very nice shaved ice. it has very even flavoring and the flavors are not too strong. they have a good system where they only let a batch of people inside the store at a time. however, the wait both inside and outside the shop is a bit long.

Exceeded expectations! One of the best shaved ice I’ve had in years. If you like coffee/coffee flavored things, highly recommend the Dirt Squirrel—it tastes like a sweet iced latte. My husband liked the Fu Manchu as well! It’s such a delicious yet light and refreshing treat. ☺️

Is there any way I could give 10 out of 5 stars? This is the highest quality and most unique shave ice you could find anywhere, ever, in the history of the universe. No sticky, sugary syrups—everything is made in house with fresh ingredients. People confuse the name for a barbershop, so they have some kind of fun mustache theme. Friendly kids work there. Shaded outdoor seating the courtyard with other shops and eats. I guess there’s a shared bathroom, but I don’t see it just glancing around. When is the next time I will come anywhere to the island of Kaua’i? Will I go to The Fresh Shave? I yearn to know… If you choose to give a thumbs-up 👍🏽 or not, I hope you found my review helpful!

Walked in and the aroma of fresh zested citrus was delightful. This shave ice stands out by using only the freshest ingredients. Loved it so much we came back a second time. Each visit the staff was friendly and gave great recommendations. Tips: This place looks a like a barber shop from the outside. I walked past it the first time. The space is small, you may need to have some patience and queue outside. Some flavors and ingredients are available while supplies last. That’s okay, you might find a new favorite flavor or visit more often.

We ordered the Caterpillar (orange creamsicle) & Lip Luggage (chai). The ice is perfect, the flavors were fresh & delicious. 10/10 recommend. Our only complaint would be that the chai flavor is definitely “watered down” by the ice as you’re eating it & easier to appreciate toward the end when you get more concentrated flavor. Staff weren’t overly friendly but the shop itself is super cute.

Happened to get shaved ice while an employee was getting trained. The gentleman training was patient and kind, but didn't let the training affect the service he provided. Quick and personable service. Great tasting shaved ice with fun menu names. Would recommend for anyone, but especially for the dudes with facial hair ;)

The quality of the shaved ice is great; however the employees have been trained to be far too rigid about making any modification to the pre-arranged flavors, even when they are out of certain flavors and toppings. A simple request to use the syrup of the chevron in the handlebar ice was denied, even though it was only requested because they were out of stock of the handlebar syrup. This left a poor taste on an otherwise positive experience.

Delicious Hawaiian Shaved Ice While honeymooning in Kauai we had to try some delicious Hawaiian shaved ice. We ordered The Chevron to share it tasted like a key lime pie with lime, coconut milk and chia seeds on top of the shaved ice. I liked how they had organic and all natural favors to make it a healthy refreshing sweet treat for us. This is a hidden gem in Old Koloa Town a must visit. It one of the top shaved ice places around Kauai. Just a few shops and restaurants around the small little town.

How can you go to Hawaii and not have shaved ice? This is a friendly place to get your quick fix. I have a pic of their favorites or make your own. There isn't any indoor seating, but there is plenty of seating in the adjacent common courtyard. As you can see in my pic, the shaved ice was appropriately sized. The texture was on the smooth side and there were plenty of flavorings. Parking in this part of town is a bit tough; we parked in an adjacent parking lot and walked over.

My husband and I came to Kauai on vacation for our anniversary. We've had other shave ice places but none have compared to this one! We had to come multiple times during our stay in Koloa because we enjoyed it so much! I really love the fresh fruit they add on top! And the flavors are just so yummy! I have tried the Fu Manchu and The Professor and my husband had the Catepillar and The Dirt Squirrel. The spot is super cute. And the names of their shave ice are so clever . The service was quick and all the workers we encountered were super friendly. I already told my husband the next trip to Kauai we will be back to this spot!

After two trips to Kauai and now the Big Island, this is still my favorite shave ice! They use real fruit and it really makes such a big difference. The only thing I wish they did is put ice cream under the ice but there's also nothing wrong with just classic shave ice. The area around this shop has also expanded and is way nicer than it used to be which makes it fun to sit outside.

What a totally fun place! All natural, organic toppings with plenty of outside benches. Totally chill setting. Best possible staff. The ambiance is amazing because there is a court yard outside to enjoy. I had one and went back for the coffee for a second one. Highly recommend trying them all because we'll go back today. I love shaved ice and am always seeking the beat. This rates as one.

I was very excited to try The Fresh Shave since everything is made in house and is supposed to be a healthier shave ice but we were left underwhelmed. The texture of the ice itself was great but it lacked flavor. Barely any coconut flavor. It tasted watered down. The fresh pineapple was a nice touch but after you're done with the fruit topping you're left with basically ice. It could be that we picked the wrong flavor which is why it was so light tasting? The service was friendly and attentive and there are plenty of places to sit outside. We might give it another try before leaving Kauai since it's close to where we're staying and hope that maybe we just chose the wrong flavor.

They have pre-set flavor combinations, so we went with the Orange Creamsicle. I enjoyed it but would've preferred something with passion fruit. Sooo disappointed. There are absolutely no alterations to their menu. Simply asked for no coconut shavings and to replace with strawberry purée. Simple request. Sadly NO WAY. Not impressed. Won't be back. Note: manager or owner should train employees better. Understandable teenagers are not exactly expected to know how to think out of the box but with a little training could go a long way and make your customers happy! Won't let it ruin my day but I will go elsewhere

Fresh shave has some pretty fresh and refreshing shaved ice! Service is really friendly and the inside is super cute! They have seating outside with tables in a cute little area. The shaved ice was so refreshing on a hot day. The syrups were delicious and the fruit was fresh! We had the one with mango and we loved it! I kind of wish they did ice cream but that's ok the shaved ice was wonderful.

So glad to see that this place was able to recover from the horrible rains and flooding so quickly. We were also very lucky to walk in, and there was no line for once. The young man working this particular day was quintessential Kauai and it was fantastic!!! The menu is absolutely incredible and offers a lot of fresh options. Our two shave Ices came out very quickly and he did a great job building it. Everything was absolutely refreshing and tasty. Would definitely come back here again.

Finally found this place! I've been searching this place for quite some time! It wasn't too hard to find in old Koloa town. We went close to closing time and they were very friendly about it. We got the man chu shave ice and the ice was so soft and I love their syrups! Will definitely come back!

This is a wonderful shave ice shop find in a little town in Koloa, Kauai. Creative combinations of flavors. I got dropped off by uber. Parking is a little scarce but it's worth the effort. There are names such as The Professor and I like The Dirt Squirrel since it had coffee in it. There are tables outside to eat the shave ice. There is shade from trees and was a great time to enjoy nature and this cute town.

Really delicious, healthyish treat. I got the coconut and pineapple shaved ice. It was mostly coconut flavored ice with some pineapple topping. The ice part was buttery smooth and fluffy. The coconut flavoring was creamy and sweet but not overly rich like ice cream. The pineapple topping was a nice tangy counterpoint to the creaminess of the coconut. In the back there is little river/creek area with palm trees. Very relaxing spot in the middle of paradise to enjoy a refreshing sweet treat.

This was my favorite shave ice in Kauai! Such a funny/cute concept where all of the flavor choices are based on a style of mustache. Everything is preset here so there are no custom orders. We got The Caterpillar (Orange+Creamsicle), The Handle Bar (Coconut+Pineapple, and the Fu Manchu (Strawberry+Banana+Cream). Each of them had really good flavor and the ice texture was very soft. They use fresh fruit as toppings and as their syrups so drinking the juice+ice left was very refreshing. I think the best ones were the Caterpillar and Fu Manchu. The orange creamsicle combination reminds me of those old flintstones pushpops. I would definitely want to come back and try their other combinations!

We used to like this place at the old food truck location. The skinny guys manager at the new locations is super rude looks like he's not happy being there. He's not very nice to the employees either. not sure if he's the owner or manager but definitely need an attitude adjustment when it cost $10 for a small shaved ice. Super rude service.

Friendly service! Small shop so they only ask that 3 parties be in at a time so you aren't crowding one another. We got the Fu Manchu while our friends got some version of the dirt squirrel I think but it had cookie crumbles on top. They really enjoyed theirs but I don't like coffee so I didn't taste it. I really mine as it was super refreshing and the ice was soft. Definitely recommend coming here after you stopped at sueokas for a burger.

The gentleman training was very kind and patient, while still providing top notch service. Cool wall displays and things to look at while they are preparing your order. What a great place to catch a refreshing treat! I love that they stand out from a typical shaved ice place and offer fresh ingredients for their syrups/sauces/toppings. We had The Professor (berries & açaí) and The Fu Manchu (strawberry and banana plus cream)- both fabulous! They also have a "secret menu" that was shared in a local article they have taped on a door if you want to check out a couple extra options! My son was obsessed with this place!! I visited them a while back when they had just a food truck by the warehouse and they have since moved to a shop right when you enter Poipu where there's a bunch of other little shops. We had no problem finding nearby street parking. Their shave ice is special since the flavors are all so "fresh" and they have unique ones too! My son loved their orange one, "The Caterpillar" which was super refreshing and I would highly recommend! I also tried the cold brew and their strawberry one which were both good but can't beat the Caterpillar. Service was great and the staff were nice!

If you live fresh fruit, naturally made flavors and shave ice, this place is your jam. We went with a group of six and made it through with six happy shavers. Everyone enjoyed their pick from a pina colada type, to a mojito taste, a strawberry banana mountain, and açaí with fresh bananas. I don't remember the names of each, but definitely do not expect flavors like blue Hawaiian or sour grape. This place uses real fruit and local flavors.

I love when you finally get to try a place and it lives up to the hype. Without a doubt the best shave ice on the island. It's the full package- great location, perfectly delicious shave ice, fresh fruit, service with aloha, cool stickers, merch and customized spoons, cups etc.... Just everything is very well done here. Love the "history of shave ice" on the wall. Anyone who doesn't "get" a 5-star experience here just needs to go back to the resort pool.

When I saw this spot had such great reviews, I knew I'd have to check it out! The Fresh Shave has a bunch of flavor combinations available, each named after a different facial hair style. I went with the Chevron, which was lime and coconut flavored with a coconut chia seed cream. The flavors were pretty pronounced and the syrup didn't taste overly artificial or sweet. The only thing that could have made it better would be a dollop of ice cream under the ice, which another shave ice place I visited served. When I stopped by, there was just one employee working there, but she was pretty fast. It was fun watching her shave down the ice. There isn't really much of any seating in the shop, but there are picnic tables in the area outside. If you're looking for a refreshing treat in Kōloa, this is your spot!

I've had The Fresh Shave bookmarked for awhile and finally got to try it. Easy 5 star! It exceeded my expectations and I'll definitely make a point to come here whenever I'm near Koloa town. The Shave ice itself is exactly how it's supposed to be, like lite fluffy snow. The syrup was very good with clean flavor. Fruit topping was fresh cut just before placing it on. I'm so impressed with how clean the shop is and how carefully each order is made.

The shave ice here is very fresh and delicious.. so we did come here several times thoughout our visit to the island. The owner is very strange and he seems to always be there. He brought ice balls out for the kids to throw at the chickens... I had to tell my kids it's not cool to hurt animals. You live on Kauai.. chickens are a part of the package dude. Also while ordering, the people in front of us asked if they had anything kid friendly like rainbow and the owner mentioned to them "go somewhere else for that, we don't do that, read the menu".

This is not a barber shop. I repeat, this is not a barber shop! On our tour de shave ice, I'd put this as #2 in the list. I really like that they used fresh fruits compared to other places. The syrup is not artificial at all. Everything is really fresh.. hence the name. I came here twice in my trip and enjoyed the shave ice. My fave is the Fu Manchu which strawberry, banana and cream. Love the location. There's a nice area where you can sit and enjoy your shave ice. This place is also located next to a market where I ended up going to pick up some snacks!

UPDATE! I already reviewed the Fresh Shave when they were located at their first location on island which was in a tiny, portable trailer located in a dirt parking lot on a different part of the island. I said it then, I'll say it again. This place is Magic! Gourmet shaved ice that will make your kids syrupy, artificial flavored shaved ice look sad, very very sad. I am so happy to see that they have grown, are in a brick and mortar building, but are staying true to their roots and remaining humble. So no matter what part of the Island you are staying/vacationing, make the drive over to Koloa town and check out the Fresh Shave, I think you will love it! Run, don't walk to come here and get shave ice! Was in the area on Sunday and didn't realize they were closed (insert very sad face here). But we were redeemed when we came back on Monday and they were open!! Went in and looked at the menu on the wall. There's only 8 options on the menu, but I couldn't decide. So I asked which were the most popular items and they told me The Fu Manchu and The Handle Bar, so we got both of those. The juice is fresh and not artificial, fresh fruit on top and the shave ice was just perfect. I'm writing this review after sampling a few other shave ice on the island and this is by far my husband and my favorite. Highly recommend!

This was my first time having shave ice and omg sooo good. It reminded me of gola gunda from Pakistan (I'm Pakistani). The condensed milk really makes the shave ice and I love that the syrups they use are from fresh fruits!! Only downside is you don't get to select your flavors, there's like 5 to choose from and they don't have as much fresh fruits I would like them to have. Otherwise sooo tasty.

Really good Shave Ice. We got the cold brew + cream + sugar. It was delicious and not cheap syrup tasting, at all.

We had the Handle Bar flavor. It was pretty good and the syrups were high quality. If I went back I'd get something a little more tart and fruity to add to the mix!
