I went in hoping to get my bike fixed but instead got the worst service ever and my bike wasn’t fixed. They failed to repair it and wouldn’t even let me come in to retrieve it. They were beyond rude and complete nut cases about masks. I wasn’t allowed to come in and get my bike so I had to get someone to do it for me. No fixed bike and worst customer service ever! Never visit this establishment. Stay far far away.

The best part about this place is that I don't know what's wrong with my car going in but I know it's gonna be fixed coming out. I'd let these mechanics give me a triple bypass surgery simply because they said they could. Reliable, great guys and honestly you're not gonna beat their price.

Fantastic ebike rental. Smooth and easy pickup, bikes were great, and the team made things super easy. Will rent here again next time I’m here.

Terrible customer service. My partner and I made a reservation to reserve an e bike. The e bike was very uncomfortable and could not be adjusted unless we returned to the shop. We did so and asked if they had another type of bike that we could rent because this one was uncomfortable. No accommodations were even attempted. They happily took our $100 after we only rented the bike for 30 minutes due to the poor quality of the bike. Not to mention that they would not rent us an extra helmet and also insulted our own e bike. Hard to say if we received poor treatment due to race or gender discrimination as a queer, POC couple as I see most of the positive reviews are from white men. We have emailed management and have yet to receive a refund or response. Update: I received the attached email from the owner Tim after posting this review. While I appreciate the refund, as you can see from his tone, this shop is not interested in taking accountability for the poor customer service we received. I did call Tim and speak to him but again, zero accountability.

If you are looking for a non e-bike for riding the valley trail: go to Bicycles of Ojai. 25% cheaper, much more availability, and friendly and helpful service. We had reserved e-bikes at Mob Shop (since the right non-e-bikes were not available) and staff was not very interested in answering questions and certainly not in being helpful. We ended up canceling and paying the penalty (half), and were happy we did so.

If you are going to be in Ojai and looking for a great bike shop and tour guide, look no further! Kelly took me on a 30 mile ride through some of the most beautiful terrain I've ever seen! The bike i rented was awesome! Go check them out!

Absolute gem of a shop in Ojai! Kellen is hands down one of the top techs in Ventura County. Tim, Kelley, and Chris have created a haven for cyclists, deeply rooted in the community. Their support for organizations like Dirt Minions and the empowerment Workshop is paving the way for the next generation. Do yourself a favor and go to the "other" bike shop in Ojai... All of the staff here are friendly and promise the world to you, but their execution leaves a lot to be desired... They charged $275 to pack my bike in an old beat-up box for shipment, and when I asked about the structural integrity of the box I was given a snarky response! Fast forward a few days, and my bike arrives at the repair facility completely trashed from shipping damages... And now the insurance nightmare begins... Thanks Mob Shop...

Chris was less than helpful. Shared his opinions and kept trying to push me towards what he likes. Didn't offer anything beyond me renting some bikes to see if I like what he has. He didn't offer to even let me straddle a bike for sizing or go over any options. Sorry, I cannot recommend this business as it seemed like he just wanted me to leave. I did shower this week and do not understand why Chris didn't want my business.

If you know what you want and you don't care who you buy it from, this shop has some nice bikes in stock. I for one won't spend a penny here at this point. I went in to buy a bike that they had in stock, but would need a few components swapped out. I encountered Chris Van Zyl and this interaction began as a little perplexing but ended up infuriating. He was arrogant and dismissive while still managing to be underinformed about some things. My experience over 4 decades as a cycling fanatic have resulted in me knowing something about what I need in a bike. He didn't care to listen, only to preach (inaccurate things), and when I continued to participate in the conversation rather than just receiving his sermon, he became frustrated and even more rude. I left, and went to the less flashy but far friendlier Bicycles of Ojai, a few streets over....although they didn't have what I was looking for in the store and had to order what I wanted, I had no misgivings about the added wait. The same day as I had visited The MOB Shop, a friend of mine asked me for help finding her a bike, and mentioned that she'd gone into the MOB Shop but was talked down to so severly that she felt bad about the experience for days afterwards. These folks are pretentious d-bags. Go to Bicycles of Ojai and take care of the shop that will take better care of you.

Just charged my son $42 to change a tube out on his bike, just because he walked in with a flat. Way to be cool to the local kids. Unfortunately, the other bike shop was closed or he never would have gone in.

I brought a bike in for repair. After one minor repair was completed the gentlemen identified several other repairs were needed and in doing so they were quite condescending and disparaging, even insinuating that I was foolish for buying the used bike in need of repairs. Rude and uncalled for, not a great way to garner business. I would certainly not go back.

Update: I received the attached response from the owner, Tim. As you can see, the apple does not fall far from the tree. While I appreciate the refund, the intent behind this review was for some accountability. I did call Tim and he did apologize that we were dissatisfied. However he did not take accountability for his employees' behavior. Instead he placed blame on me for posting this review. I explained that as a dissatisfied customer, he should have approached us to remedy the situation or his employee should have offered that as an option. As you can see from his own words, customer service is not their priority. A wise business owner would have taken some accountability and perhaps this review could've been salvaged. Unfortunately, it still stands.

Not a local. I called these guys in the evening needing an urgent fix. They told me to come by first thing in the morning I was riding through Ojai down to the south bay and hadn't been able to shift my mechanical front derailuer in 30 miles of climbing. Not matter what I tried I couldn't get it to shift. Turns out a tension grub screw had fallen out of the mech. Except they didn't have any. So the mechanic ransacks every screw in the shop till he finds one from a pedal. Tuned her up and got me back on the road in under an hour. I should mention my local mechanic does work on a lot of world pro's. This guy has mine shifting better than it ever has. Shout out to Tim, the mechanic and the other guys for their local knowledge. And I won't hold anything against the Saffa.

I reserved a bike from The MOB Shop ahead of my visit to Ojai in order to do the Ojai - Ventura bike trail. The website was very descriptive and easy-to-use. Staff were all professional and really nice. Would definitely recommend to those in town who need more than a cruiser!

So glad i found these guys! I've been out of the game for over a decade and only ever rode my trusty schwinn mountain bike i got for a hundred bucks at kmart back in high school. So needless to say, it has been awhile and the game has definitely changed, and things are expensive and complicated nowadays. A came in with all of my hesitations and concerns and right away the team here put me at ease, asked some very simple questions and started figuring out what my needs were and how they could meet them. They didn't just sell me a bike, they figured out my riding style, put me on a few different bikes and took proper measurements to ensure i got a bike that was a good fit for me. Turns out i have been riding on a bike almost 3 sizes smaller than i should have been, which really made a huge difference for my back issues. A lot of things i never considered were pointed out and i felt like i was making a much better and more educated decision every step of the way. They got me in front of the computer and we talked budget and did some shopping and, With a bit of luck, they even had the model that fit me best AND in my favorite color. It was meant to be! I've been back a few times for some odds and ends and accessories and every single time it's a positive and learning experience. These guys know their stuff, and as a small local business, i am very happy to be able to support them!

I I had a flat in my tubeless front tire and limped into Ojai from the top of the Denison Grade. I went to the MOB Shop. Chris introduced himself and was incredible with his repair. I was ready to buy a new front tire but Chris explained that it was worth replenishing the sealant. He also explained some issues with my over-inflation tendencies. He spent lots of time on the issue and I left with a repaired tire and only a charge for a flat repair Chris could not have been more effective and gracious. Five star service. The MOB Shop rocks!!

There is no sign out front or in back .if you .mention that you could not find the store .because of that .good luck! If you want to be lectured to the point of no return. And brow beaten into submission then this is the place for you

Last year I started riding my bike as my sole means of transportation, which means I've had a couple of things I've needed to fix up. The team at the Mob Shop has taken care of me beyond reproach. My first time in I needed to fix a flat - no problem. The second time I ended up needing to do quite a bit more - new tires, tubes, grips, adjustments, you name it - and they gave me back my bike better than before. I had a kerfuffle with a car not too long ago, and the first thing I did (after dusting myself off) was to stop in at the Mob shop to straighten out my front tire. I'm not a cycle-savy person, but they always make an effort of showing and explaining what needs to be done and why, which I really appreciate. They never make me feel uneducated or lacking and I never worry about asking dumb questions. I would highly recommend taking advantage of their service and expertise.

If there is a way to give 5+ stars, I would do that. I was leading a ride of 12 on a 100 mile yesterday. We finish lunch and are 50 miles in and bam, one of our riders has a major failure. The derailleur hanger breaks and the SRAM Red Derailleur is flung into the wheel. Well now one derailleur has become several pieces. We roll into the MOB shop which about 1/2 mile from the incident. While they do not have the Derailleur in stock, the call a couple shops and source a used one from a shop nearby. Our rider goes over and buys the derailleur and brings it back to the MOB shop. After a little time, the bike is back up and running just like new. I cannot thank the shop enough for being so flexible and giving us several options before find the correct SRAM RED derailleur and getting our friend Earl back on the road. Most shops would just say sorry, we don't have one and be done. They went out of their way to help us is a terribly tough situation. Many Thanks from all of us in the Ladies & Gents Cycling Group.

I purchased an e-bike and a couple of helmets from the mob shop. The staff is accommodating and kind. This shop is an excellent addition to the Ojai community and worth driving to, even if you live outside town. I've never had a bad experience here.

Elitist, overpriced, and rude. As a female athlete who tries to promote inclusivity and diversity for ALL people in the sport of cycling, I DO NOT recommend the Mob Shop. Go to Bicycles of Ojai.

I rarely write reviews, but Tim was so incredibly helpful and informative on my first Mountain Bike that I had to! I'm very excited to start riding and I know I have the exact gear for my needs thanks to Tim and The Mob Shop. I know I'm in good hands with the crew there for future upgrades and any repairs! I highly recommend renting, fixing, or purchasing a bike from here!

I stumbled across this shop about a month ago while visiting Ojai and doing some window shopping with a friend. I popped in to check it out. After expressing my concerns about the stability of my newer road bike, Tim and Chris who know my Roubaix well, let me know that it could accommodate a slightly wider tire which would offer a little more stability. Other shops don't seem to have this knowledge. I made an appointment and brought my bike in to have the tires swapped-out yesterday, along with some other minor adjustments. Although very busy, Chris took such good care of me. When I returned for my bike, he made sure I understood a few things about my bike since I'm fairly new to road bikes. Although I don't live in the area, I ride the Ojai bike path often and will be sure to refer my friends to this great shop!

Customer service was poor to say the least. I got a flat and they said they had to charge me double their regular rate because I walked in!! They said it would take 30 minutes and they would call me when it was done. After nearly an hour I went and picked it up; they didn't bother to call.

They were fantastic! Bikes were great and they gave us directions to Ojai Valley Trail, which I highly recommend

Customer is outstanding! We stayed at a hotel that had bikes for us to use but they were too big for my daughter. The Mod Shop is the only one that have childrens bike to rent (I think). There was one problem tho; I wasn't able to return the bike the next day because it was closed and I was leaving town. Dominic offer me to drop the bike off at his house and he'll take it back to the shop. What?! On his day off? So cool. My daughter was able to enjoy the trail in comfort and ended up having the best bike of the bunch. Thanks again!! We will be back.

Guy answering the phone just now at Bicycles of Ojai could not have been more rude. Asked if I could store my bike for a couple of hours in back and he responded I could lock my bike in front with all of their other high end bikes. Thanked him and then called THE MOB SHOP 805-272-8102. Tim answered and said 'absolutely, we'll hold it in the back for you.' Completely different customer service. Done with Bicycles of Ojai. The Mob Shop has won a new customer!

I was happy and excited to visit this Bike Shop when I came across it while bicycling in Ojai today.‍‍ Unfortunately, I was treated rudely and my bike was treated poorly as well. I will never return again! ‍ While later riding around Ojai, I found another bike shop I will visit in the future

Great bike rental shop! The rental process was very quick and smooth, the staff was helpful, and we loved the look of the store. My go-to rental business when I'm in Ojai.

Great bike store. Visiting Ojai, so we love stop at the local bike stores when we get a chance. Bought some gloves,water bottles and a few others things. We had such a great experience chatting with the owners. We love supporting small local businesses whenever we get a chance. We will be back whenever we are in the area again.

The BEST customer service I have ever received! My girlfriends and I were staying at Ojai Valley Inn and rented some bikes from our hotel to ride into town. Unfortunately on the way back my bike had broken down, but miraculously The MOB Shop was just a block away. When I had gone in there and explained what happened, the owner went above and beyond to help me. Everyone there was sooo friendly!! Not only did they all welcome us and fix my bike, they made us laugh and feel at ease during what was a stressful situation. It was the kind of hospitality you would only see out of a movie. Even though we didn't provide them any business, they still greeted us like family and helped us when they easily could have refused because it wasn't their bike. My girlfriends and I are so grateful for the kindness and service they provided us. We're looking forward to seeing them again next time we're in town!

We rented 2 town bicycles yesterday (Memorial Day). The shop is spacious, bright, modern, and boasts a great selection of well-maintained, clean bicycles for rent as well as a wide variety of bicycles (mountain/road/hybrid/town/electric) and gears for sale. The rental cost for a town bicycle is $12/hour for up to 2 hours and all day for $29. I called in the morning to check for availability and spoke with Sean, who later courteously handled our rental process at the shop. He was so nice and helpful -- provided a map and showed us points of interest -- that we forgave him for mistakenly telling us that the shop closes at 4pm (we returned the bikes the same day) when in fact it closes at 5pm. We wouldn't have been able to ride for another hour anyway, so it's all good. The bikes rode smoothly and they were probably the best rental bicycles we've ridden. Locks, helmets, and bags are included in the rental fee. The shop also offers complimentary filtered water at the shop to fill your water bottle. We parked our car at the shop parking lot and rode the bikes to the Ojai Valley bike trail about a block and a half south (see attached map pic). The location can't be beat if you want to start your trip in Ojai and head to Ventura down the bike trail (Note: Ojai to Ventura direction is mostly gradual downhill. Ventura to Ojai is uphill). We'll definitely consider a bike tour with them the next time we are in Ojai.

Great experience - incredibly helpful and knowledgeable staff and owner! I first reached out to MOB Shop on Yelp for a quote / availability on bike rentals for a Sunday. The owner, Tim, quickly responded that although he would love to rent me some bikes he was not currently able to due to COVID restrictions by the local government. He told me to stop by the shop if I still came to Ojai...I did! I stopped in to say "hello" and Tim greeted us warmly, showed us around the shop and gave us some useful tips for getting around town. I highly recommend this shop for any biking needs. Beautiful layout, nice selection of bikes, gear, apparel, and really genuine customer service. Thanks Tim & MOB Shop! Be back again soon!

We visited the MOB shop to rent bikes for our weekend trip in Ojai. It was a last minute task on our to-do list. We had no problems getting rentals on the spot, their prices are very reasonable, and the staff are incredibly knowledgeable and nice. They were kind enough to allow us to drop the bikes off at closing and come back the next day to resume our 24-hour rental. They gave us recommendations for bike trails and other cool places to visit. Chris and Tim were so helpful and made our experience in Ojai that much more enjoyable. Thank you MOB shop for your kindness and expertise. We will be returning!

The Mob Shop has a very friendly staff who provided us with quick and convenient service. The bike shop is on the main strip in Ojai so could have walked there. I believe the owner is Tim who helped us with directions of places to bike in the neighborhood. There are also many trials that start within two to three miles from the shop, including the uber popular Ojai to Ventura bike path. One word of caution that should in no way shape or form be attributed to this shop....ladies who ride infrequently and want to go off road or more than a few miles should pay close attention to the seat. The bumps can make things a little tender.

I couldn't believe how professional and high tech this shop was when I desperately needed help for a flat. stranded 12 miles from my car! I was so shook up and had my husband who has Alzheimer's with me on a bike ride. Chris was so kind and made a space in his busy schedule to fix the flat. an electric bike and it was the back tire. we're seniors and he just went out of his way to help, made me cry how kind he was. he made sure the tires were safe for our ride back down to Ventura. I'm so grateful,I'll be bringing the bikes back for servicing soon. excellent , I give them 10 stars

This was my first time in the shop. I had them assemble an E-bike for me. They did a great job all around. You can tell they take customer service seriously. Every single employee was courteous and friendly. They had it done in a day, reasonably priced, and really seemed to care about their customers. I will definitely be using them again in the future for all my bike needs.

The MOB Shop is awesome! When visiting Ojai, I knew I wanted to ride bike around town and I picked The MOB Shop to rent bikes after some research. I called beforehand to make sure I don't need reservation but for two people, they said walk-in was fine even on a 3-day weekend. I loved how friendly everyone is here! It seemed like all the guys were aware of what was going on and gave us tips, especially since I was that weird girl who was about to ride a bike wearing a maxi dress. They adjusted the bikes to our height, gave my husband attachable pouch (saying that baskets are overrated) to hold everything and even provided bike locks which was easy to use. The shop, as well as all the bikes were in great condition and very sturdy which is a major plus. I would return to The MOB Shop for sure on my next visit.

Called ahead of time to stop buy and purchased the bike. The person on the phone was rude and flat out told me not to bother coming because since I don't know what bike exactly I am looking for he doesn't want to spend time fitting a bike. Refused service for no good reason!

The MOB Shop's customer service is above and beyond excellent!! They have insured all of our needs have been met, including bike rentals, bike tune-up and purchasing electric bikes. Every time we enter the shop they greet us like old friends and treat us with care and kindness. Chris, Tim and Kelly are great guys! Their recommendations of interesting bike routes, gear and service had been flawless. Their enthusiasm for good customer service is the same for a young kid that needs a flat tire repaired and/or the sale of a top of the line electric bike. It is very impressive! We bought two Specialized Como electric bikes from the shop and are having a great time with them! Thanks MOB Shop for hooking us up with an amazing set up!!! You guys are awesome!!!

They don't rent out bikes these days!!!!! Covid and all. Absolutely ridiculous since we rented bikes down at Oxnard and in Santa Monica not too long ago. What kind of logicless rule it is, I don't know, but it sucked. F course, I should have known better and called in advanced. Ugh. That bike lane looked really good!!! I wish they had a service where you could rent bikes in Ojai and return in Ventura.

Beautiful rustic Ojai! I came to appreciate more of this town when we took the East and Valley tour. I'm glad that we did it. Date of visit was June 27,2015-Saturday at 12 noon,and the weather was on the high 80's which was just perfect. The reservation was made 2 days prior and Kelly helped us. When we arrived there,staff immediately attended to us and we didn't have to choose the bikes to use because they knew better. If I remember it right,they had the Hybrid bikes for us. Caitlin was our tour guide and she made the 10-mile bike tour as easy as possible although she was a professional mountain biker and from this town. Caitlin led us to the valley where there was a lot of ranches,orange and avocado farms. I learned so much about the Topa Topa Mountains and Chumash Indians who were the first residents of Ojai. Ojai is bordered by mountains as we have noticed. And food chains are strictly banned from this village. That's even cooler! I think that makes this town differ from others. It's their conservative way of preserving the town from overdevelopment. It also made sense why this small town has a lot of retreat homes because of its peacefulness. While bike touring,it felt like I was on meditation. It's that comfortable. Overall,it's unforgettable and we had so much fun especially with the hilly roads. It was a 3-people tour btw. Caitlin offered water and breaks when I needed it. And she gave us pixie tangerines at the end of the tour. Sweet!

The MOB shop was OUTSTANDING! Tim, co-owner of the MOB provided electric bikes and route recommendations for 8 adults and 2 toddlers. He was super helpful in the planning process so that everything was organized when we got there. He was very helpful with his instructions on how to optimally ride the e- bikes and the best routes to take for our group of all skill levels. So so friendly. And the bikes were great too! Thanks Tim and MOB shop for a great day!

Very helpful and enthusiastic staff. Gave us lots of advice on where to ride and fitted out my kids with a couple of great bikes. Recommended.

We had a really fun mountain biking tour with Kelly. Really nice bikes and gear and Kelly was friendly and super cool. This was the first mountain biking experience for our 9 year old and he had a blast! The bike shop is located in town and they have a huge selection of bikes. We met some other staff and they were all super friendly. Highly recommend!

We emailed ahead to setup good appointment time & service was great. No high pressure sales pitch & no talking down to you because you are not bike expert. Also really appreciated COVID precautions being taken & enforced while there.

I can't say enough great things about this bike shop! Location was perfect and the staff are very friendly and helpful in pointing out different places to ride. We rented ebikes for the day to take the Ojai Valley trail down to Ventura and back. Great trail and the bikes worked perfectly! The gentleman helped us out with helmets, a lock, and a bag to help secure our stuff throughout the day. After the long ride we dropped the bikes off to charge and the gentleman even offered to let us use the bikes again the morning. We will be back to try out the mountain bikes next time. Thank you for everything :)

Great shop, great service and Tim was the best great location for many rides on and off the beaten path or trail

These guys are the best! They sell and rent great bikes...specifically, electric bikes, which are wonderful. You don't HAVE to use the electricity, they're just like normal bikes but they have a little battery you can turn on to help you get up a hill or, in my case, help pull your fat dog who's riding in a cart behind you (that they provided). My wife and I had a blast riding our bikes, with our dog, all over town. Whenever we got tired, we just turned on the power and glided right along. Can't recommend them enough. The guys at Project-Ride gave us tons of advice about where to bike (and where to eat) in Ojai. Two big thumbs up. And you can rent normal bikes as well, if that's your thing. Side note: Having visited Ojai from Los Angeles a bunch of times over the past few years...it took us a while to discover Meiner's Oaks. It's worth the short trip from "downtown" Ojai. Some great, great restaurants like Papa Lennon's and Farmer & the Cook.
