanie M.

Yelp
This place is awesome if you're looking to build your camping gear or emergency kit. What I got here last time I packed sleeping bags, backpacks, paracords, ponchos, thermal blankets. They have lots of flashlights, knives and survival food. I stocked up on the Blue 50 year shelf life water cans too. I've been here several times and they always have a wide selection of items and great prices. Definitely come here before you buy online or Amazon.

Rebecca A.

Yelp
They had a nice collection that was well organized. Only reason I am giving three stars is because they kept following me around in the store like I was going to take something. Three separate workers did it multiple times and it made me super uncomfortable.

Orsolya D.

Yelp
Let's get something out in the open before I pan my way through this review: I'm not a gal into army gear, the military, or any similar likeness. Alas though, my boyfriend is and to a large extent. What's a relationship if not sharing things and supporting the other's interests? You know what that means: my boyfriend wanted to visit The Supply Sergeant and I was at his side to check it out myself. Well, guess what? I didn't hate it! In fact, this place is quite great! The Supply Sergeant is a company originally founded in 1946 by a WWII vet in San Francisco. This location is firmly entrenched in real estate on Victory, seconds from the Magnolia intersection in the heart of Burbank. Street parking is available but a back lot is also conveniently on tab to serve customers. The exterior is nothing too excitable in nature but that changes once in inside... and believe it or not, it's quite a shop! The interior of The Supply Sergeant is decently-sized with many products packed into the space yet with organization and tidiness that would make any military personnel proud. The store features everything from clothing, knives, bags and packs, camping gear, to emergency kits, patches and pins, and clothing and toys for children. The Supply Sergeant is truly the place to go for anyone into army supply or even just those who seek components to a costume. The crazy thing is that even as a woman not interested in this stuff; I found myself overwhelmed and amazed with all the gear. Bottom line: The Supply Sergeant is simply 'fun' to browse! Another highlight at The Supply Sergeant? Customer service. I interacted with a couple staff members while shopping and the employees are kind, knowledgeable, and very pleasant. These aren't some random retail workers simply making a buck... they are truly passionate about this field and transfer that onto the customer. Even as a female who is uneducated in this area of army supply; I never felt unwelcome or uncomfortable. Thumbs up for the staff at The Supply Sergeant. Prices are rather great especially for the wonderful quality of the goods. Plus, one can find awesome scores like a $2 pocket knife we purchased for emergencies to put in my car. Two dollars surely makes you think of a cheap, breakable, product but that isn't the case. It's obvious that The Supply Sergeant only sells products they believe in and don't jip a customer. I may not be the go-to gal for the ranking of an army supply store but my boyfriend sure is and this place gets the mark of approval from both of us. Whether seeking a small item or to stock up... The Supply Sergeant is definitely the creme de creme in the Burbank/East Valley area.

Jesse H.

Yelp
This place has a ton of cool, quality stuff. The people that run it are lazy and don't want really to help you at all. I dropped $1000 there on various items. Was met with a lot of complaining on the first visit for help. The second visit I was completely denied and told to go watch YouTube videos. Even though this place has a whole area in the back to test and shoot airsoft guns. They're just lazy and they don't really give a shit about you.

Jenna W.

Yelp
Dan helped me find the perfect pair of cargo pants and was incredibly patient as I sifted through the shelves! He had the best sense of humor and offered up some funny stories while he was helping me. I'll definitely be back.

Chuck D.

Yelp
This store and the staff are awesome. This is another one of those, I must have been driven by it over a 100 times but never stopped to check out type of places... until now. I was in need of a military type of look for Halloween and I needed it to be authentic. I found not only the perfect army green shirt but also a leg rig made by condor to hold magazine clips and what not but also a camouflage bandana. It was perfect.. The staff was friendly and super helpful. I appreciated that as this store is bigger than it looks from the outside. The super cool staff explained things to me as it was my first time in there and helped me narrow down the things I needed. And if I already didnt have camouflage pants I would've bought them here as they have all kinds. Everything from woodland to desert camo, they have it. In pants, shirts, tops, etc. They have it. I'm so glad I finally went to The Supply Sergeant. They had everything I needed. And this wont be my first and last stop in there. I'll be back soon when I have more time to roam their isles. There is so much to see and buy. No returns. Strict policy. Make sure to read it before buying. Parking out front along Magnolia. It's right next to H&S Bicycles.

David I.

Yelp
I never walked into an Army surplus store and had just a picture in my mind of what it would look like. Well...surprise, it was exactly like how I'd imagine. The place had a ton of stuff and it was super fun looking through the gear they had. Some of the things I thought that would be expensive turned out to be a heck of a lot cheaper than I was expecting. The guys working there was super friendly and helpful. I had two items they had to look in the back for, one was in their warehouse, and it took less than 5 minutes for them to get both items. Great service here.

Marisol U.

Yelp
I love this store for my army related needs! They have so much to chose from and their prices are great. I've called them over the phone to inquire about things being in stock before driving out from Valencia and they're always helpful enough to check for me! The only bummer is no military discount.

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
If I could give less than one star I would. The older tall slender guy with the big belt buckle and cowboy hat, told me in the midst of conversation that he supports women being slapped if they start screaming your face, and then he told me he slapped his sister when she got in his face, I said I don't agree with that and it is abusive and asked him if a man acted that way should you slap him, he said men don't act that way, and if they do it's just their monster coming out. He said well women are a different species and if I knew anything about psychology I would know that slapping a women is necessary if they are screaming in your face. I said well that is your opinion and I have my opinion and walked out. I was ASTOUNDED by such blatant misogyny and will NEVER give my business to this place again!!

Jay E.

Yelp
Lots of things to look at in this store. Quality items. I ended up buying a nice jacket. I'll be sure to come back next time.

Peter H.

Yelp
I like walking through the aisles to see what cool mil surplus stuff is for sale. Stock comes and goes so there is something different each visit. There are both foreign and domestic surplus items for sale especially clothing. For practical uses like camping, emergency preparedness and outdoor activities you will find a nice selection of gear for cooking, hiking, and basic survival. Waterproof matches, magnesium flint sticks, canteens, water purification, hiking boots, lightweight coffee percolators...the list goes on. It's really a place to find what you need and a chance to discover things you didn't know existed that you might want. Mainstream stores don't sell many of the unique things you'll find at the Supply Seargent. One thing you won't find is too much firearms related surplus. They don't sell surplus ammo cans or magazines (not this visit at least). If you've never been to a surplus store this is one I would recommend if ever you wanted to check one out.

Candace L.

Yelp
Picked up a rain poncho for myself from here before heading to Walt Disney World last week, knowing it would be raining. Saved myself some dough! Always a good idea. I feel The Supply Sergeant will meet most of your needs. I don't find myself in here often but it's been here forever and I've been in several times over the years for various different outdoor items. Street parking on Victory.

Cami V.

Yelp
Top notch goods and quick turn around on patches and dog tags! Multiple locations if the uniforms or pieces you need aren't at one just check another, they're all great! Good for vintage uniforms too

Neutral P.

Yelp
This military surplus store is better than the one in Hollywood because they have more variety and the store is a little bigger. I have bought some items in Hollywood location but Burbank location beat it. My apologies Hollywood location I love the military collection this place has, especially World War 2 to modern military items. If anyone is a huge fan of militarism, the Supply Sergeant is your location to go. You can go to either Hollywood area or Burbank.

John C.

Yelp
I like to mention that this store is every gentlemen's Toys R Us employees are incredible I live pretty far away from the store so I called to see if they have what I'm looking for and they went out of their way to take a picture and send it to me so I won't waste time driving down and driving back home I and upcoming to the store and bought what I needed please stop by they have uniforms and accessories survival kits and so on and there is always parking in the front

Eric S.

Yelp
Hands down one of the most awkward stores I've ever been to. The girl that works here had the worst customer service I've ever seen. I honestly believe she was high on pills . Then another gentle with a ponytail had to step in and try and help . This place has a very weird vibe . I would understand if they sold guns , but they don't.

Annette C.

Yelp
Great place, they carry a plethora of items for reasonable prices. This place will have everything you need. Staff is super friendly & helpful. Parking can be a difficult task, try parking in the back-limited spaces.

Abraham H.

Yelp
I just called them for information on an item I bought and they picked up the phone right away, were able to look up an item I need and were very professional and accurate. I am going tomorrow to pick the item up and they are 25% cheaper than other places. A++++. I don't get how other people give this great place a low rating. Never had a bad experience there and highly recommend it for all camping and military gear.

Dahlia Y.

Yelp
Very big store but a very unwelcoming environment. I'm sure it's because of my race. They talked amongst them and I got very weird stares and they seemed almost bothered that I asked where their pepper sprays were. Never coming back.

Janet L.

Yelp
This place and the staff who work there are incredible. I was on a tight deadline for a bunch of military wear and gear I needed for an event the very next day. The entire staff helped me find every size and gave me options for every single item. They are kind, helpful, patient and seriously helped me deliver the most epic costumes for talent I was producing for a big video game event. Everyone was in awe of the costumes and the actors were the highlight of the night. Thank you so much John, Michael and Anthony you guys seriously rock!

Ayelet I.

Yelp
Okay, so the guys that run this shop are a little hardcore and overenthusiastic about their love of the military and all things warfare...it does kind of come in handy when you need something in their field of expertise, creepy or not. And it is sort of creepy when you're greeted by a soldier figure with his hand blown off and immediately in front at the registers are cases full of knives. Some of them will be bought and used for hunting. Some will be bought by crazies who feel they are "being watched." But there's a lot of great stuff here, especially if you want to build up your camping supplies. They have freeze dried meals, cookware, canteens, wool blankets, ponchos, wellies, and less standard stuff like a portable outdoor shower that supplies hot water. Prices are pretty moderate. They also sell very cheap backpacks large enough for backpacking through Europe, your basic hoodies, belts, longjohns and thermals, and have a rad selection of crazy-ass hats. I tried on a fur-trimmed pilot cap that made me look like Amelia Earhart. Maybe if I was as kooky as some of the people that come in here I'd have bought it, but if I was going to buy anything it would have been one from their very complete and reasonably priced collection of gas masks from locales around the world. Only rather than being paranoid about the advent of nuclear warfare I'd be getting it for entertainment value.

Gerard I.

Yelp
When I was at MUD, and it was time to do molds, we needed a pair of coveralls so that we wouldn't stain up our clothes. I wasn't too familiar with the area, so I tagged along with some fellow classmates. Supply Sergeant was the "go to" place for our needs. I scooped up a pair, trashed the shit out of them, and a couple of years after, I came back and bought me another pair of coveralls for my "Wes Borland" Halloween costume. It worked out well. Next time I feel like dressing up for a costumed event, I'll be back to the 'ol sarge!

Deb T.

Yelp
I just about died when I first came to this place. Not only dies it have everything I could ever need in an emergency, it has all the essentials that my boyfriend needs. My boyfriend is a Navy vet and he is able to get his hands on just about anything that he had in the service. We ended up picking a nice pair of combat boots, bell bottoms, and a few other things. I am on the look out for a pea coat because I go through coats like socks (they get a nice wear and tear). I love the parrot that greets us when we walk in and the fact that everything is affordable.

Em H.

Yelp
Cool place, even if you're not super into this kind of stuff. I'm definitely not into machetes or army gear overall, but I still found it interesting to peruse every corner of this place. I went with a friend who is actually very into this kind of stuff, and he absolutely loved it, but I liked it as well. I'd suggest stopping in here just for fun if you're in the area and have some time to kill. Street parking is usually available right in front.

Sera C.

Yelp
This place is fantastic. Huge selection, friendly staff. Not just military surplus, but camping supplies as well. It's huge. Prices are pretty fair.
