Power and the Glory – A Cape Town Gem Power and the Glory is a place that I find myself returning to time and time again. Whether I’m working on my laptop over a flat white (with oat milk. No almond, but still delicious every time) or stopping by for brunch, a glass of wine, or even one of their famous hot dogs, there’s something about this space that keeps me coming back. The vibe is unbeatable. It’s effortlessly cool and relaxed, buzzing with life in the best way. The benches and shared tables encourage chats with your neighbors, and it’s the perfect spot for people-watching on Kloof Street. There’s a natural flow here, from a calm daytime cafe to an after-work bar once the doors open around 4 or 5, where the atmosphere shifts to that perfect post-office drinks hangout. It’s social, vibey, and feels like the heart of the neighborhood. The Food Let’s talk about the quiche. Honestly, the best quiche I’ve ever had. It’s vegetarian, with broccoli as the hero ingredient, and it’s nothing short of perfection. The filling is creamy and packed with flavor, and the crust is buttery, crisp, and perfectly flaky. It’s paired with a side salad loaded with crumbles of feta and a thick, punchy honey mustard dressing that’s both sharp and sweet. Together, it’s magic on a plate. Then there’s their hot dog. It’s legendary for a reason. The sausage is huge, juicy, and has that perfect snap with every bite. It’s served on a soft yet crisp, chewy pretzel bun that elevates it to another level, and the classic toppings, tomato sauce and mustard, are generously applied without being messy. Every bite is pure, satisfying comfort food. Whether you’re sipping on kombucha, coffee, or a glass of wine, Power and the Glory just gets it right. The staff are always friendly, the vibe is effortlessly welcoming, and the food is as satisfying as it is unpretentious. It’s the kind of place where you can spend hours, whether you’re working, people-watching, or catching up with friends. This spot has a piece of my heart, and I’ll keep coming back for the quiche, the hot dog, and everything in between.

We were in Cape Town in July 2024. We stayed across the street from this spot. We had pickle backs every night and their breakfast sandwiches were delicious.

Great atmosphere, delicious food and friendly staff. The place is absolutely beautiful, and looks so warm and inviting. The staff was helpful and friendly, and the food looked absolutely incredible. Quaint coffee shop by day, The power and The Glory is transformed into a bustling bar by night. Definitely worth visiting.

This bar is my absolute favorite spot in CT. It is filled with interesting people of different age, the service is great, the music in the evening also and the beer from the tap is as perfect as a cold beer can be. In comparison to the other bars for example on the Kloof Street this spot is not e unique. The people here are not that “want to be seen like” - it feels more like real life here.

Best hotdog in town. Tasty, great portion, and deliciously toasted. Classic hotdog for R75.

One of my all time favs. Service is always friendly with a smile & excellent recommendations Love that they make it cosy in the winter, one of the few places you can go to & literally not freeze your butt off! 😉

Super vibey spot for evening beers and a boogie. Pleasantly surprised with how good the food is… we had to go back a second time and everything was delicious! Class all round if maybe on the pricey side.

A must visit bar in Cape Town. Perfectly situated under the shadow of Table Mountain. Very trendy crowd, prepare to see plenty of moustaches and tattoos! Always a great atmosphere and nice beers on tap. Definitely a good spot to visit on a hot summer's night before heading upstairs to go dance at The Moveable Feast.
