We came here to get some of the to go loose leaf tea but also staid for a cup of vegan chai and regular chai. We both really enjoyed it and could see how fresh it was. We took home some mate and chair mixes and I really liked how their home made packaging tells you the temp and time to steep as well as their blend of ingredients. The mate was also really smooth and delicious. I definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area. The staff was also really friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was cute, we enjoyed reading one of their on display books that you could choose from while you relax and drink your tea.

Came in about 10:30 on a Saturday. Super chill atmosphere, wide selection of teas Nd even a coffee or two for here and to-go! So many things to look at while sitting at the tables.

Spent part of a lovely Sunday afternoon playing cribbage and drinking tea. The chi was amazing, definitely a must-have! Stop in for some good music, good tea, and good conversation!

my new fav tea spot. Great ambiance, played chess w friend, and studied for hours. Tried three teas, all delicious, and the mate energized me to keep working. Fantastic & sweet tea curator :)

Google
What a cute shop! Very eclectic inside and very kind staff. Beautiful assortment international teas. Can’t wait to come back!

Google
This was my first stop in Philadelphia and I got welcomed so well here. The smell of the chai fills you up right when you walk through the door. Wide range of tea selection, cool little items in their shop, and the back patio is gorgeous. And Julia was so kind and welcoming. It’s the perfect place. When I move to Philadelphia this will be my number one spot!

Went here right before COVID started and loved it. It’s very warm and cozy with great teas. Can’t wait till this pandemic is over.

Google
Nice spot for sure, with a wide range of teas. Most cafe's are coffee focused, only offering a few tea bags, this place has tons of tea brewed loose leaf with care. There are very few seats though so keep that in mind, its a small place, i think there are 4 tables 2 of which are 2 tops. Had a really nice relaxing time here. Wish they were open more days though!

Yelp
I wanted to come here for Chai but was too full after brunch so decided on the Tulsi Rose tea instead. I was expecting it to be served in a proper mug but was instead handed over a to-go cup. The tea was OK. I honestly hate to-go cups, can we please leave those for the big chains and keep it authentic for local coffee/tea shops by serving the drinks in an actual ceramic pot/cup? A cup of tea is a whole experience and you kill it by handing over a paper cup which ruins most of the flavor. Also, little to no effort in customer service.

Yelp
Fun small local tea shop. v friendly staff and patrons! Ordered the chai. Huge menu. Hope to go back to try another type.

Yelp
A friend and I came here for tea yesterday. The woman behind the counter was so kind and gave me amazing recommendations and let me try the sugar to see if I wanted to get a little jar of it. Tea was 10/10 for me - I got a jasmine tea which the employee said was very decadent. When I put one of those sugar cubes in it... sublime. My friend got the vegan chai. I took a taste of it and didn't love it but maybe a different milk (she had almond) would have made it a lot better. That said, I've had a chai at Starbucks with almond milk and it was delicious. I'd definitely come back again, it was a fun spot.

Yelp
Assortment of loose teas, staff was helpful and friendly. I usually go here over herbiary because it's more affordable.

Cherie C.

Yelp
Their masala chai mix is really good. I enjoyed that at home and it was great. I've gotten drinks made in-house and they are good as well. I like that their packaging is more eco-friendly. It's worth seeking out if you enjoy making loose tea at home.

Chris R.

Yelp
Best smelling shop in the city. Barista had unique music playing (which she happily shared with me) and juggled the entire Saturday crowd alone. Cool vibe, not a lot of cozy places like this anymore.

Yelp
In a neighborhood that reminded me of NYC's Greenwich Village is this unassuming shop. A few comfy seats are in the front, a small seating area in the rear and seats outside in the backyard. You can scan a QR code to see their menu or get one that's printed. It is quite an extensive menu of teas, which are brewed to order, hot or cold. If you bring your own container you get a discount. My companions knew this and came prepared. I ordered a hot chicory chai. The chai was nicely spiced although I didn't get the chicory. We were able to sit for a long time enjoying our teas. There were a couple playing chess, a person reading a book and others just conversing. Quite a nice little shop and you can also buy loose tea leaves to take home. No pictures as our travel mugs didn't allow for it.

Yelp
Have loved TRTR for over 10 years but last few times I've been in, it's felt like a mess. On my last visit, I looked around and actually wondered if they were closing! Books are gone. Old, worn but fun tarot deck is gone. There even were less cushions around the tables. It made me so sad. Owner is rarely there and in a small business like that, it definitely shows :( They were also out of their chai latte, which is all the buzz bc it's thaat good. The service always depends on who is tending but this time was exceptionally horrific. Coupled with the former points, it was a big disappointment. Wahhh.

Yelp
I love having a local tea room so close to our condo. My only complaint would be that it's not open more (which I totally get given staffing shortages and all the nonsense going on in the world today). This is a cute little spot where you can buy loose tea - and boy do they have a wealth to choose from - or get a prepared beverage for in-house or to go. Their chai smells and tastes delicious! The prices are more than fair when compared to other tea shops that I have been in. And even when you see some of their retail products at local markets like Riverwards, they don't seem to break the bank either. What you are getting is a high-quality item at a fair price. If you are in the shop, you are also getting friendly service! They also ship. So if you can't make it in during their hours, their are other ways to get their goods. I highly recommend you try to get in here, though!

Yelp
I've been waiting to go here for awhile now.. so maybe I let the anticipation get me a little. What I can say is the minute you walk inside the aromas are amazing from all the different teas and it automatically relaxes you. It is a lot smaller than what I expected and had quite a few people there. We patiently waited until a small group left so we could sit down. But when we did we were able to read (they have some pretty interesting books on the shelf), play some checkers and just talk. I believe there's an outside area but even after we told the lady helping us it was our first time no additional information was offered to us. It would be nice to tell us about the massages, outside area and anything else they offer here. I had the Moroccan Mint Tea which was hot and that was great but I expected it to have a lot more mint leaves inside of it and it only came with one small mint leaf, so that was a bit disappointing. I think we may have to come again to give it another shot and try the Chai tea everyone brags about.

Yelp
So I discovered this place from a Yelp Elite event and that event made me a customer! After the yelp elite event my cousin came to visit and wanted to go to a tea place. Our day was packed and we never made it here - so I gave her my yelp elite tea in consolation. I returned to the Random tea room a couple weeks later to replenish my stock. The ladies who work here are soooo nice and so helpful and set me up with a few good teas that I have been really enjoying. I got a gunpowder green (which I am drinking as I type) and a Assam chai tea which is sooo awesome. I am almost done that one so I will be back here soon (I promise!) to buy more of that deliciousness.

Yelp
@nommingnomad Approved! I found this spot when I was looking for a nice little cafe to sit and read my book for a while. It is in No Libs and it's a cute little space which is so cozy. I walked in and it smelled so divine. The barista was lovely and offered me the extensive tea menu and when I told her how I loved the smell permeating the whole space, she told me that it was their masala chai and that it was their specialty. I had to try it so I ordered mine with oat milk and settled down in a corner comfy chair. She brought it out pretty quick and while it was not the best cup of chai I've ever had, the whole vibe made up for it and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and above everything I felt som comfortable there. This one will def be in my regular rotation from now on. They also have a plethora of different teas and accoutrements for sale as well as a little case of treats. All in all! Extremely happy

Yelp
My experience was good here, but it wasn't a typical experience either as it was getting a nice big mug and quality tea bag for free! Seems like people including myself enjoy the styles and varieties of tea to choose from. This is truly what this place thrives in! I liked the ambiance even though small. I'm surprised to hear there was a place to "dine" in as it seemed too small for that and I was not under the impression that this was an option. One reviewer's dine-in experience was very off-kilter I noticed. Something about the venue "screams" that keep this venue as a shop, but maybe do away with the providing food and dine in if it doesn't seem to be working out or used much. Maybe, if you want to spice things up, try to have an acoustic solo music player play for 30 - 60 minutes and offer him one bag per 30 min. he plays at your tea room? Just a random idea (pun not intended). Thank you for having me to experience your tea room place Yelp and Random Tea Room!

Neil R.

Yelp
Word on the street is right - the masala chai is great. It's made fresh every single day and has the perfect blend of spiciness, cardomom, and milk. I am obligated to say that it is not as great as my mother's, but it is pretty damn close. There is limited seating here though, so I wouldn't plan on coming here during a busy weekend day to hang out. They also have a nice outdoor patio area that they are working on renovating that has a pretty good cozy feel. Great place to curl up with a book, but may not the ideal spot to work on your computer.

Yelp
I found this cool spot on Yelp and I'm telling ya, if I lived in Philadelphia, I'd hang out here all the time. The Random Tea Room is literally quite random. If you weren't looking for it you'd probably miss it. If you're a true tea person, you're going to be blown away by the thoughtful tea menu. The manager (and I feel bad I forgot her name) was so helpful and called it an "herbal apothecary" of teas. You can get nearly anything you're looking for and also add in extras like bee pollen or burdock root. I had the vanilla honey bourbon tea and my mom had a pour over coffee. Both were excellent with a nice aroma! The vibe is really cool. Inside, they sell tisanes, CBD honey and cute care packages. The seating is alternative so be ready that you may not sit in a traditional lumbar supportive chair. They have plants adorned throughout the shop and little works by local artists available for sale. Around us, people were reading excerpts from books (Gasp! People still read other than me?) and a fun sense of community where people knew each other's names. I'll be back the next time I'm in Philadelphia!

Yelp
It's mind boggling to see high ratings for this hole of a place. When I first moved back home, a friend who knew I enjoyed tea suggested we try this place. She drove, since I don't. Parking around here is complete insanity. We finally found a spot and had a long, cold walk to the place. When we arrived, I thought it was a derelict store front in a condemned building and we'd somehow missed the tea room. We rechecked the address. Nope-this was the place. The drinking/dining area was not much bigger than a tiny dining area in a private home. It was dim, dark and not at all inviting. Part of the low light stemmed from the unclean front window, the rest from the poor output of low wattage bulbs and heavy, dirty window covering. There were 3 tables vacant (3 tables PERIOD) but was no one at the counter to help us. There was an old dresser covered in tatty, not very fresh looking linens which served as an open display case for some wretched looking pastries on mismatched crockery. We did not know if we should seat ourselves or stand at the counter until someone came out to instruct us. I just wanted to get out of there but my friend was cold and insisted that she wanted to stay and try the house chai to warm up. After about 5 minutes, a sullen and unhealthy looking woman with a runny nose and an oversized wool cap came out, seated herself behind the counter and ignored us pointedly. I poked my friend to signal 'let's go,' but she greeted the woman and asked if the shop was open. The young woman said nothing but handed us a menu. We took a seat at a table with a grotty glass top. My friend said we should order a pot of the house chai and get some cookies or pastry. I pointed to the limp looking stuff we'd seen earlier and raised my eyebrows to indicate "really?!" The counter person, now really bored, must have been watching us and said, 'everything's vegan.' That would not even begin to account for why the baked goods looked so pathetic, unappetizing and shop worn. Vegan food and baking can be sheer delight; these sad bits and blobs were the antithesis of that. Since we clearly were not going to be waited on, my friend went back to the counter, ordered a pot of chai, a slice of banana bread and peanut butter cookies. She was told where to find cups, plates, napkins, utensils and saucers for the table. I asked for a glass of water and had a carafe pointed out. I grabbed it along with a napkin and used the wetted napkin to clean and then dry the glass table top. The white napkin was no longer white after being used as a cleaning cloth. As we sat and waited, wondering if we would have to make our own chai as well, another person came in and was greeted happily by the counter woman. Apparently, in addition to being a tea room, there was also a massage therapist doing business in this space. The customer was waiting for her massage appointment and chatted animatedly with the suddenly pleasant counter person. At least 15 minutes went by before we were told our chai was up. The woman made no motion to bring it to our table. My friend got it and then inquired about our pastry and cookies. A grungy hand pointed to the dresser, which held neither banana bread or cookies on display. I said there was nothing there that we had ordered and was told, "Gee, that's really too bad. It's all vegan." The dinged, chipped tea pot had seen better days, but the chai was hot. There was no milk in it or any sweetner and neither of us saw anything like that out for use. By then, the newest customer had disappeared somewhere for her massage and the counter person seemed absent as well. I asked my friend how much she wanted this tea. She looked at me and finally agreed that we should leave. I put the price of the tea on the counter, did not leave a tip and we departed this unwelcoming shop. Our hands were begrimed from everything we'd touched. The board of health should close this place down. While I really like mismatched silverware, crockery and been around the block a few times tea pots, I don't like lack of cleanliness, flippant attitudes, bad manners and surly service. We walked over to another little restaurant, Honey's Sit N' Eat, not too far from Random, where we were made to feel welcome. My friend and I washed our hands thoroughly, ordered a big, satisfying breakfast accompanied by a large pot of perfectly ordinary but very warming black tea with milk and sugar...all in very clean surroundings.

Yelp
What a neighborhood gem situated in a mostly residential area of Northern Liberties. If you didn't know it was there, you could walk right by it, but you would be missing out on a little very quirky tea shop where locals assemble. The chai latte was purported to be the house specialty and it lived up to its billing. Just great, with a subtle spicing which put it over the top. The baked goods and the CBD chocolate (yes, you read that right) were likewise wonderful. Amanda was a wonderful hostess and rounded out a great experience.

Yelp
Very cute and cozy! I love to visit tea shops while traveling. My husband and I were visiting from Chicago for the weekend - we hiked 35 minutes from Center City after reading the reviews about the homemade chai. I have no regrets! We also picked up some loose leaf tea that I smelled in the shop and can't wait to try at home! I try to buy teas that I can't get at home when I travel. Tulsi Rose and Heart Speak seem right up my alley!

Yelp
I absolutely enjoyed my first time experience at The Random Tea Room. Upon entering you grasp so many different aromas from the different types of tea. The ambiance was amazing and I felt so relaxed. I had the pleasure of enjoying the blue belly tea because my stomach was upset and played a game of checkers. My tea came with a filter straw which I thought was really cool. It made it easier to sip the tea without the tea leaves and spices. They offer massages and I believe tarot card reading in the back of the tea room. I didn't receive a massage but observed a few customers getting a massage. The staff was very well engaged and sweet. It is a little bit smaller than the photos online which I wasn't expecting. Overall, it was a great experience and cannot wait to visit again!

Yelp
I stopped by this tea room on a Saturday afternoon after having heard about it from a couple friends. The place isn't too big, but it is quirky and adorable inside. There have a small number of funky tables and seats, and there is art all over the walls. The windows are covered in plants and there's cute decorations all over. There was a lady working at the bar who handed us a huge tea menu with dozens of different kinds of teas broken up into different varieties. All are available in tea pots, and a lot are also available to go. They also have a few other options such as hot chocolate for those who aren't in the mood for tea. Additionally, next to the bar they sell some loose teas and other cute items. I ended up ordering the jasmine pearl tea to go. It took a few minutes to brew, but once I tried it, it was one of the best jasmine teas that I've ever had. This tea room is a gem and I look forward to coming back here!

Bridget K.

Yelp
Came here on a warm Friday afternoon in December. My brother and I were looking for a calm place to relax and talk. We ordered the Earl Grey Honeybush tea and the Chai Oats (we asked for them to be made with their vegan chai option.) The Earl Grey Honeybush was interesting. It was very floral tasting and at first reminded me of cleaning products. We added some honey to the tea and it was much better. I would probably try a different tea next time but I did enjoy the uniqueness of this tea! The chai oats could've been better... The cashier did warn us that the oats would be thinner due to the vegan chai. Their regular chai is much thicker. The oats were good but lacked thickness and flavor but we understood why! The atmosphere is very calm and eclectic. We enjoyed looking at their products, merchandise and baked goods. They offered regular, gluten free and vegan baked goods. I think the variety changes daily. We liked looking through one of their tea inspired cook books. The prices were reasonable too! Definitely will be back to try more teas!

Yelp
The finest Chai Latte on the market handssss down. Go here. For. Tea. You're Welcome.

Yelp
This tea lover's paradise offers a dose of tranquility and a respite from the hectic world that lies outside. Spend five minutes here drinking green iced tea and you'll feel oh so very zen without even trying! Even the loo here brings solace. Were I to live in Philly, you'd find me blissing out at The Random Tea Room with some regularity.

Ruth C.

Yelp
Our party of five was sent down the street from Honey's to idle here while we waited for our table. This is a regular enough occurance for them to use walkie talkies. Just walking in definitely gives a good impression. I felt like I was walking into a crazy auntie's place who hoards everything decor-related and put all the cool stuff in the parlor for a mix'n'match. Rocking chair, folding chairs, bench, stool, wingback chair. I'm really torn. The chai was a two star experience but I'm in love with the space enough to give their teas another chance. The tea menu has a decent selection, organized into categories so there are an average of three options per tea type. I like that you can try one cup at a time, or find a favorite and opt for a whole brewing portion. I raised an eyebrow when John's chai order started her whisking the little pot on the miniburner. Extremely hot liquids are adequately insulated in their cups. Kevin enjoyed his green tea so much that he didn't want to share, so I'm rounding up in good faith. The chai was unappetizing enough to be given to me to finish; cardamom and clove flavors dominated in a good way, but the laced undertone of scorched herbs was pretty off-putting. Nice brochures by the door for some local attractions, perfect for the tourists like me. Creepy customer at the counter aside, I'd be just as happy coming in for a quiet place to read a book, or people-watch during warmer weather.

Karen Z.

Yelp
One of the most unique cafes I've been to to date. I still reminisce about living in Philly and bringing friends here for long, winding conversations about life... something about the ambiance here makes it so easy to melt into the richest of heart-to-hearts :-) Their chai oats is a must try! The chai here is excellent.

Yelp
The Random Tea Room is an adorable tea shop that I wish wasn't so far away so I could come back more! I rarely venture into Northern Liberties since it's a bit of a trek for me, but I passed by this place the first time I went to Honey's Sit 'n Eat, and made a mental note to myself to check it out the next time I came back. The inside is very cozy, with an eclectic mix of furniture (couches, armchairs, stools, etc.) and a shelf full of tea accessories for sale. It has a very relaxing atmosphere - mostly New Age music playing in the background, which my friend said almost lulled him to sleep. It's the kind of place to chill in with a good book on a rainy day. They also have cards, a chess/checkers table, and some books on the side if you're looking for something to do. I ordered the Moroccan mint tea ($3.50 for a large cup). Garnished with a few mint leaves, it was perfect for a cold winter day! Bonus: there was a friendly dog in the shop that alternated between napping on the armchair, staring out the window, and trotting around the store. It seemed to be particularly photogenic and didn't mind that my friends and I kept taking pictures of it.

Sondra H.

Yelp
The place is cute. It has a cozy, relaxed vibe. There's a front room with lots of outlets, seating in a back garden area, plus a massage room. I came here specifically for the chai... Chai is made fresh daily and ladled up from a large pot sitting on a hot plate behind the counter. You can smell it when you enter. It's spicy with lots of ginger and licorice flavor, but lacks the richness of a traditional chai spice blend, so comes off a bit thin. At $5.75 a cup, I've had better.

Abraham K.

Yelp
Really cool spot, probably one of my favorite hang out places here in Philly. There's a small indoor seating area that feels like being in someone's house. Fun assortment of jewelry, art exhibition, and tea-related things. There's also an outdoor patio that's well directed. Plenty of loose leaf teas and you can get a pot (or a couple) to share with friends.

Claudia H.

Yelp
Fantastic little spot for tea, snacks, and chess! This is a very intimate cafe with a great vibe and extensive tea selection. Their chai masala is made fresh daily and is out of this world. Their Mediterranean platter and chai oatmeal are also very very good. They have a decently sized selection of gluten free and vegan sweets and herbs, mugs, and tea accessories for sale. Overall, definitely recommend

Jenny F.

Yelp
An unforgettable air of mystery A glorious sense of fun A warm feel of joy A good cup of tea A visit here refreshed my soul! Lovely lovely tea house!

Britta U.

Yelp
We came here after a leisurely winter-run along the river to warm up and get a small sugary snack. The teas were all amazing and we bought a few to take home: A Chai Tea and the 'Respiratory Rescue', all part of their house-blends. I would order some to be shipped to Paris if it wasn't so against my locally sourced spirit. So I'll just have to come back soon! The glutenfree Matcha scone and flat rosemary cookie were super yummy. The owner was very friendly and took her time to properly prepare the teas we had ordered.

Drina F.

Yelp
I found this place during a short 3 day visit to Philly. I loved it so much that I had to go back again. Such a cute and cozy tea shop in a pretty obscure location (name definitely suits it). When you go in it is small, a little dusty, and reminds you of your sweet old grandmother's house. The furniture is a mix of vintage pieces. As far as the tea, they have large variety of teas from around the world. My head was spinning reading about the varieties. You can also purchase these teas to take with you. When it came time to order, I decided to go with their Chai tea, which seems to be the most popular choice. When I tasted it I could absolutely see why. They put a lot of care into making this Chai and it's definitely the best chai tea I have ever had. It was creamy and had a complex blend of spice and the perfect sweetness. I shared a large pot with a friend and we killed it. We also had a nice game of checkers. If I lived in Philly, this would definitely be my oasis. It is the epitome of what you expect a tea shop to be. If you come to Philly and are looking for a break from the bustling city, this is THE place to be. Can't wait to visit again!

Madeleine J.

Yelp
I've been wanting to go to a tea shop for awhile now and my boyfriend found this little hidden gem. We read a recent comment on this app and was a little hesitant due to the aggressive wording and overall tone. Honestly that comment couldn't be more wrong, such a pleasant experience. We walked into the Random Tea Room and was immediately greeted by a cheerful woman. She was not only extremely knowledgeable about the extensive tea menu but also was very willing to share her favorites with us. We ended up getting a few of her recommendations, among which was the Arnold Balmer (10/10 would recommend as well). Currently, they're open Thursdays from 12-6...We can't wait for things to open up more so we can return for a fuller experience. Definitely check out this small business! You won't regret it.

Shauna J.

Yelp
Incredibly adorable. There are only about 4 tables in the place, which can make it rather tight, but I had no problem grabbing some seats on a lazy Sunday afternoon. The tea selection is large and the menu has great detail about the tea. My date & I decided to split a pot of the Jasmine Pearls which was very tasty. Service was on the slow side, but there is only one staff member, and I actually think the service speed kind of fits the mood of the place. In addition to tea, there is a small shopping area with unique items such as 'Everything Dies: A Coloring Book About Life'. I will definitely return again and will be sure to check out the back patio in the summer time.

Sara P.

Yelp
This is a really special place. I first came here a few months ago because my little brother was playing a show in Fishtown. It has such a great atmosphere and the masala chai is...beautiful. I've been back several times since (for the mug sale, which is brilliant), and I will continue to come back to this place. Absolutely worth the visit and if you have an hour to sit and admire the curation of random things as you drink whatever delicious item menu you've chosen, do it.

Yelp
A good warming place for a cup of tea with friend. Usually I don't like the Chai , taste too strong and fake all the time. BUT here I found the really nice blended Chia Tea ~ natural taste ~ creamy, spicy, just perfect! Will definitely recommend! Must come here again~;)

Yelp
Tea was good. They have almond milk available if you like alternative. Would have given them a 4 star but had to deduct some because... $2.50 for a tiny macaroon are you joking But overall it was the rudeness of the employee that upset us. Said hello 3 times before a response and got the vibe we were unwelcome. Won't go back primarily due to that.

Yelp
Looking for a nice cozy spot to sip some well-brewed tea and catch up with a friend? Or are you wanting a small living room to sit in while you drink tea and read? Then you've come to the eight place! The staff is friendly, the space is small and cozy, it's quiet, there's a cute backyard, and the tea is really good. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Her you can- Drink on some of the best tea brews in Philly. Study, get work done, zone out, chill out, balance your energies, with a small group, a friend, family or solo in their indoor tea room or quaint back yard garden. From the all day brewing tradition Chai, to the Mexican brewed cacao, to the hang over tamer, the tea here and ambience makes this my favorite tea room, tea spot in ALL of Philly ! I've been coming here for well over 6 years now! I love the vibe that the owner and her staff have created here! A sanctuary for a tea lover year round. My ratings are based on a 5 star scale. Where 1 star is tragic and 5 star is Ouwww terrific!  Overall ratings- 5 star Customer service- 5 star. Always friendly, inviting and informative. Decor- 4 star not fancy, but perfect for what it is " A Random Tea Room AND curiosity shop " Ambiance- 5 star! A tea lover's dream! I literally can come here and escape from the everyday bustle. Note- Everything is for sale. It's a Curiosity shop.

Yelp
I obviously came here because I was randomly curious. But I also came because Juliana S. seriously had me craving a cup of their chai ever since we had a good conversation about it. I also really needed to stock up on some loose leaf tea to better prep myself for the cold part of winter that's brewing (please don't be a high of 18 degrees tomorrow!). And after reading through the vast menu I knew that this was the only place to go! As soon as I walked in I was instantly greeted by two friendly faces, and became instantly enticed by all the incredible teapots and jewelry that the place offered. Bonus points for the beautiful decor and fact that they had a checkerboard table! taking the first sip of Chai was like entering a spice filled nirvana. It's made fresh daily and is loaded with ginger, brown sugar, Assam tea, vanilla, rose water and fresh ground spices. talk about enticing the senses! While most Tea spots like Tbar and Remedy win out on the size factor, Random Tea Room definitely wins out on the quality of what they offer. While some blends are shipped out from across the globe, others are blended on site. And now that I have bags of Morroccan Mint, Argentinean Yerba Mate, and For The Defense (an herbal blend of cinnamon, lapacho, ginger, dandelion, clove, lemon, licorice, and elder berries!) I can honestly say that I'm prepared to take on old man winter.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place's Chai Tea. You can literally smell it as soon as you open the door. It's made fresh everyday. Now, just so you know, each employee makes it a little different, so if you do not like it that much please try it again when a different person is working. The ambiance of this place is awesome.

Yelp
This place rocks. Although I haven't been often since I live far from Northern Liberties, the few times I had been were incredibly relaxing and productive, and I could do my work in the peace and quiet while ordering teas whenever the mood struck. The menu is printed on paper and there's pretty much every tea you can think of. The prices are incredibly reasonable, and I was there for several hours but the tab was less than $15.

Yelp
Very cool spot to check out in philly! This little gem has a very unique atmosphere with indoor seating and an outdoor patio! They offer all different types of tea blends and spices. You can buy the tea blends and make them on your own or relax and enjoy a cup of tea inside! The staff was very friendly and educated my friend and I about the various drinks they had to offer! We both ended up ordering the Iced chai tea, which is one of their favorites! I definitely will be back!

Yelp
A great neighborhood teahouse, this little shop offers around 40 different premium loose tea varieties, either as a dine-in pot serving, to-go cup, or by weight to take home and enjoy. It just opened on 2/22/08 and so far it seems to be perfect place for an easy relaxing break. The tea menu is very descriptive and offers several house blended specialties and healing herbal infusions. I tried the Belly Blend which was sweet, soothing and is supposed to calm the digestive tract. I really want to return to try the signature Chai Masala, which is made daily from scratch and "made with love and devotion." What I can appreciate most by stepping into this teahouse is the passion and expertise behind it. Tea accessories and antiques abound, the ambiance is calm, quiet and the music is worldly. I recommend you go to The Random Tea House for that escape over a hot cup of tea and scone. They also offer several indulgences, from body care products, jewelry (!) and hats. Free Wi-Fi internet.

Yelp
This spot is brand new, so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt to work out any kinks... but dang, they brew a mean cup o' chai. Srsly good. In fact, I took photos and wrote a blog post about it. http://thepovertyjetset.com/2008/03/05/new-northern-liberties-tea-shop/

Yelp
I'm so glad this place still exists. It's been here for years and it's still got the absolute best chai you can buy. They of course also have a huge selection of other very tasty teas, and the space itself is super cozy and inviting.

Yelp
Lets be honest- what do I earnestly know about food?? But if there's one thing Indian peeps know is a good cup of chai. Thoughts of my mom painstakingly grounding fresh cardamom into black tea and milk comes to mind.. The random tea room is completely random and completely awesome! It's all shabby chic-grandma's living room decor.. Not my fave, but the tea more than makes up for any shortcomings. The masala chai rivals my mom's and I hate to admit it (sorry mom) it's actually better. Warm, spicy and wonderful, I burned my entire mouth as I eagerly gulped this little cup of heaven. Get a scone and a nice cup of chai- you will not be disappointed...

Yelp
This tiny establishment is so cute inside that I'm glad I stopped by. As I opened the door, I was greeted by the aroma of spices. Inside, there are mugs hanging on one wall, and across the room there are tea-related things such as teapots, strainers, and culinary tea books on display. My favorite is this placard that says "MAKE TEA NOT WAR." The shop lives up to its name; it is indeed curious to say the least. Despite the quirky interior, I had a great experience. The lady behind the counter was friendly and patient to my lack of tea knowledge. I ordered a small mug of chai masala because she said it's the most popular drink there and it's made fresh every morning. It tasted different from the chai tea I get when I go to Sitar (an Indian buffet in University City)--the spices are a lot stronger, and I think it's the aroma from the spices in the chai that filled the room. Because I just ate at Honey's when I went here, I couldn't down my chai right then and there. I asked the lady if I could take the chai to go, and she kindly poured it into a coffee cup. It was a good choice to take the chai to-go because it warmed me in my journey back home. Even though it's out of the way for me to go here, I would certainly visit the Random Tea Room again to try another tea.

Yelp
Absolutely LOVED it here. The atmosphere was wonderful. The staff were nice and chill. My boyfriend and I came here after lunch for some tea & we even played a game of chess. It felt as if we stepped out of Philadelphia for a little while & into a whole new world. I agree with the other reviews about it feeling like Alice in Wonderland. I can't wait to come back. Some of my friends are eager to try too! OH and most importantly, the tea was delicious. They have a lot of variety. Can't wait to try them all.
