"The Populist Brewery Turkey isn’t known for its beer, with most menus dominated by the serviceable yet flavorless Efes. The craft beer movement has been gratefully welcomed (especially by expats), and a few breweries have popped up in Istanbul in recent years. The Populist brewery is part ofBomontiada,a massive complex of art and performance spaces, shops, restaurants, and nightlife on the site of the former Bomonti Beer Factory, which closed in the 1950s and was abandoned for several decades. Populist’s food menu is standard pub fare, with a few surprises like a lamb burger with Carolina mustard sauce and a flatbread pizza with kokoreç (better-than-it-sounds grilled lamb intestines). The rotating selection of 12 beers on tap might include aBelgian Turkish wheat with anise and a hoppy IPA. To reach Bomontiada, take the metro to Osmanbey, and from there it’s a 10- to 15-minute walk through a historically diverse and rapidly changing neighborhood."

We started with the beer sampler set consisting of 6 different 1/3 of a pint each. I liked the wheat and the red ale ones the most. Then we ordered Guacamole which comes with its traditional sides salsa sauce and tortilla chips. Guac was rich in flavor, and was obviously prepared with its original spices. It could be a bit more chunky, instead of mushy. The beef brisket sandwich with cheddar cheese was superb! Extremely savory and the tenderness of the meat was very good. The place is good for outdoor dining. Especially in the spring and summer. Service is quite good, tables are well kept, clean and neat. Personnel is nice and food comes as quick as possible. Overall score 4.3/5 for an Outdoor Bar

I’m visiting Istanbul from America and was craving a little bit of my home food. This place was perfect and super busy! Even though they were busy I still received great service. Would definitely recommend this place!

Staffs are very friendly and helpful, vibe is fine but I don't understand why u will have to go through a security door and the Entrance is not very obvious if u can't read Turkish, would say standard craft beer except their Nitro Stout which is really a gem. Foods are lovely as well, would definitely give it a 5 star if it's not a taproom.

I liked the vibe and music, the staff were ready to help, I liked the Sangria, it was full of fresh strawberry and orange But they added 10% extra to bill for service although I’m not sure that I saw in the menu

Very nice place for a beer since they have a mesmerizing collection, food was always ok but upon my last visit it was pn the downside. İ ordered a Oktoberfest special Dana snitzel which was pre-cooked and very hard to eat .

An amazing corner in historical beer factory! Cool vibes, specially brewed beers and tasty bites. You should check out Tokyo Zen or Honey Pepper Ale. Thank you Doruk for the great service with a smiley face!

The beer is really really good, but the prices are very steep. Even after ordering so many drinks they did not offer any snacks, i find this attitude very cheap. The ambience is nice, the music is not loud, but the bar looks very sad. It is empty, no one is offered to seat there. The seating arrangement can be improved.
