The Granary Lodge

We booked this as a bit f a treat whilst we were visiting Castle Mey. The team were so welcoming and helpful they were exceptional. Angela served us a wonderful breakfast my porridge was creamy, warm and delicious. My husband had the ham platter which was filling and fresh. The array of breakfast treats was amazing we were spoilt for choice.|Our room was lovely, the bed comfortable and warm. We would definitely stay here again, treat yourself and book a room.

This is the nicest B+B we have ever stayed in. Our room was beautifully furnished. The bed was enormous and extremely comfortable. The heating was appropriate....it is the northernmost tip of the mainland and the shower powerful. We had a warm reception on arrival and our pre-ordered fish plates delivered in a moment. The dining room and the views from it are extensive. The staff were engaging, and provided local knowledge and insights. All of them were professional, and lovely. The residents lounge is quiet, comfortable and relaxing. In short we loved it and everything about it and plan to return!

I didn’t tell my wife I had booked the Granary so it was a great surprise for her. It’s quite exciting and different to experience a place where you know so many Royals must have been. It was beyond my expectations. Of course the location is 10/10. The accommodation is exquisitely decorated and furnished, beautiful bathroom and sumptuous bed, bliss……….but what really completes the package is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. |Although cooked breakfast is not available the porridge and cold platters are very good indeed…….and of course it is served in a beautifully decorated dining room. |Would love to stay again but it’s quite a journey from Tunbridge Wells.

Having been the highest bidder in a charity auction by the King's Foundation, we found ourselves enjoying a 2 night stay in a luxury suite (Room 9) at the Granary Lodge. ||Everything about our stay was superb and we were well looked after by the attentive staff managing the lodge: Evelyn, Jean & Tracy. Our suite along with the resident's lounge and breakfast room were sumptuously decorated and was oh so comfortable. ||Dining wise, we had a heart breakfast as well as partaking in the afternoon cream tea evening supper platters which were all excellent.||A highlight of our trip was a private guided tour of the wonderful Castle of Mey. Our guide Hazel Farquhar, had an encyclopedic wealth of knowledge about the history of the castle. It was such a privilege to hear all about the castle and how special it was as the private holiday home of the late Queen Mother.||Away from the estate we had enjoyed arriving via the stunning NC500 route and visited the nearby surroundings. Our visit to the Granary Lodge, part of a longer tour of the highlands & Islands was all too short. Already we are looking into making a return visit next year for a longer duration. ||The Granary Lodge and the wonderful team there will be the abiding memory of our trip.

Dear Evelyn and the rest of the team,|We had an absolutely fantastic stay at the Granary Lodge in September; I only wish it could have been for longer!!|After cycling 1,000 miles from Land's End to John O'Groats the Granary Lodge was the perfect place to celebrate completing our journey.|The accommodation is equivalent to the best 5* country house hotels, the bedrooms are incredibly comfortable, and the sitting room is a great place to relax.|We were fortunate enough to have dinner in the Castle, a truly memorable experience, the food, drinks, and entertainment were amazing.|All of the team who looked after us were really friendly, helpful, and attentive.|Very little room for improvement, if you are visiting the North Highlands, I would not hesitate to recommend the Granary Lodge.

More than exceeded expectations - peaceful atmospheric & luxurious. Very well appointed throughout. Lovely attentive staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. Breakfasts are a delight - as are the optional evening platters. Electric car charging available.

What a wonderful 24 hours at Castle of Mey. On arrival I had ordered a platter which was delicious and enough for two, having had a big lunch. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable and luxurious. I had the room for the dog owners, see the view I had. I think the interiors may have been by the Queen's sister, they certainly resembled the rooms at Dumfries, but the drawing room had a touch of the late Robert Kime. Breakfast was also impeccable, the best porridge with honey and pecans, and eggs and salmon. This really is an essential part of a visit to the Castle of Mey, a truly royal experience!

My wife and I had a wonderful stay for 2 nights in a luxury suite (Rome 10) whilst touring Northern Scotland. |Everything about The Granary was excellent, and particularly the friendly and helpful staff.|They made our stay even more enjoyable by making us feel so welcome.|Many thanks to all involved.|We would certainly recommend The Granary to all our friends and acquaintances who are considering a trip to the North.
