Was visiting from Omaha and wanted to spend the day in the River Market. The Farmhouse was highly recommended from several locals we had met. I would highly recommend making a reservation, as we were a group of 4 at 9am and waited 45 minutes for our table. The wait is well worth it though. The staff were super friendly and the food was amazing. Highly recommend the French Press Coffee and the Blueberry Donut for the table if it’s on the menu. As for the rest of the breakfast menu, everything our table ordered came out in large portions and was delicious. The table conversation died off as we were all too busy stuffing our faces. Whether you are a local or just visiting, I’d highly recommend The Farmhouse and give it a 10/10!!

This is the best brunch I've ever had in my life. Father's Day 2025. My wife and I shared the corned beef hash, and the blueberry sweet cheese muffin, which was a special today. I got a Coke and she got an iced tea and they were in quart glasses. Lovely. No refills required. I eat corned beef hash as my go to add a lot of breakfast restaurants and this one is so far beyond anything I've ever had before that it's ridiculous. The staff and atmosphere here are so cool! Ask for Christopher for your server. He's AMAZING!!! If we can't come to the farmhouse for brunch going forward, we'll just skip it. Just wow!!!!

I have made the reservation for the table of 5 (last Wednesday) for our Sunday brunch in OpenTable app. I am so glad we did it. We saw a lot of people waiting for a table today. They don't have a lot of space in the waiting area so you may need to wait outside & it's not good if the weather gets bad. So, please make sure to reserve your table before going there. We waited just about 5 minutes for our table today. It was very busy this morning. Loved the ambiance & lots of natural light in there. We also got a cute little baby chair for our little one. We started with some pineapple juice & coffee. I ordered Lemon ricotta pancakes with sausage patty. Pancakes were delicious & I was so glad it was not too sweet. Sausage was perfectly cooked! It took about 20-25 minutes to get the food we ordered otherwise it was a good first impression for me at The Farmhouse!!!

We went there for breakfast and the place and ambiance inside was very nice. The staff was taking care of every time and they where very friendly. Food was very delicious, great taste! Coffee on a French press was perfect. Not to busy so that we didn't have to wait. There are some parking areas around, because of the hour we found paid parking on the street.

Google
Great service, amazing food choices. Our table had a variety of things. Ruben, Corned Beef Hash, cinnamon roll, hamburger and something else. Everyone was very happy with their meal. They have interesting adult beverages available. I would like to go back and try something else on the menu. This place should be on your list when in KC.

Google
The service and atmosphere were wonderful. The food is downright delicious. The reason for my 3-star is that the price to amount of food ratio is off on some dishes. My friend got the cinnamon roll and that looked to be a great quality and amount for the money she spent. I got their corned beef hash. The has had maybe 2 tablespoons worth of corned beef and 4 or 5 potatoes. The rest was onion and zucchini. I'd just expect heavier on the potatoes and corned beef for ordering Corned Beef Hash. I'm conflicted in my review because the food was so absolutely delicious.

Google
Got to restaurant slightly before they opened at 9AM on Sunday and there were 12 people lining up ahead. We got to our table pretty quick once it was opened. Our waitress was very atte rice and friendly to us. We tried the cinnamon roll and glad it wasn't overly sweet like most places. The homemade Danish was ok. Sausages were good cuz they were not too salty and we enjoyed the ambient of the place. You can make reservation online as this place is always crowded especially on the weekends. I'd go again!

Google
A great brunch menu with great breakfast cocktails! The portions were very good. I got the eggs Benny and decided not to get an extra side, and it was definitely enough. We also had the breakfast old fashioned that was very good! Fast, friendly service, nice atmosphere. Would return!

Yelp
We found this place searching for places close to our AC hotel. Let me tell you folks - this place is impressive and has a much better done breakfast experience. Here's a run down: - They say they're using local farms...and I have no doubt this true. Why? Well, the eggs I had for starters - a real deep rich yolk and a smooth balanced egg white - those are real deal eggs. Then the sausage used in the sausage gravy....again...not your run of the mill basic sausage...that sausage was far superior. - Country fried steak: I deconstructed mine as I don't like my food mixed all together. The corn relish topper was good. The potatoes were great (finally, a place that actually gets the potatoes cooked well and browned off nicely). And the chicken fried steak had a great taste and an easy chew. - Sausage gravy: Some excellent stuff here. This gravy was made from scratch and isn't that crappy pre-fab gravy crap. This place is making a real gravy....with a deeper roux color....and it (does not) have some uncooked flour taste. This stuff was seasoned well and a joy to eat. - The service....uhm...way above average service....an uncommon level of service even on this day. Oh....I forgot the cinnamon roll: a big sucker it is....drenched in icing....and it was real good. Don't go thinking your table needs more than (1)...it's big. My only knock on the place...which isn't hardly the end of world. And I do have the pic attached off chicken fried steak (for when the owner/mgr sees my post....it looks like they're good and review these): My entree didn't have much gravy. I asked for a side of gravy....and I got jabbed $4 for a side of gravy. Seeing how gravy was part my actual entree...seems a bit excessive...especially since that gravy was their country gravy...no sausage content. But no matter my one minor knock of a gravy up charge.....let me tell you....this place does breakfast great. This place is paying attention to all the little details. And it's a real winner of a spot in KC!

Yelp
Food here is pretty good. Service was decent. The time it takes for food to be prepared takes a long time. Maybe 30min or more since order and when our food arrived. This is a good brunch spot and, if you expect to be here for a while and drink, it's worth getting a larger format drink (like a bottle of wine). I really liked the chicken and biscuit. The lemon ricotta pancake was also very good (especially the lemon ricotta). Cocktails -the coffee old fashioned as pretty good. The coffee is a bit of an after taste but enjoyable nonetheless -the espresso martini is a "homemade" version so there's some sort of cream or dairy. It's tasty if you want a spiked chocolate milk with cinnamon notes, but definitely not a classic espresso martini (so don't expect it)

Yelp
yeah, no. Cute place and I want to Love it but falls short. I guess the cinnamon roll was hard to get past. so dry and bready'. seriously needed twin to 3x the cinnamon mix. not my style. The omelet was good but nothing special. We left and went somewhere else for a treat after.

Yelp
Loved eating here! Made an online reservation a few days ahead. Would definitely recommend a reservation as people were waiting to be seated as we arrived. Parking is street/metered only. Wasn't too terrible finding a spot on a Saturday morning. Ambiance is cute! Even though it was a full house, it didn't seem overly crowded or loud. The exposed bulb lighting was a little distracting. Partner and I split the cinnamon roll, fresh fruit side, and the palmberg veggie omelet. Would definitely recommend them all! The cinnamon roll was my favorite and I would come back just to have it again! The side of potatoes came with a homemade ketchup I didn't super love, but I appreciated it nonetheless.

Kevin W.

Yelp
First time at The Farmhouse. Glad we made a reservation, this place gets busy. Cool rustic feel with wood posts and high ceilings. We had the Chicken n' Biscuit and the Corned Beef Hash. Chicken was crispy and covered in country gravy over a biscuit, very tasty. The hash had roasted potatoes, onions and peppers with corned beef and a black pepper cream sauce. Really enjoyed the corned beef and the sauce was delicious. Adding a biscuit would have been a good idea to get all that sauce! Huge plus the restaurant is right next to a street car stop.

Yelp
Farm fresh and FUN! Our go-to spot for weekend brunch to decompress and laugh over the best food and towering mimosas. Everything here is truly farm fresh and we leave every time full of great food and setting the tone for a joyous day. This needs to be on your KC bucket list. Make a reservation ahead of time and you'll have no problem!

Yelp
Highly recommend making a reservation if you want to avoid a wait. We had a reservation for 10:30 on a Saturday and were seated immediately after receiving a text that our table was ready. My husband and I ordered: Eggs Benedict (4.5/5): very tasty with a buttery challah bread and a generous amount of ham. The side of potatoes were diced small and very crispy. This dish would be a 5/5 if the potatoes were a little lighter on the salt. The ketchup tasted homemade with some small bits of tomatoes, it was sweet and more similar to salsa than Heinz. Farmhouse Pho (3.5/5): this was on their seasonal menu. The bowl was on the smaller side, it was light on noodles but was meaty. The meat and egg were seasoned well but the broth was not very hot. The rare steak wasn't quite cooked enough. It had all the makings of a great dish, but the broth needs to be at a rolling boil before adding to really seal the deal. French Press Coffee (5/5): very smooth and tasty! Worth it. This is a cute spot and completely full on a Saturday morning. Despite how busy it was, service was wonderful. They brought a new bowl of pho after I shared the broth wasn't hot enough. Everyone was friendly and we had a wonderful brunch.

Yelp
Lateeeee review alert (oopsie daisy) I came here while visiting a friend who moved to KC this year and she says this is the place she takes all of her visitors. You generally need a reservation to go, and it looks like they are pretty busy right upon opening. That's when we went, and we were done within 40 minutes- talk about fast! As the name implies, it's farmhouse decor with mason jar water glasses and wooden furniture. Food was incredible. Their French press coffee is fine, it's a good value with about 4 cups for like $7. The cinnamon roll is huge and delicious and to-die-for. The eggs Benedict platter is also amazing and has probably been the serving to really turn me on to eggs benny! This out-of-stater would sure love to come again!

Austin W.

Yelp
Very nice trendy place. They offer a limited menu with some different types of selections for sure. Prices are a little steep for breakfast for what u get but that's also the trend... waitress are very friendly and the food french toast and the cinnamon roll were really good. However I had the corned beef hash and it's definitely not what I expected. It was a soupy gravy mess, with chunks of actual corned beef which itself was tasty but not the entire presentation. The coffee comes in a 4 small cup French press pot. No free refills we really like coffee so that sucks. Oh and no stirrers or spoons?

Sydney C.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast! Highly recommend making a reservation if you're going for weekend brunch as it's minimal seating in a popular area. I would say it's a little overpriced for the standard breakfast dishes on their menu but would recommend!

Becky B.

Yelp
Incredibly friendly service and pineapple mimosas were the highlights here. My friend got the eggs Benedict and lemon-ricotta pancakes; I got the chicken fried steak and eggs. Pancakes were (not surprisingly) super sweet, more like dessert for breakfast. The chicken fried steak was thin, a bit dry, and not very flavorful, but the over-easy eggs were perfect and the white-cheddar poblano grits were good. Ambiance was very nice; we sat at the table in the middle of the front picture window. Everything was clean. Would return but order something else.

Tati O.

Yelp
Just the experience here is overall disappointing. Waited 45 mins for a table, sat down. Ordering food, everything is out. Coffee, Salmon - which is the weekend special. The table next to us, which ordered after, were served quicker. Pouched eggs - not it. They were dry. Overall the experience here was not great. Wish I could recommend, but it's a no for me.

Cheri M.

Yelp
My friend and I were looking for a nice brunch place and came across The Farmhouse. It was a little busy but we were seated right away. Looking at the menu it was very hard to choose because everything sounded very good. I decided on eggs Benedict because that is my very favorite breakfast. It not only was the best shaved ham I think I've ever had but the best eggs Benedict as well. Oh and the bread was challah bread, wow. So tasty! I really want to come back here and have that again, but I also want to try other things. Great service great atmosphere great food. I'll be back.

Dan M.

Yelp
This was a spot serving brunch with a farm to table setting. The inside was nicely decorated and had a comforting feel to it. The menu had a number of interesting options to choose from while the service was friendly. I went with the Cowboy butter sirloin ($19). This was an 8 oz. Angus sirloin with two eggs, pickled onions, roasted jalapeno chimichurri, and chipotle-herb butter with crispy smashed potatoes. I opted for the steak to be cooked medium rare and it came out perfect. This overall was great. The sear on the steak to the slight heat of the chimichurri made for a very appetizing dish. The butter was a nice touch. My only small issue was the sunny side up eggs I chose. The yolks were a little too hard, but not a huge deal. I also tried the huevos rancheros, which were tasty as well. Will I go back? Yes.

Tessa S.

Yelp
Underwhelming. Food was mid, especially for price. The redeeming factor is its local and farm-to-table.

Erin M.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place and would go back in a heart beat. Make a reservation if you don't want to wait, but the wait would be worth it. It is adjacent to the farmer's market and river, so a great location. The food tasted ultra fresh and home cooked. The cinnamon roll with the bacon was a good mix of salty and sweet. The biscuits and gravy was amazing and the hot honey was spot on with the flavors. This place has lots of varied seating. The service was great; very well staffed and the staff seemed to work together well. I would recommend it for catching up with adult friends for brunch or a nice meal before walking the market.

Mandy L.

Yelp
A great brunch menu with great breakfast cocktails! The portions were very good. I got the eggs Benny and decided not to get an extra side, and it was definitely enough. We also had the breakfast old fashioned that was very good! Fast, friendly service, nice atmosphere. Would return!

Kalana M.

Yelp
went for the first time ordered biscuits and gravy and french toast it took 30 minutes for it to come out and it wasn't even that good. we sat at the bar and it was really busy so im not sure if that contributed to the time it took, the bartender was really nice but the wait on the food was disappointing for it to not even be that good.

Chad S.

Yelp
Food was fantastic, we had no wait time showing up around 9:30 on a Wednesday morning and our server Victoria was nice and attentive during our meal. Atmosphere is light and fun. Would definitely recommend for anyone visiting KC.

Luke H.

Yelp
Make a reservation! Showed up with lots of open tables but had to wait 30 minutes as everyone else already seemed to know you make your reservation in advance and just walk in when ready for a weekend brunch time. Maybe less necessary during the week but we were hungry and perturbed to wait so long. The food was great though and the environment is lovely. The he cinnamon roll is one of the best I've had. Chicken biscuit sandwich was super flavorful and delish. My partner got the special which was also very tasty. Great place for brunch--probably one of the best in the city from our experience!

Allen V.

Yelp
Went there on a Saturday morning before a Current game. We sat on the patio, which was very nice on this morning. The restaurant was packed and we did not have reservations. We ordered coffee and we were brought a French press coffee. The coffee was lukewarm. A pot and/or cup warmer would have been nice. I had the Chicken and Biscuit. I thought the portion size was small for the price. The chicken was stringy and difficult to cut. I thought the gravy was tasteless. My partner had chicken fried steak that they said was crispy and tasty. Probably 50/50 if we will return in the future.

Yuli V.

Yelp
The service was absolutely atrocious. We were treated unfairly and the server was rude with attitude. We waited over 15 min for drinks while other tables received their drinks timely. The food was really good.

Regina S.

Yelp
The Farmhouse is a cute local brunch place in the River Market. I was intrigued when I walked by and saw the cozy (and packed) interior. Although nothing stands out on their menu, everything I've tried has been really good. French toast, traditional breakfast, etc. Service has always been great, even on weekends. We even had a large group one on the weekend, but with a reservation, it was a breeze. I'm intrigued by their mimosa tower, and hope to try it sometime soon. I 100% recommend this place. Like everything in city market, parking can be a little tricky.

Maddie K.

Yelp
Wowowowowow this place is good!! You can tell everything is made from scratch using quality ingredients down to the toast and jam. The biggest compliment our party had was all the food was individually outstanding despite the business of the place on a Sunday morning before the Super Bowl. I'm not typically a corn beef hash person but the high veggie count pulled me in and now it'll be hard to try something else on our guaranteed next visit. Not pictured was amazing French press and espresso martini which delivered on expectations. Service was quick and friendly and we got in relatively fast for a group of 4 on a busy Sunday with no reservations at prime breakfast time. 10/10 experience!

Mark P.

Yelp
Excellent food and service would definitely recommend service was also on point. Didn't try the pancakes but they looked wonderful.

Isabella D.

Yelp
Delicious! Such a fun spot in the river market with outdoor patio seating for those sunnny days. Food is high quality and super yummy, will come back to enjoy some more items on the menu!

Scott S.

Yelp
For our last meal in KC we booked The Farmhouse for breakfast. Located nearby City Market it is a wonderful and very busy farm to table place. I ordered the brisket tamale with eggs, Cotija cheese, and microgreens. It was fantastic. I never get fresh tamale as back east and this was a joy to eat. Every bite was fantastic. My Daughter got the lemon ricotta pancakes with a side of bacon. She loved it. The coffee was good and string a d the service was exceptional. If I'm in KC again this is a definite. Put it on your bucket list

Connie C.

Yelp
Service not so good. Waited for about 30 minutes for egg dishes and pancakes. Pancakes came out cold that butter would not melt. Other fishes came out lukewarm. Would not recommend as a good breakfast place! Very pricey for food that is ok.

Bart W.

Yelp
This a must do in Kansas City. Our second time eating here and the breakfast is delicious. Pancakes and cinnamon rolls are worth the trip alone. Service was top notch. Prices are very reasonable.

Shay D.

Yelp
Cute little spot downtown KC. I opted for the rooster which is a fried chicken sandwich with slaw. It would have been nice to have more sauce on the sandwich or get some on the side. The "ketchup" was very watery and lack taste. I did enjoy the fries, fresh and crunchy but missed the tasty ketchup element. I had a ginger beer on the side which you can never go wrong with one of those!! Service was fast, waiter was very nice. 3.5/5 stars.

Kelli W.

Yelp
Came here for my monthly brunch with my friend. There was a wait but I had reservations (score) so we were seated immediately. If you come here, MAKE RESERVATIONS. The restaurant is nice. Very nice local art all over the place. For drinks, we ordered the Cherry Limade Mimosa. They were so good! So good. For meals, we both had the Chicken and Biscuit. I added the Potato Hash. Everything was delicious except their homage ketchup. It was basically smashed tomatoes. Not tasty but I won't count them off for that because the food was so good. Fluffy biscuits, the chicken was cooked perfectly (and they use thighs not breasts) and the egg was great. Didn't need to ad any extra salt or pepper. It was seasoned great. Overall, great place. Do yourself a favor and park in the free parking at 711 Main and take the streetcar over so you don't have to figure out parking because it's a nightmare. The website even says allow 15 minutes for parking. We will be back and bringing the rest of the crew so we can tackle the mimosa tower.

Aaron S.

Yelp
Really love this place. With good food and being in the heart of the River Market, it seems to always have a good sized crowd so I highly recommend a reservation. I really admire their farm to table model as they support farmers from both Missouri and Kansas. This place is really a breath of fresh air and I've never been disappointed. To drink, I tried the dragonberry spritz and it was quite refreshing. I ordered the Chicken N' Biscuit and really loved it. Definitely one of KC's premier brunch spots!

Samuel D.

Yelp
Viktoria was an amazing server! We enjoyed having her and the tips she also offered about getting around the city. The food itself was tasty and fresh, from the initial bite to the last ! The eggs Benedict was suggested to me by another local and it lived up to the expectations. The interior of the place was great and I think for a Friday morning fairly quiet ! Would love to eat here on return one day.

Yesenia M.

Yelp
Starting to really like this place more each time I visit. I do recommend making a reservation as it usually is super busy, especially on the weekends. I ordered the chicken n biscuit and it was SO good. Such a great combination of food along with a cranberry mimosa that I ordered. The atmosphere can get really loud as there is no background music and the tables are all super close. Service was decent--it could've been better, but I do understand they were probably extremely busy. Will definitely continue to come back!

Sarah J.

Yelp
My husband had some sort of stuffed French toast with blueberry cream cheese and grape jelly. (It was the chef's special.) I had the farmhouse omelet. Both our toddler and I loved the omelet meal. The potato hash that comes with it was excellent. Our server was super friendly. The restaurant has interesting brick walls and high ceilings, a loft kind of vibe. Our toddler enjoyed the goat and cow picture hanging above our table.

Haley S.

Yelp
I came here for brunch on a Friday morning and we were seated very quickly. The waitress gave us some great suggestions and we decided on the Johnny cakes and the shrimp and grits. Both portion sizes were good and the food was delicious. I saw the size of the cinnamon roll next to me which looked amazing I am going to have to get that next time!

Amanda R.

Yelp
Best coffee I have had in Kansas City!! Other than that a friendly service, there is nothing that will bring me back to this place. Their menu is not the typical brunch food, so keep that in mind when going there.

Gema A.

Yelp
This place has been on my list to try for whah seems to be forever! I stopped in here on a Sunday afternoon and expected a long wait but to my surprise, the wait ended up being only 20 minutes which was not bad whatsoever. The space is actually pretty large and the ambiance inside is actually pretty comforting. Let's just get to the food already.. I ordered the Chicken N Biscuit and I honestly have no idea why this isn't ordered as much.. I didn't really find ANY reviews talking about this dish and I am shocked. My dish alone was a 5/5. PLEASE ORDER THIS! It honestly wasn't that big of a portion and I completely cleaned my plate. The chili honey and chipotle butter definitely makes this dish. If I had one "complaint" or "critique" I think I would just make this spicier. The chipotle doesn't add any kind of heat just more so adds flavor. My s/o ordered the basic biscuits and gravy and this was pretty good in flavor also. I don't believe I've ever tasted gravy like this, to be honest. It was very unique in its taste but was pretty flavorful. I can't lie.. I definitely liked my food much more. Finally ended brunch with the Brioche French Toast and this was also pretty good. The pure maple syrup adds the right amount of sweetness and the tart berries make this french toast taste great. I think this dish would also be elevated if they had some kind of homemade jam. Now, it is always difficult for me to find 5/5 star restaurants and this place isn't necessarily a 5/5.. it's more of a 4.5 but you can't rate halves on yelp. This place is definitely closer to a 5 than a 4 so I rated higher. The absolute only reason I rated this a "4.5" is because my food came out a little lukewarm.. had it been a tad hotter, it would've been an easy 5. I am definitely coming back here again and I might just order the same thing.

Wes M.

Yelp
Coffee was great, omelet was 7/10, OJ was 5/10, atmosphere was nice, service was quick. It was cool

Tania S.

Yelp
Fantastic food- steak & eggs, biscuits & gravy and fresh cinnamon roll!! First time for using a coffee press and goodness my *buck habit may be in trouble! We loved our 38th Anniversary lunch...welcome to St Louis MO to the Strawn's! Loved it...on question- I thought I recognized the Chef that came to table beside us? Is there a reality star in the house posing as a chef?

Megan E.

Yelp
Good, only downside is that it is really hard to get reservations so just plan for that in advance. Also wish that parking was more convenient, but you can't always get what you want and we know that River market is horrible with parking. Food is good, they offer a good nice bottomless mimosa deal with friends, but overall was tasty. Would probably return just maybe try to come on a weekday

Jordan B.

Yelp
Obviously not pictured was the gargantuan cinnamon roll and the masses of food we consumed in addition to the festive fall cocktails we drank. Everything was delicious as expected! The service was great and the ambience was exactly what you would expect from a brunch spot in The River Market District but I'll take it a step further to appreciate knowing exactly which farm the items I was consulting came from. Responsibly food to table...it was lovely!

Christian R.

Yelp
Its a nice place, very well organized, cleaned and with its unique touch and decorations. Food is amazing, the Country fried steak and the omelette was great. That cinnamon roll at the start was amazing and the service was top notch. The only negatives was how loud the place is. At all times everyone is just screaming, its just a loud place, I couldn't even have a conversation with the person in front of me without having to raise my voice to match the loudness of the place.

Felicia W.

Yelp
Visiting my home city, so I googled best week day brunch. The Farmhouse came up in the top places. The customer service was great, the food was tasty, and the ambiance was relaxing.

Sandra P.

Yelp
I went today and it was too long of a wait. As I went to leave I tripped over a cord that was on the ground I'm 68 and could have broken a hip. Ok I know things happen But what upset me was their attitude like I was just bothering them. When the manager said oh well it's pushed back now. I asked them why they didn't at least tape it to the wall so it couldn't get in the way of anyone else"s feet he just ignored me. I would hate to have someone older than myself trip.

Raven S.

Yelp
Your next spot for brunch! Brunch should be filled with good food, good service, a fun atmosphere, and cool artwork and that is what The Farmhouse offers! I had the steak and eggs and it is easily the best steak and eggs I have ever had! I'm not typically a fan of blue cheese but the blue cheese butter on the steak adds a nice tang! We even were served by one of the owners who was extremely nice and struck up a conversation with us. Look no further, this is your next brunch spot in KC!

If you're coming to KC - eat at Farmhouse!!!!! Delicious! Totally recommend! Food is delicious - we had the veggie omelet with bacon (my partners choice LOL) and I had the farmers start. Absolutely amazing - eggs and potato cooked to perfection. I asked for crispy bacon and they DELIVERED beyond satisfied. We also had a lovely gentleman check in with us during our meal and we mentioned we were interested in a reservation the next day - the gentleman booked it for us immediately! Incredible service. Can't wait to go back!
