Fantastic! Definitely the best meal we had in Newport (and we had many great ones). Also, one of the best seafood restaurants I've dined at. We had oysters, clam chowder, lobster rolls, shrimp pasta, the tuna and the cod. All absolutely delicious. The biscuits are huge-- one can easily serve 3-4 people. Menu is extensive for a seafood restaurant. Cocktails were excellent too. Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive. We dined at night but had it been daytime, the view would be beautiful overlooking the water Definitely recommend.

We had a phenomenal time at the moorings! The food was impeccable, and the service by our server Allie and the manager on the floor tonight was fantastic. I have gluten and dairy allergies so finding places to eat that can accommodate both allergies can be pretty difficult – especially when you are looking for something as specific as a gluten and dairy free lobster roll. This was my first time to Rhode Island and I had my heart set on having a phenomenal lobster roll bit wasn’t sure of the feasibility…the mooring did not disappoint. We will 100% be back!

Great food and ambiance. Our server was hard to find though. I think I waited for nearly 30 minutes for a drink I had ordered. Didn't bother with dessert because we waited so long to even get the check.

Pros: Kind and attentive waitress, great oysters, good chowder Cons: Main dishes are pricey and lacking flavor I didn’t want to believe what I read in other reviews and saw on tiktok about the food here, but unfortunately I have to agree. I would stick to appetizers and drinks here and avoid getting main dishes as they basically just don’t taste good in their lack of flavor. Especially for the cost.

The food and service were both phenomenal. My girlfriend and I went here for the first time to celebrate her birthday and everything from the bread to dessert was executed perfectly. We had the octopus and crab toast for appetizers and were blown away. The octopus was cooked perfectly; not overcooked and rubbery at all, just decadent. The crab toast was unique and perfect in every way. The bread was the perfect amount of toasted to be the perfect vessel for the crab without being too hard that it hurt to eat. We also got oysters which were amazing, but the mignonette was a true standout. Unique and delicious. For dinner we both got the seafood pasta and it was to die for. Usually the camera eats first but the food was so good we forgot to snap a pic of the main course. We will definitely be back and highly recommend you go here. Ask for Michelle for a waitress. She is really really good at her craft

Absolutely incredible!!!! The food! The ambiance!! This was THE BEST clam chowder I have ever had. We also got the biscuit- we were blown away. One huge crispy biscuit with soft butter layers!!!! Incredible!!! We were full from all that so got a salad (perfection) with very fresh salmon on top. This restaurant should be a staple in every trip to Newport!!

Wow. This was one of the best dining experiences we have had in a while. The food was delicious and came out so fast. Our waitress was so wonderful. We had nothing but amazing things to say after eating here. (Get the lobster roll & filet you won’t regret it)

The warm lobster roll was delicious and so was the seafood pasta! We got to sit outside the covered and heated patio which was so nice. Not as loud as inside! Definitely make a reservation

At The Mooring in Newport, the Classic Mooring Clam Chowder was a standout--rich, hearty, and everything a New England chowder should be. The Native Scallop Chowder, however, didn't quite deliver, its flavors falling a bit flat by comparison. The Sole Milanese was a satisfying choice, crisp and well-executed, but the real prize was the Lobster Roll. Generous chunks of sweet, perfectly cooked lobster, served warm, it had the the right touch of dressing, and a buttery toasted roll--it's easily the best we've had, and we've sampled lobster rolls up and down the East Coast. With its waterfront charm and a menu anchored by undeniable highlights, The Mooring remains a must-visit in Newport.

We went to the Mooring and had a fantastic meal! The restaurant was situated on the water and had spectacular view. We managed to go just when the sun set and it was a gorgeous view! The service was incredible and our waiter was extremely kind and attentive. We ordered the calamari, warm buttered lobster roll, and Boillabaisse. All were delicious and one of the best lobster rolls I've had! The boillabaisse was a lot larger than we had thought and could definitely feed more than 2 people!

We had such a nice Christmas Eve dinner ! Sharon was our awesome server and despite the craziness of the busy holiday, she held it together with a smile and grace ! But those shrimp and lobster fritters ... worth the trip itself! YUM! With a nice maple aioli. Great drinks .... yummy lobster rolls, what more could you ask for ? We will be back again!

You'll always get a great meal here and the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming! Our waitress was attentive and helpful with making recommendations from the menu.

Beautiful location, right on the water! the sunset must be amazing. We had a later reservation so it was dark outside but the time, it's something to keep in mind. Our server Maddie was exceptional. She described the dishes so well, it was mouthwatering as we listened. Her suggestion were all great. The food is so awesome in Newport. This place is equally great. Muscles were amazing in a light tomato broth. The halibut special was described perfectly by our server. Tuna was seared perfectly, fresh n flavorful sushi quality, even the 3 bean salad accompaniment was refreshing. Parking is not validated. So better to Uber or walk to the location. The scallop was in a curry broth, I never had it like that perfectly seared then put in this curry gravy/ sauce, the combination waited very well. For desert we had the espresso gelato n key lime pie. Definitely a great meal.

If I had to sum up my experience at The Mooring Seafood Kitchen & Bar in one word, I would use stupendous. I highly recommend making a reservation through OpenTable. One time last month, my family and I came to try to get a table or even to sit at the bar, but there were no seats at all. I learnt my lesson and made a OpenTable reservation for a table for 2 on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 12:45pm. We showed up around 12:00pm and were seated right away though we were early for our reservation. The restaurant was packed! I started with a seasonal cocktail called the Whatthemelon, which has raspberry vodka, watermelon, citrus. This was wonderful and I really enjoyed the vodka and watermelon. My husband got another seasonal cocktail called The Mooring Painkiller, which has Pusser's Rum, tropical juices, coconut, and nutmeg. He enjoyed it. We started with a cup of the classic Mooring clam chowder and lobster-shrimp fritters with a maple chipotle aioli sauce. This was probably the best clam chowder I've had. It was so creamy. The lobster-shrimp fritters were also very good. You can actually see lobster and shrimp pieces and it wasn't overly fried. Dipping these into the sauce was delicious. For entree, I had the Seafood Pasta, which had scallop and shrimp, calabrian chile-lime butter, spaghetti, scallions, and topped with crumbs. The first bite I had of the spaghetti and scallop was mouthwatering. This was so succulent and luscious. I couldn't finish it all and packed it for later. My husband had the grilled salmon with creamed corn, chia seeds, lardons, overnight tomato, smoked onion jam, and tobiko. He also liked his entree. By the end of the meal, we were stuffed and couldn't fit in dessert. Truly an A+ meal and dining experience. Christine was our server and she was very friendly. When she bought our check over, I scanned the QR code to pay through Toast Pay. It was very easy. I can't wait to come back to The Mooring Seafood Kitchen & Bar.

Newport is full of amazing restaurants and the Mooring is up there as one of the best. Beautiful location right in the harbor and quintessential New England vibes. We started with oysters which were fresh and flavorful. For dinner we shared the Bouillabaisse for two and it was outstanding! It was a great value for what you were served. A large pan of fish, lobster, mussels, and shrimp in a fennel tomato broth and served with grilled bread and saffron aioli. This was one of our favorite meals we at this week. My husband, who is just becoming a seafood fan, could not stop raving about it. Please make this one of your stops while in town.

Lots of food!! Make sure you go to the Mooring hungry. The place was popping and it seemed like the place to go on Sunday night. We started with the lobster shrimp fritters and they were so so good!! For main we shared the BOUILLABAISSE and it didn't disappoint. It was so much food!! I would actually suggest that this meal is for 3 hungry people. My only comment on the lobster was that it was a little chewy otherwise the rest of the seafood was done beautifully. The service was quick and thoughtful and the ambiance was cozy but fancy.

Food is good, view is amazing and service is fantastic. We got the lobster roll, clam chowder and cocktail shrimp. I highly recommend all of them. It is a little overpriced but I think it's expected because of the location. Service fantastic. They are fast and super friendly. Recommend to make a reservation on open table!

8/3/24 Update: We came for dinner. - Cocktails were great! The group ordered southern style cocktails made with Makers Mart. It might've been the Bourbon Bramble. Very refreshing! - Appetizers: We started out with the Crab Toast and Baked Oysters. The Crab Toast was very tasty. Unfortunately, the Oysters were disappointing. - Entrees: I had the Halibut (Not the special) which was disappointing. Two people in my group had Lobster Rolls. They felt the Lobster was dry. Seafood Pasta was ordered. My friend liked it. - Service was pretty good. However, I think they could probably use more help, particularly on the weekend. - Ambiance: Restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating with lovely views of the water. The restaurant has a parking lot, but we didn't want to go through the hassle we did in '22. We parked elsewhere. Please see my original review. In the future, we might just come in for drinks and the beautiful water views. There are a lot of other restaurants in the area. Feel that the Mooring can do a lot better.

Went to Newport with a few good friends and The Mooring came highly recommended. It was super delicious and we left STUFFED. We got the bouillabaisse which could have easily fed 4 people, the scallop chowder, and each oyster they were offering that day. We were able to sit outside and look out on the water. Really pretty place and great food!

Good spot on waterfront in Newport Rhode Island. Great views, spacious inside! Service was great with the people being attentive and helpful. Clam chowder was good. Chopped salad was not very flavorful and drenched in dressing. The raw platter was excellent w 3 shrimp 3 clams 3 oysters and 3 lobster claws.

Stunning restaurant located right on the water! We stopped for lunch while walking around and they were very busy, there was a wait for tables so we sat at the bar and had lunch there. The views at this place are so pretty, a classic Newport place! Drinks were great and our bartender was very nice! We had espresso martinis and our bartender made them perfect! This spot will be on our radar next time we visit!

Can't even begin to say how truly fresh, tender, and flavorful the food is here and how delightful the service is as well. My friend and I shared our meals with each other. She got the beet salad but held the beets and had egg and cranberries and nuts added in then topped it with salmon. The whipped goat cheese was spectacular!! Lush, rich flavor. Honestly I detest salmon but it is so good for you!! So I tried it and it was Heavenly! Perfectly cooked, seasoned and not overly fishy. The codfish sandwich had excellent proportions of fish to lettuce to tomatoes and the spicy sauce was a great pop of deliciousness! The had a great selection of wines, beers and a few cocktails (but none that tempted either of us). She got a Cabernet and I got a Shiraz. Both were excellent. Dining in Newport can be pricey and often the food is meh.....so glad that the prices here weren't bad and you get so much quality and quantity wise here. Highly recommend the Mooring!

First and foremost, stunning view! I see why there are so many people wanting to be seated "outdoors" because you get to see the beautiful scenery of the waters while you eat! Luckily, we also got to enjoy the view (made reservations ahead of time) although it wasn't too difficult making one for a Sunday evening. Anyways, service was great - food came out very timely, all of our waiters/waitresses were friendly, and we were never rushed! The oysters were very tasty and their clam chowder was phenomenal. My partner enjoyed the shrimp ceviche, but I thought it was just okay. The main entrees are what disappointed us - fish and chips were fine, but the oil they used was so strong and fragrant, not very enjoyable. Their homemade tartar sauce was alright. The sole milanese was better, but lacking flavor. I liked the lemon butter sauce on the bottom, but the fish itself needs more seasoning. The potatoes were great though! All in all, I would come back for the service, the view, and apps. Maybe would order a fish sandwich instead (most ppl seemed to order those)!

Took a day trip to Rhode Island and had a wonderful lunch at The Mooring! Service wise our waiter was simply amazing! He made such good recommendations and was so attentive to us! He provided efficient and perfect service, so happy with how we were treated during our time there! Food wise everything was great! The white sangria was actually PERFECTION! So much flavor and such a good size! The lobster roll was both beautiful and delicious; just take a look at that photo it's literally picture perfect! Enjoyed everything we ate and would definitely come again! Lastly ambiance, this is definitely a family friendly spot! Very inviting feeling and spacious seating so you don't feel crowded at all! Overall such a nice time!

Food 2/5 Service 1/5 Ambiance 2/5 Overall: 1.5/5 First of all you are probably going to need a reservation; however, don't be too disappointed if your reservation does not give you a nice table by the water. If you are not paying for this meal with a social security check, you will not get a table with a view. Unfortunately the hostesses are super judgmental and they will reserve the good seats for people who visually fit their criteria as worthy. Even if there are a bunch of empty tables available, if you are not white and dressed well (aka good tipper in their eyes) you will be sat in the back away from the view. Unfortunately, this started my dinner with a bitter taste in my mouth. The bitter taste got worse as I ordered the scallop chowder. Talk about disgusting. Pretty sure the seafood was rotten as the chowder tasted sour and left an awful aftertaste. The crab toast helped this restaurant redeem themselves, but the glob of mayo on the bottom made the bread soggy and unappetizing. Come only if you want some mediocre overpriced food and if you would like to take a gamble on where you sit. Otherwise, choose another one of the million restaurants on the water where you will be treated with respect.

We visited the Mooring in November during the week to celebrate a birthday. Though it's a quieter time compared to the summer, the service and attention to detail was lovely. We sat by the fireplace and ordered the seafood pasta and whole fish of the day. The pasta was amazing, a tiny bit of spice and plenty of seafood to choose from including scallops and shrimp. The whole fish stole the show with amazing fingerling potatoes and broccolini. The fish itself was stuffed with herbs, lemon, and grilled to perfection. Eating it gracefully wasn't easy but it was worth the effort. The other show stopper that was a must for our visit was the biscuit. It's only one biscuit, but it might be the single largest biscuit ever. It came warm with fresh honey and it was an amazing way to open up our appetite. It was so good we actually forgot about our phones and didn't take a picture - you'll have to see it for yourself!

Great location. Some great seatings are just by the sea. We were seating in a room closed to the main hall. Lots of seatings in the restaurant and it was spacious. Ambiance is modern and comfortable. Our waitstaff was just ok, not too friendly. Food came out great. Fish and chips was delicious. Light Beer battered and the fish was flaky! Cole slaw was just ok. Fries were on point. Would love to come back to try some other dishes. Price is not too outrageous.

Was in Rhode Island. This place is a must stop if you are looking for nice meal. Everything was super fresh, well prepared and cooked perfectly. The view where we were seated wasn't have bad also!

Went here on St. Patty parade Saturday. While things were more crowded at other places, this place was pretty low key and great for families. We were seated immediately around 4pm. I heard for dinner reservations though next available was 9:15pm. I was told I had to try the bag of donuts now known as the lobster fritters. So yummy. We mainly went for drinks and appetizer. Painkiller drink was prob top 3 painkiller I have had. Espresso martini comes dark or light (with Baileys). I normally like the light better but their dark was better! Large menu options, large tables (saw lots of big groups and families).

We were seated outside beside the water, great seating and atmosphere! Weather was perfect. My husband and I started off with Rockefeller Oysters (6) which were Devine! I got the seafood pasta which was also great and my husband got the lobster roll (he wasn't that impressed but I think being from the south we over season everything lol) I got a sour beer and Tyler had 3 Michelob Ultras. May sure you bring out the check book bc we spent $128 prior to tip The service was spot on and very fast! Tayha was very sweet!

A meeting in Newport on the evening of our anniversary left us wondering where to go for a quick, weeknight celebration dinner. We hadn't visited The Mooring in almost a year after our last meal was just "meh" and left us disappointed. Wow- we are glad we decided to give them another shot! On a cool, pre-busy-season weeknight, the restaurant was fairly quiet with about a quarter of the tables filled. But, everyone around us seemed to be enjoying their meals and, especially, enjoying the service from a very pregnant Lauren... what a little fireball & fabulous server she is! The best service we've ever experienced at The Mooring for sure. We enjoyed a tasty Black Lager, made just for this restaurant by Harpoon Brewing. A new Roasted Halibut entree was a wonderful spring-y plate with peas, mint & mini potatoes. Lauren asked our honest opinion as the kitchen was looking for feedback. While wonderfully light & seasonal, we found the fish a tad dry & suggested it could use a light sauce. She brought us a vingarette served with swordfish & it added just the right touch. The hit of the evening, though, was the Seafood Pasta. Loaded with fresh shrimp & scallops, you could smell the deliciousness to come as soon as the plate arrived! Perfectly cooked pasta, a delectable garlicy sauce, and a tough of chili heat all came together perfectly. We will dream about this dish! All & all, a wonderful meal. We can't wait to return for more!

There is a paid parking lot in front of the restaurant if you don't want to waste your time driving around Newport looking for a spot like my wife and I did. My wife and I shared the lobster & shrimp fritters, baked stuffed lobster, and seafood pasta. Moments after we finished scraping the remaining maple chipotle aioli off the plate of our lobster & shrimp fritters with our tongues, my wife said "now I'm depressed we don't have anymore." I, too, was overcome by grief. The seafood pasta was just okay, the seafood was well done but the pasta lacked seasoning and flavor. The baked stuffed lobster exceeded my expectations. It kinda reminded me of oysters Rockefeller but more luxurious. I imagine the baked lobster sticks it's nose up at the pedestrian oysters Rockefeller walking below its ivory tower. Nothing remarkable about the service. It was acceptable. The vibe was unexpectedly casual. I was wearing hiking clothes and didn't feel out of place.

We arrived without a reservation and were promptly accommodated with a wonderful table on the patio, offering a beautiful view of the harbor. While the food was generally good, the oysters were disappointing due to their small size, and the crabcakes were average. However, the scallops were excellent, and the stuffed lobster was very good. The desserts were also good, especially the chocolate cake! The ladies room was a disaster area, with paper products all over the place, I did mention that to the hostesses and someone made a minimal effort to clean it up.

Excellent spot to get a taste of the New England hospitality. We dined here this weekend and loved every bit of our experience, from the beautiful patio views, to the delicious bites (still thinking about the buttermilk biscuit) everything here is just fantastic. We arrived around 12 pm and were seated immediately, the service was great, and everyone was warm, accommodating and attentive. We ordered a few appetizers, like their oysters, shrimp cocktail, and the biscuit and each ordered our mains -- I got the chicken shawarma pita... delish! The clam chowder was also great and the burger... well you can't go wrong with a burger. Oh! And their lobster roll which was just chefs kiss. Warm, buttery, fresh bun, so good! The ambiance is lovely -- think sail boats all around parked at the dock while enjoying drinks and chatter all around. Highly recommend if you check out New Port soon!

My last night in Newport after the folk festival and I wanted something special. I definitely found it at Moorings Seafood Kitchen. A lucky walk in, I found a seat at the bar. I told the bartender I sensed a good Bloody Mary was to be had and he affirmed I sensed right. Thru. A customize so I added bleu cheese stuffed olives, bacon and a whole lobster tail . Refreshing and tasty. Then I had the sweet onion dip w in house made kettle chips. That was fun. Main course was the seafood pasta. Pasta cooked to perfection. Closed it out w the crème brûlée and a port. Just an amazing final meal in town.

Came in for dinner with some girlfriends this week. The food was great! The drinks were tasty including the mocktails! Staff was friendly and the decor was typical Newport. One thing to watch out for, don't park in the lot! It's $9 an hour even off season so I paid almost $30 to park 2.5 hours. The mooring doesn't own it so it's not the restaurants fault but Such a rip off!

I was heading to Newport for the New Year and asked a friend from the area for restaurant recommendations and he recommended The Mooring. I quickly made a reservation. And when we showed up, I immediately recognized it as the same restaurant I had tried last time I was in Newport! Must be the place everyone goes... We started with the lobster and shrimp fritters (fka the bag of doughnuts) which were absolutely amazing. They were delicious and paired with the perfect sauce. I can't imagine coming here and not ordering them. After that, I had a cup of the scallop chowder. It was also even better than expected, with loads of whole scallops, corn, and potatoes in a New England-style cream-based chowder. My mother and I also shared the chop salad, and that was the only disappointment. The menu lists it as including chopped romaine lettuce, but the salad that arrived was perhaps 30% romaine (and hardly chopped) and 70% arugula. I, personally, hate arugula, and wouldn't have ordered the salad if I had known it would include it. I even went back to check the menu to make sure I hadn't misread (I hadn't). I debated sending it back, but my mom likes arugula, and I figured it would be covered up enough by the other things in the salad (the most delicious bacon and, interestingly, potatoes). Unfortunately the arugula taste wouldn't leave my mouth the rest of the night and essentially ruined dessert for me. For dessert, I ordered the cream puff trio, which I had expected to be small. I was wrong. It was HUGE. I had to pawn half a cream puff off on one of my dining companions, and ended up leaving another half a cream puff on the plate. All three flavors--chai, chocolate, and lemon--were delicious, and I would definitely recommend it. With the quality of the food, ambiance, and service, I would definitely recommend this--despite the rouge arugula.

Great little spot to grab food and drinks. We opted to sit at the bar for small bites and drinks. I had an aperol spritz with some oysters and a cold lobster roll. Service was good and food was great! Will definitely visit again the next time I'm in Newport! Great views.

Came for drinks and apps. Beautiful large restaurant. I got the kiwi margarita. So refreshing and a nice twist on a margarita. It was $17 so i hope it would be. Got mussels, fried calamari, and my coworker got the crab salad on sourdough. I had some of the hot lobster roll with fries. Classic taste. Lobster was not rubbery. Got portion for the price. Everything tasted fresh and was diverse in flavor. Nothing was bland. Would come back to try more

Been here three times this month - once with my daughter after a shopping trip (cocktails and apps- lobster fritters and crab cakes); once on hubs b- day (clam chowder) and yesterday with family after a great Christmas concert (salmon, sole Milanese, scallop chowder, great wine). The Mooring never disappoints!

Back again at The Mooring. Remember that they do not validate for their parking lot! It's expensive to park! Find public parking and walk over!! Great food and atmosphere. Their raw bar is unmatched. I want to mention that I wish they had Tabasco as i enjoy it with my oysters but they did have a semi hot sauce. But they had 3 different kinds of oysters, lobster claws, and more. We went twice in two days. Once for a quick bite and once for dinner. Some of What we ate: Clam chowder 5/5 Lobster Raw Bar 5/5 Oysters 5/5 (no Tabasco) Seafood Pasta 5/5 Calamari 5/5!!! Incredible Great service. Our waiter was lovely and attentive. We normally visit Newport once a year. See you in 2024!

Came here for the view and lunch. The restaurant was packed by like 12pm so i definitely recommend a reservation. The service was good. Friendly staff. We order a couple of dishes to share. The scallop was my favorite. Buttery and soft. It practically melted in your mouth. The shrimp ceviche was too tart. Like too much lime/lemon flavor. It was really overwhelming. The scallop chowder was okay. We've never had it before. Came with giant chunks of scallops inside. I wasn't crazy about the lobster shrimp fritters. It was all dough and i did not taste any of the seafood inside. Lastly the lobster roll was good. The bun was nice and thick and there was tons of chunks of lobster in it. Overall it was a great experience and we had a good time.

Had a day to explore Newport. Found this place situated in the harbor. Was pretty busy for lunch time. Service was great and friendly. Restaurant was clean that views were of the marina. Food was good. We ordered oysters, calamari, lobster roll, fish and chips, friend seas scallops sandwich. Ohhh and the clam chowder. Which I have to say was the best I ever had! That's saying something since I live on the west coast.

We stopped here on our last night in Newport in celebration of our first wedding anniversary. The hostess was able to seat us out on the enclosed outside which was wonderful. I was grateful they take online reservations given we were not sure what would be open on Memorial Day. We decided to order from the seafood for two section of the menu! The platter was abundant and flavorful! Our server Dan was attentive and helpful. The cocktail options were slamming and we finished out the experience with the delightful raspberry cheesecake and an espresso. Would recommend for anyone looking for good ambiance and good seafood while in Newport! Bravo!

My family and I ate at The Mooring our first night in Newport. The atmosphere is excellent with a view of the bay and the staff is very welcoming. We ordered several appetizers, but the one that stole the show was the biscuit. I highly recommend this! Between 5 people, that biscuit did not stand a chance! I also enjoyed the lobster and crab fritters. For my main entree, I ordered the Sole Milanese. This was delicious! Thanks for making our first meal in Newport a memorable one.

We visited The Mooring last night for both my boyfriend's birthday and my birthday (they're a week apart) and the staff handed us a signed birthday card when we sat down since we selected "birthday" for special occasion when I made my reservation on OpenTable. So sweet! We loved that personal touch and they sat us in the "best seat in the house" outside on the patio overlooking the marina. The food was amazing, a true 5/5 stars. Definitely recommend just off of food alone. The service did slow down a bit because it was packed, but we will still give the entire experience a 4/5 stars just because those personal touches and comping our cheesecake at the end of the evening (and not singing at my request) was so great.

the mooring is the place i bring my family, friends, guests, etc when i show them newport rhode island. the service is always above and beyond. love the deck seating no matter what season it is. and the seafood is the freshest, tastiest i've found on the coast. i will continue to come here when visiting newport and this will be my first recommendation when ppl ask!!

First of all we called to let the restaurant know we were going to be 45 minutes late. They were very nice about it , came to the restaurant and there was a line but our table ready. We sat in a booth where we could see the sunset. We had a wonderful waitress named Emily, she was on it every step, even when my bf's soup didn't taste quite right. Emily brought out a fresh bowl and it was delicious. We got 2 pound lobster (pan seared lobster) with jasmine rice and bok choy. F___kin amazing! The best Ive had in this asian flare. So damn good. They brought out a piece cake too on the house. I cannot say enough about this place. Thanks to my bf for taking me. It was so special and amazing!

We decided to come here because of the abundance of great reviews ! We got a reservation for 4 pm on a Friday, I'm glad we had the ease of mind that we would be seated as we had booked a sunset cruise and wanted to make sure we would be seated and served with time to spare, although a reservation for two did not seem needed for this time as walk ins were also being seated almost immediately. We were seated on the outside deck which was gorgeous. This place is definitely on the fancier side as the server offered us sparkling, spring, or filtered water as a starter beverage. I also ordered a painkiller per the server's suggestion. The painkiller was very good but there was so much ice in it that it only lasted a few big sips. We opted to order just entrees as we were on a time crunch. We got the grilled salmon and the beet & citrus salad with salmon. The grilled salmon dish was delicious- the depth of flavor was incredible !!! The salad was also delightful. Both dishes had perfectly cooked salmon that was so tender and big in portion. The food was incredible , hence the clean plates. The only reason I give this a 4 rather than a 5 is because the service did not meet the quality of the food. Both myself and my guest felt that our server gave our table less attention and sped through our service compared to their interactions with neighboring tables. We did not disclose that we had somewhere to be after dinner so this was not a situation where the server was being speedy to help us. We felt that because we were only ordering a single drink and 2 entrees our server was less inclined to check in with us or have that extra spark of hospitality that the other tables were provided. Of course I understand that tables with bigger orders require more attention but this just felt like we were being slightly snubbed because we had a smaller price tag for our meal... Overall we did enjoy our meal and would recommend to others who are traveling through the area!

Believe the hypeee... absolutely delicious food and great service. The scallop risotto was one of the best things I had in Rhode Island. My Husband added on a lobster tail to his meal and boy was that overcooked.. we casually mentioned it in passing and the staff took it off the bill which was such a nice gesture. The oysters and clams were fresh and we truly couldn't have asked for a better meal. The ambience was costal casual and had a nice cabin atmosphere. Would definitely recommend dining here and would highly recommend getting reservations.

Would overall give 3.5/5. My fiancé and I picked the Mooring for our anniversary dinner. Our waitress brought us each a glass of Prosecco which was so nice of them! We came during sunset and were seated in the covered area next to the boats, and the views were amazing. We ordered calamari to start which was delicious, especially the fried banana peppers. I ordered the chicken and my fiancé ordered the seafood pasta. Both meals were okay, nothing amazing about them. I was expecting a little more based on the ambiance of the restaurant but the pasta was too buttery and lacked spice even though it had Calabrian chillies.

We were looking for lunch on the water on a day bobbing around Newport. I naturally went to the Black Pearl, as a classic lunch on the water place. There was a short wait, then the charge you a premium to sit outside. (Literally, $10 chowder is $16 outside.) we decided to move on, and we're glad we did. We had a great lunch experience at The Mooring We're glad we did. We sat on the enclosed, airy back deck with the boats docked just outside. The food and service were outstanding.

My wife has this spot in her itinerary list of places to eat. We are a party of 3, came in for lunch. Menu is extensive but with a strong focus on seafood. My wife ordered the fish sandwich, which came with roasted potatoes, plus a side of roasted broccollini. My mom ordered the seafood pasta, and I ordered the fish and chip. Everything was absolutely fresh, but what surprised me the most... was the broccolini. It's crunchy, perfectly seasoned & roasted, hands down the best roasted broccolini we've ever tasted. My haddock was perfect... lightly battered, came with a small cup of homemade coleslaw and tartar sauce. Mom's seafood pasta was standard, the star of the show would be the big scallops and prawn pieces... which were cooked perfectly and not overcooked.
