The George at Great Oxendon

Stopped off on the way home cross country. It was serendipity! What a lovely place for lunch and the best food we've tasted in years. Wonderful staff and excellent service too.

This place never disappoints on every level. The food, staff and rooms are always first class. Our daughter had her wedding here last year and everything was perfect thanks to Steve and his staff

My partner took me out for dinner as it was for a very special occasion. I had finished all my cancer treatment and rang the bell. But what was supposed to be a lovely evening celebrating was an absolute disaster. The food was awful I asked for my steak to be really well done but it came out medium to well done, my partner asked for medium and his came out and it was as tough as old boots he couldn't even cut it. The rump steak wasn't as big as a burger, the peppercorn sauce was watery and tasted like Worcester sauce. We had to ask for water where other customers were given it. We got up and left full plates and noone asked us if everything was OK. Extortionate prices but poor quality food.

Popped in for lunch. Very helpful and professional staff. Food is of the top notch quality. It is advisable to book for evening and weekend meals. It is a must visit to dine out

Looking forward to my Sunday lunch at the Geoege all week but was underwhelmed. Only two meat choices, beef and pork with crackerling . Decided on the pork which did not come with Yorkshire pudding but waitress said could be added without telling me it would be charged as extra. Food was not very hot and gravy which was quite sweet was already poured over the meal, would have preferred it on the side. Also, there wasn't any crackling. My dining companion found 3 inch beef joint string in her meal and small piece of silver paper in her pudding. Service was plesant but very slow. Food arrived quickly once ordered but took 20 minutes to clear table and had to ask for dessert menu and again for waitress to take our order. Sticky toffee pudding was good though. Usually I do not leave reviews but the five star ratings left previously has no resemblance to the dining experience I had today.

Visited with friends and had a fantastic meal, great service and sensible prices. Delicious food and sensible portion sizes. Hope to visit again in the future.

Busy mothers day lunch. Perhaps not quite up to their usual high standards. Manager quite understanding when we mentioned this and made small reduction in our bill. Will certainly go there again.
