The Crab Shack in Thảo Điền touts itself as one of the top seafood restaurants, offering a bright and comfortable setting with both indoor and outdoor seating that is ideal for group gatherings.
For our group dinner, we tried the combo with crab legs, shrimp, corn, and potatoes in a spiced sauce, a coconut curry snail dish, and a baked crab dip with bread. While the restaurant markets itself as Cajun-inspired, the flavors leaned more localized and lacked the bold, zesty character of authentic Cajun cuisine. The food was decent but didn’t live up to the expectations set by its reputation.
Service was friendly and efficient, creating a welcoming atmosphere. However, the food is relatively pricey considering the average quality, and while the ambiance and group-friendly setup are appealing, it may fall short for those seeking authentic Cajun flavors or standout seafood dishes.

The food was absolutely amazing It exceeded my expectations, The service was great and the atmosphere was great. Highly recommend it!
We spent 3.5 million vnd for dinner of 4 which I felt was quite worth it for this quality of seafood.

New crab dishes at the Crab Shack. They tasted really good. The two crabs weighed 750g. Have it with rice, it was just perfect. The seafood tempura (squid + shrimp) is fresh and crispy. The garlic fried noodle, which is a must try in this restaurant, are definitely worth a try.

I have been in Ho Chi Minh for a week eating everything I see and this is the best meal I’ve had while I’ve been here. Our server Vincent was awesome. I hope him the best in the future

The king crab was delicious, with a distinctive and unique flavor. The staff were very attentive, frequently checking on us throughout the meal. They even prepared gloves for everyone in our group, though we declined to use them to support environmental protection. The price was a bit high, but considering the location in Thao Dien, it was quite reasonable.

We honestly didn’t expect much but we were blown away by how good the food is! Crawfish in Cajun sauce is apparently the must-try dish here and for the right reason, the sauce was BOMB! Mud crab with stir-fried vermicelli was super yum too, the Ca Mau crab was super fresh and succulent, vermicelli was perfectly seasoned, very umami. Calamari was fresh and well-done too, but it was certainly outshined by the Cajun crawfish and mud crab.
Service was 8/10, a bit lukewarm, make sure to ask for what you want, e.g: bibs/gloves are not provided unless asked.
One thing to note is that you should definitely ask to clarify the size of the portion, the smallest mud crab we could get is 800gr; probably best suited for medium to large group dining rather than just 2 people.
