"A real neighbourhood institution rescued by the locals when it was threatened with redevelopment over a decade ago. The pineapple fruit - so I was told by a regular when I was last in there - is a symbol of welcome, and there’s plenty of both here. This popular local has a fantastic 19th century interior with a conservatory out the back and a great deal of charm." - Chrissie Macdonald & Andrew Rae

"Bars? Never really trusted them mate. They’re just pubs with fewer food options, serving beer at a higher price. If that sounds like you, then The Pineapple should be on your first date radar. This pub in Kentish Town has all your classic ales, lagers, and spirits, but has just the right amount of character to make it feel romantic. You’ll usually find a bunch of merry locals at the bar, but if you venture out back to their conservatory then you have all the quaint charm of Richmond Park without having to risk a long trip on the District line. Kind of. " - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, sinead cranna

"The Pineapple is one of those old-school backstreet drinking dens that is equal parts classy and casual. Just like you, right? This Kentish Town local also happens to have a big conservatory and garden out back that’s peak ‘first date in the sunshine’ material. You’re mostly here for a couple pints that might turn into cocktails, but there’s some decent Thai food on offer if all that wooing makes you peckish." - heidi lauth beasley, rianne shlebak

"Pub-loving Kentish Towners get all smug about The Pineapple. While so many other pubs go gastro, this remains an old-fashioned place where locals of all ages gather to booze and schmooze. The crowded front and side rooms are where the social action is, the big conservatory in the back is where you can stretch your legs, and the garden is the place for good weather. Come and share the smug love." - Richard Ehrlich 3, Oliver Feldman, Jake Oliver

"Suggesting a pub for before or after a gig is not groundbreaking stuff, but The Pineapple has a secret weapon to assist in your search for sustenance: king prawn panang. A beloved backstreet boozer in Kentish Town, this old-school pub serves a great menu of Thai classics alongside pints and happy hour cocktails. From pad si ew to a rich lamb massaman, most of the dishes here are under a tenner, and the weekend midnight closing time is perfect for when you require a couple more debrief drinks before calling it a night.
