Leeds Library is such a delightful piece of history that has lived and travelled through time to still be an amazing resource in the present. The place is buzzing with life, activity (exhibitions, workshops, arts & crafts, etc.), and so many great books to read.

Amazing: step through a normal doorway on a busy Leeds side street and you'll enter a secret world you'll think came straight from a Harry Potter film set. But no this is real, and you can wander the stacks and meander the through room after room of historic and modern books, drinking in the atmosphere, convinced that at any moment you'll discover a a shelf that slides back to reveal another adventure...

The Leeds Library is a wonderful place to rest, relax and immerse yourself in the impressive collection of books on offer. A heads-up..this is a private library you have to pay to join but you can arrange a free tour and there are regular events there throughout the year. Friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere make it a gem in the heart of Leeds.

Beautiful subscription library in the centre of Leeds. Non-members are able to look around on Monday afternoons between 1pm and 3pm and tours are run at part of the yearly heritage open days. Grade II listed building which can also be booked for civil weddings.

I love going here It's nice and quiet but things are changing. As a subscription library they are letting people come in all they have to do is sign visitors book .they do not have full access to all floors and cannot take out any books on loan. But as a paid member l do not like this so might cancel my subscription and use it like any one else.

They have books (well if course they do), they have cheap beverages and they have a small but obviously dedicated staff team who are, so far, unfailingly pleasant and patient and have knowledge almost literally seeping from their very pores. Impressed? Well yes, I am. I love books and anyone or any place that so obviously cared for them will always have my respect and support. The Leeds Library is a subscription library ( the oldest in the Uk) and I have a very strong feeling that it will be here long after most other libraries have crumbled under political disinterest.
