The Asher Theatre and Conference Center

Hey Family, this is the only Black owned theater in Myrtle Beach SC, so let us show more support. We had our family Reunion, and took in two shows. This place is so beautiful and magnificent. Mr. Stephens has the best Motown Show that I have seen. I have been to a few in Las Vegas, Asher Theater is best!! The shows was enjoyable, amazing , and very entertaining. You can actually bring the whole family to show. My grandchildren said it was an awesome experience for them. If you live in Myrtle Beach or plan on visiting Myrtle Beach, go to Asher Theater and get your laugh, entertainment, and good times on. Great performance. The food was average but the show was amazing, minus their attention to one side of the room and the banter between two "temptation" members went on for too long. It got hot in the room, but we had a great time.

I really enjoyed myself and plan to visit its Motown night. I enjoyed a great magic show, singing and comedy! The bonus the proceeds go to help children. The history displayed is beautiful and amazing!

Had the pleasure of doing the Friday and Saturday show. My husband and I had the time of our lives. This show is amazing and a must see. This talented cast of comedians, magicians, dancer and singers will have you rocking to the beats one minute and in stitches the next. Thank you James Stephen’s and crew for an outstanding time. We will be back!! And we’re bringing company.

2/15/24: We’ve been coming to Myrtle Beach annually for over a decade to visit my 87 year old parents. Last nights experience at the Asher Theatre with my parents was the most moving and memorable experience ever! We attended the Ray Charles (James Stevens III)/Sam Cooke (Ron Dixon) tribute on Valentine’s Day. The headliner said that there would be crying and lots of laughing. I didn’t quite understand the crying part until… Ron asked the married men to stand up. Which was narrowed down to who was married the longest in the audience. My parents rocked at 67 years of marriage. He then proceeded to dedicate a song to them as they reached over and held each others hand with pure love. I then became a bumbling tearful emotional daughter, so proud of them. And it took almost the entire show to recover. We heard “Go Jean and Joe” cheers from the audience too. 2/18/24: Now the experience is even further embedded in my heart as I’m mom passed away unexpectedly yesterday. My mom and dad have been together for a total of 75 years as they met when they were just 12 years old. Thanks again for everything!

Went to see the Motown Review last weekend. Bought the dinner/show package. Pros - The show itself was very good, with lots of talented performers. I liked how they only sang snippets of the good songs, to keep things moving. The variety of Motown music wast really great too, with both male and female singers. Costumes to mimic the original musicians were done well. Show length was just right. Cons - While I didn't have any expectations, the food was quite underwhelming. I purchased the dinner because we wanted seats up close. We didn't go there to get a great meal, but for the performance. However, the food was cold and the chicken was dry. It was edible, but that's as far as I'll go. As mentioned, the performers were very talented. My only complaint is toward the end of the show, when they started with the religious stuff. It felt like church at one point. We didn't go there for religion, but to be entertained. They can lose an audience in that part of the show. There was a lot of banter between two of the performers, which was funny at first, but lasted FAR too long and took away from the time they were singing. That section can definitely be pared down. Overall, I'd recommend the show, but with the caveat of buying dinner. It's such a small venue, you can see the stage just fine from anywhere.

The food, horrible! My friend had to ask what she was being served! If you cannot identify what's on your plate, there's a problem.
