The Plimsoll is a vibrant Finsbury Park pub, serving stellar small plates alongside one of London's best cheeseburgers in a delightfully laid-back setting.
"The Plimsoll is home to a VIB. In case you’re not down with our deeply obnoxious food acronyms, that’s a Very Important Burger. Four Legs is behind this burger. No, we’re not making a cow joke, that’s the name of the chef duo who created this outstanding piece of beefy, buttery craftsmanship, alongside gutsy small plates. They’re running the food at this restored Finsbury Park pub. And it’s the kind of boozer that’s just the right side of dingy chic to allow for a comforting group meal—you can only book for six or fewer—that revolves around pints and of course, that burger. "The idea of going to a pub vs. opening a pub are two very different things. So when Four Legs launched a fundraiser to help reopen the former Auld Triangle in Finsbury Park as The Plimsoll we looked on in equal parts awe and trepidation. We should’ve known better. These guys are fearless and fun. It’s one thing doing up a boozer, telling longtime locals you’re going to be making seafood escabeche and wishing them luck. It’s quite another telling them all that and promising it will still be a place for them. But it’s just that and more." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak
"Four Legs made their name at The Compton Arms where they helped create and nurture a delicious and fun kind of pub eating. At The Plimsoll, a boozer in Finsbury Park, they’ve taken their winning combination of one of London’s best burgers and floral crockery to the next level. The Dexter burger is an outstanding piece of beefy, buttery craftsmanship. It’s all meat, cheese, sauce, and gherkins. No lettuce. If you’re not into McDonald’s-style burgers, you may not like this. But the odds are, you will." - jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna
"The Plimsoll in Finsbury Park was once an Irish boozer that let Guinness rightfully rest and had Arsenal playing on the projector. It’s now the kind of pub that lets Guinness rightfully rest while serving a whole lemon sole and more elegant British food from the kitchen. The bar area is still ideal to perch in with a pint but make sure you book ahead if you want dinner in the week (there’s a limited menu on weekends) because the popularity of their famous cheeseburger hasn’t waned." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, sinead cranna
"A pub? That serves small plates? Anything that’s liable to cause Rod Liddle to have a cardiac arrest is alright by us. The Finsbury Park local also makes one of the most stunningly McDonald’s-esque cheeseburgers in town." - jake missing, heidi lauth beasley, sinead cranna
