Google
Swung in just ten minutes or so before closing and snagged a 9 buck bento. The staff are so friendly and it truly is a little hole in the wall quick takeout spot. I tried the shrimp Tempura bento which was the perfect size for me and I loved the variety of vegetables and sides! Their sweet potato mochi is also phenomenal even at end-of-day. Looking forward to trying other daily bentos! :)

Google
Took one bite and KNEW I’ll be back the next time I’m in the area. The sweet potato mochi is delightful, crispy and chewy at the same time. I regret only buying 3 (one for each of us). Bought two andagi (Japanese donuts), they’re pretty much like an old-fashioned. Also bought a shrimp tempura roll bento, which comes with sweet potato tempura and fried chicken. Sweet little spot, can’t go wrong with anything you pick!

Google
Not sure if their restaurant is open right now but you can find their delicious bento and andagi every Tuesday afternoon at the Kaiser HS farmers market. Don’t let the long line discourage you - you’ll want to get that andagi and sweet potato mochi. Don’t fill up on that, though - the bentos are a great deal. I got one packed with a shrimp roll, potato croquettes, chicken karaage, and side veggies for $7. Vendors don’t usually get the same location every week, so just look for his table - and the line!

Google
Quick stop for delicious local Japanese style bentos! The garlic chicken is ono, and don't forget to grab a few sweet potato mochi and andagi for the road. The tofu patties are good too. There is a small drink fridge with soda and green tea for sale. The staff is friendly and the service is quick. Teruya's takes both cash and credit card.

Google
Classic local-Japanese food at its best. Family-owned and operated, Teruya's was located in Ala Moana Shirokiya for 20+ years until it found its rightful place in the heart of Honolulu. All the bentos, donburis, and snacks are made fresh daily with portion size and food quality far exceeding the price. You don't have to be a local at this local spot, there is something for everyone with service that can point you in the right direction if you aren't sure what to order. Homemade andagi (Okinawan donut) and sweet potato mochi should not be passed up if they have some left!

Google
Great bentos and andagi! Loved my shrimp tempura roll/onigiri thing 😅 For some reason, their fried chicken was one my favorites on the island even though it is not crispy anymore... Just come get a bento, you won't regret it. Very nice people too

Google
I was really excited to get a vegetarian bento here after seeing a picture on instagram! It was a great little lunch for 7.50 and fun to eat. Also the shrimp tempura roll made to order was really good! The andagi was very tasty with a crispy sweet exterior. :)

Google
OMG! I often pass this place on the Pensacola street but I didn’t realize this was such a great small lunch shop until I googled to find a good lunch shop near my place.

Yelp
I had some business at the Lunalilo Post Office, and thought I'd stop by Teruya's Andagi, which was along my way home. Having been there before, I knew that it was strictly a takeout place. Just inside the door, there's a counter with two display cases: one with various bento, and the other with Sweet Potato Mochi and Andagi. As I was looking at the menu and displays, I was greeted by the lady behind the counter. She seemed pleasant and helpful. I've had their andagi and sweet potato mochi before and knew they were good, but I don't recall having their bento. The menu items were reasonably priced. I decided to try Teruya's Oyako Don and their Veggie Bento. She informed me that the oyako don is made to order and would take a few minutes, which was fine with me. I chose the veggie bento as a lighter option, possibly for my wife. It had a variety of vegetable dishes in addition to the rice. She offered me a choice between one with bitter melon or seaweed and showed me what each one looked like. I decided on the one with bitter melon. When I got home, I ate the oyako don while it was still warm. It was a little on the sweet side, but still tasty and satisfying, with tender pieces of chicken. I'm saving the veggie bento for later, in case my wife comes home hungry. https://bsky.app/profile/raymondkaya.bsky.social/post/3lfiswytgwc2c

Yelp
I wish this place was open 24/7 so I could get my bento and andagi fix anytime. I'll have to settle for weekends when I'm in town.

Yelp
This cute little hole in the wall spot has several varieties of bentos to choose from, as well as andagi and sweet potato mochi. Included on the menu as well are donburi bowls and rolls. They also offer plain white rice and fried chicken for those that don't want the sozai (side dishes) We ordered several few chicken rolls (kind of like a chicken musubi) and andagi. The chicken was tasty and cooked well and the andagi was yummy. When you walk up to the door, there is a table which has the bento selections and sweet potato mochi and andagi. The employee at the order table was very nice. There were other employees working inside and out order came out quickly. I would definitely return to buy a bento or two. This place is great for a quick bite, lunch, or even just a snack for yourself or to share.

Leia T.

Yelp
Tiny hole in the wall. Take out only. Parking can be troublesome (street parking, no lot). There is usually a small line/wait but the staff are very helpful and friendly. Seriously though, good quality, yummy tasting food. For me, the portions are perfect, I will have a happy but not overly stuffed stomach. PS, follow their instagram, they sometimes pop up at Marukai or the Queen's Medical Center Farmers Markets. Thanks Teruya's, you are great!

Krysten I.

Yelp
Teruya's is located on Pensacola St., in the same block as Aunty Pasto's and Von's Chicken. There are metered stalls along the street, and it can get busy during lunch time in this area, so I really don't know when I'd be coming back. I had an appointment in the area though, and I was looking for a snack, so this was a perfect choice. Teruya's is not a sit down restaurant. It is a little take out counter in the doorway of a little room where they make all the bentos and handrolls. When I went at about 11:30, there was a small line, but it moved quickly. I ordered 2 shrimp tempura rolls and at $3.50 each, I thought it was a little expensive, but I guess I'm used to Kozo sushi sizes, because Teruya's handrolls are twice as big as Kozo Sushi's. They made the handrolls fresh and I waited just a couple minutes for them. The cashier gave them to me in little sandwich bags which I have never seen before. I knew they were going to be good because I could smell them even before I was able to dig in. They tasted freshly made and they add a sweet sauce to the rice for more flavor. It was a perfect accompaniment to the crunchy shrimp tempura. I was rather full after eating two. So much for a snack. Service was fast and friendly. I would definitely try other bentos they offer if parking wasn't so difficult. I some people illegally parked, but I don't think I would chance it. I could see a lot of the Kaiser workers or other office workers in the area coming to get lunch here because it's fast and delicious.

Ann C.

Yelp
This little spot is SO good! Takeout only. I helped a friend pick up a very large order for a party (over 60 bentos) and they were each packed with care; an employee kindly helped cart it out to the car and moved them into the trunk, too! The order was freshly prepared and right on time for pick up. Not only was the service great, but the food was so delicious! I tried the large roll bento and the veggie bento. The roll bento came with a shrimp tempura hand roll, a fried chicken hand roll, a bit of sausage, two croquettes, and some veggies (eggplant and greenbeans). The veggie bento was massive and came with 9 different little items including andagi (fried dough, savory), lotus, eggplant, green beans, daikon/carrot, hijiki seaweed, rice, and squash. It was all so delicious.

Sydni K.

Yelp
My office picked up lunch from here one day, and I got the veggie bento. I loved the variety of vegetables and sides that were in here. It doesn't look like a lot of food, but it was pretty filling. All the ingredients were fresh and of high quality. I think it had eggplant, tofu patty, hijiki, kabocha, purple rice, nishime, green beans, andagi, and kimpira - I could be wrong because I don't know my Japanese food very well.

C L.

Yelp
Oishii desu!! Great deal for ono bentos. Reminds me of Japan. Prices are very reasonable and they were so pleasant when greeting me. This will be my go to bento place from now on. Nom nom

Chris L.

Yelp
If you're local, I feel like there are a few foods that one always wants to eat but are not worth the effort of making. This place has two of them: andagi and sweet potato mochi. Having made both andagi and sweet potato mochi (similar to poi mochi) before, they are a ton of work, and I really just want one or two to satisfy my craving. My friends and I had gone to the Moiliili bon dance recently, and the line for andagi was so long that I thought, I'm pretty sure we can buy this somewhere else. It turns out there aren't that many places to buy andagi on a regular basis but this place is one of them! The sweet potato mochi was so good, I ate it before I could get a picture. It was crispy, chewy, not too sweet, and also not too oily. Perfect texture and flavor! I also got a veggie bento ($8.95) and shrimp tempura roll ($3). The veggie bento was delicious - especially the bitter melon stir fry, which was my first time trying it. All of the veggie options in it were good and it was surprisingly filling (but maybe also because I ate two mochi and one large andagi because I was so excited before digging in). Service was very friendly and helpful, and it was pretty easy to park in front on Pensacola. I will definitely be back again!

Amy F.

Yelp
Every Tuesday my son and I buy their bento at the Kaiser High School Farmers Market. They also helped me out when I needed to order bento for my Mom's funeral service and double checked to make sure they would be able to deliver it to the mortuary. Thank you Albert and Charles!!

Jamie D.

Yelp
The service is always thoughtful and present and that kindness goes a long way to making the food even more flavorful, and the food is always a yum- especially the vegetarian bento!! And always get an extra andagi cause the one in the meal is a little tiny and leaves you wanting the big one! I like to pick up food from their secret spot by qiueens pob 3- when they are there once or twice a week!! Easy parking, grab and go!!

Tiffany H.

Yelp
Was driving by and heard about this little mom and pop shop that's on the same block as auntie pastos. They just have take out available where you can pick up a bento to go through their entrance. Basically the entire place is their prep kitchen. Got a few different bentos. Prices are very reasonable and the food is good. Parking can be a pain but if you're lucky you can get street parking right out front.

Marie D.

Yelp
Their bentos have a lot to offer. Why? Because there are vegetarian and pescatarian. They can also cater for events. Their andagi was warm and crunchy and was not overly sweet.

Eric M.

Yelp
Mini bento & Poi Mochi & Andagi from @teruyas_andagi nearby Kaiser Honolulu. Haven't been here in awhile, but it's still ono! Parking - street parking or maybe you can sneak a spot at Walgreens across the street or if you are visiting Kaiser next door. Service - Wow...they even thanked me for coming by. Not too many businesses do that nowadays.

Doris C.

Yelp
Excellent courteous service. Bentos and ala carte items are very tasty. Andagi is available and delicious!

Ayumi G.

Yelp
I happened to pass by after chore so stopped at the whim. A few people were already waiting in the line. The line is formed outside the door since there's no place to step inside or eat. I took the bento to the nearest park and had a picnic. The lady at the front door with displayed bento boxes and necessary items on the table to process transactions was very courteous . She was also very friendly to the people whom I believe to be repeated customers. Some of customers seem to know each other having a few words of greetings and conversations not minding to wait in lines for their objects of desire It was very tasty and satisfying lunch experience. Must try at least once. As for me, definitely going back for the other bento!

Jenel O.

Yelp
I hadn't been to Teruya's since pre-pandemic days. Now they have a table with samples of their menu at the doorway and you order from there. We got the shrimp tempura musubi, musubi combo bento and the sampler bento. Everything was tasty and fresh. I really enjoyed the tofu patty in the sampler bento. The only downfall is the parking situation. There is a limited number of stalls on Pensacola and if you're lucky to find one, you'll likely have to parallel park with a lot of cars trying to zoom past/around you.

Nina U.

Yelp
You know what's good? All the things we love in the Veggie Bento! Plus the long beans, fried chicken musubi, and poi mochi donuts. We've been trying to snag a bento at Teruya's for a minute now. I was driving down the one way Pensacola St, it was early lunch hour, and there was parking on the right side! Zoom zoom, I pulled up and hopped in the short curbside line at their door. They are quick, the veggies and sides are just as high quality and oishi as it used to be at Shiyokiya's and nobody really comes close. The fried chicken musubi is okay, more like comfort food. It's fresh and I just wish it had a little more pizazz to it but I still get it

Craig F.

Yelp
Great bentos, andagi and ALWAYS gotta get the poi mochi balls. Friendly service and affordable prices. The food is so tasty! If you are unsure what to try you can't to wrong with shrimp tempura or garlic chicken rolls, vegetable or garlic chicken bentos are always faves for me.

Stephanie L.

Yelp
(10/25) Christmas 2022 reviews Yes, to Teruya's Andagi! The parking sucks, oh my god. But just hope you'll snag a street parking or risk it and park at the bank/ Walgreens/ Petco and scurry on over. Bentos and andagi are made pretty darn fresh and are very tasty. My go to is the shrimp roll or garlic chicken roll bento, and a couple of andagi to enjoy later. I found out recently that they can do large orders, so if you need to order bentos for a party, get those orders in! Great value, pretty quick service (when people aren't hold up the line), and tasty simple foods. One of my go-to lunch pick up spots for me and my coworker!

Karen P.

Yelp
5 star andagi. Hot, fresh, crisp on the outside, magically dense but light and just right sweet. I drove and waited around the corner, while my handy kids got the goods. No clue where parking is, no clue what service or interior is like- just 5 star andagi.

Joni P.

Yelp
They had me at Andagi (posted in the window)! This small walk-up counter on Pensacola is just down the street from Kaiser Hospital. The highlight is their vegetarian bento assortment, and andagi and mochi. Don't blink if you're driving by - you might miss this delightful hole in the wall! Seriously - it is a walk-up counter with their choices displayed upfront, ready for you to grab and go. Every item on the well-presented tray is mouth-watering, complementing the other items. I'm not a vegetarian, but this was seriously delicious! It is small, family-run, and worth the stop. Every item has been prepared with thought and care before it finds its place on the tray. And try the mochi - the proprietor gushed over it - it's his wife's favorite treat!

Jacqui S.

Yelp
Awesome service and good fresh food. The andagi and sweet potato fried mochi are must haves. I'll def come back again for the tendon!

Jess C.

Yelp
Wanted to do a bento box taste test between Teraryu and Obento Rinka and Teraya wins hands down. You order from a small walk up counter and the lady was so incredulous friendly and sweet. You can also see the staff in the room lovingly make all the bento boxes fresh. The prices are so incredibly affordable at $10 and under. They also sell small little donuts and sweet potato mochi malls for under a dollar! I loved the 3x 3 veggie platter. Such a treat to look at. Everything was fantastic and I would definitely order again.

DJ Nocturna R.

Yelp
I love this place for a quick lunch and good food especially if you're in a rush and you just need a fast bite to eat. You never have to wait. Parking is convenient and the service has always been so wonderful. Also it's a local owned business and so let's support local businesses in Hawaii

Rand E.

Yelp
Great local neighborhood takeout! Service always with a smile and good bento. So good to support local.

Scott M.

Yelp
Great place with very tasty bento and good service. Recently ordered 80 bento from here for a work gathering and was very impressed by how accommodating they were and that they were able to deliver for a reasonable price. Would definitely recommend Teruyas to others.

Daryle W.

Yelp
I was just here Thursday and I needed to go back for another killer B. Also, my son was anxious to try it.

Landon K.

Yelp
They have some delicious andagi and sweet potato Mochi snacks for only a buck ea! Reminds me of my childhood when my granny used to make these at home! They also have a good variety of bentos - my fave is the chicken karaage bento ($8). Check them out! They also have a pop up at the queens medical center on the lauhala st side! Perfsss before a long day at work!

Stewart Y.

Yelp
Simple and very tasty bentos, they have a limited variety. Their andagi is has a crunch on the outsides very tasty desert.

Shari S.

Yelp
Bought a tray of andagi for an event--very tasty, hard to stop at eating just one, not greasy at all and the owner/worker was very friendly and appreciative of the business. Parking was easy on Pensacola but if you were desperate, you could probably park across the street to pickup your food.

Diane F.

Yelp
Food is like the good old days Okazuya where it was home cooking by Grandma with love!

Kaz M.

Yelp
Make sure to feed your parking meter at least for ten min. These meter maids are watching cars on Pensacola like a hawk This joint makes everything so fresh. I LOVE their special side dishes that are available randomly. Support small local business. Pay cash if you can.

Aiden P.

Yelp
First time having an Andagi. Wow what a good first impression. I also got the garlic chicken roll which was delicious. Hot, fresh, and ready to go! The lady at the front was really patient and nice to everyone. Will be coming back for more!

Kyle O.

Yelp
If you grew up eating andagi you HAVE to check this place out! Everyone working there was super nice and you can tell all the love they pour into each individual andagi. You definitely get a sense of family when you are there. The andagi was delicious! Perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside.

Monica Y.

Yelp
Last weekend we ordered bentos from Teruya's and this was my first time trying their food. I got the shrimp tempura roll bento that came with karaage chicken, a piece of croquette, and some side dishes. The roll was so tasty and all the sides accommodated it well. I would definitely order from them again. The guy working in the front when we went to pick up our order was really nice & we were in and out of there in less than 5 minutes. There's street parking right in the front, so not much parking. Not sure if there's more parking around the back. Definitely recommend them if you're looking for a place to order bentos especially a large amount like we did!

James L.

Yelp
There's a reason that this bento-licious establishment has been around for almost 20 years. Others pale in comparison in quality, service, and price. This place is our ritual bento pickup spot for beach days with fam for easy picnicking. Garlic chicken roll to the chicken karaage, you really can't go wrong with your order. We always make sure to pickup a half dozen of some Okinawa dessert staples, like the sweet potato mochi, to enjoy afterward. Our fam' can't recommend this place enough.

Julie K.

Yelp
First time trying Teruya's and I must say I can't wait to come back. Got the veggie bento and shrimp and garlic chicken bento, oh my goodness, my tummy is happy. Clean and well operated. Definitely coming back. Aloha

Lee I.

Yelp
Went there a couple of weeks ago at around 12:00 p.m. on Saturday expecting a long line but there were only a couple of people ahead of us. We ordered the regular andagi, sweet potato mochi, and a couple of bentos. The bentos were okay; nothing really special about them. The sweet potato mochi was good but a little too chewy for my taste. We took the regular andagi home and heated it up in the air fryer and it was delicious. Nice and light texture. So even though some of the stuff was okay in my opinion we really went there for the andagi and they deserve a 5 star rating.

Terry V.

Yelp
Ordered large quantity of andagi day before. Picked up at opening and they were ready and waiting for me. Made fresh! They were super appreciative of our patronage. You can tell that they make their food with love! We only ordered the andagi but would totally try other items they offer in the future.

Klemens T.

Yelp
Came here for the first time because my wife was craving for some andagi. We ordered 1/2 dozen andagis and 1/2 dozen fried mochi. The mochi was very bland and the andagi was delicious, but I wish it was a bit more sweeter. They also sell some yummy looking small to large bentos, but I haven't tried any. At least I know they cater bentos now so I'll be back to sample their bentos. The staff is fast and friendly. This place is hole-in-the-wall is located just past Aunty Pastos and has no place to dine in. They only have metered street parking and if you miss it them you either go all the way around again or park in the Walgreens parking lot and cross the street.

Akemi O.

Yelp
I always think to go but I hate the parking situation on Pensacola. But since someone else picked up, I was all for it. Shrimp Roll Bento. Perfect size. Full but not stuffed. Everything tasty. Liked whatever veggie was there with the nasubi. Maybe a hasu-y type texture? Whatever but it was my fave part of the whole bento. My 5th star is in my pocket because everything was so oily. Granted most of it is fried, but even the container was oily. Would that stop me from going back? Naaaw, but need a cup of hot tea...or big beers to go with it.

Steve T.

Yelp
Good little bento shop. Parking can be hard islf street parking. Most park across the street at the bank just don't stay long grab n go. Bentos were good just the right amount for us and price is very reasonable Garlic chicken roll bento and chicken karaage was the 2 we got. Rice was really good rice. Love the piece eggplant that was simmered. Also got some andagi and taro mochi as well. Really good not overly sweet like some other places we go

Calvin Y.

Yelp
The best bento on the island! Whenever I'm out this way I usually get two. Each of the dishes is flavorful and beautiful! The vegetable bento is my all time favorite bento and the portions are generous. The quality is unmatched and they're incredibly consistent. Be wary of the limited operating hours. I've definitely come when they weren't open. I always come whenever I'm visiting from the mainland. A must for family run delicious local food.

Tad N.

Yelp
Been stopping by off and on for a couple of years now... food is Always tasty and of good, fresh quality. Prices are very reasonable and Albert, who usually staffs the front is most polite and appreciative of your business, big or small. Most recently, garlic chicken and their sushi roll bento were enjoyed by work colleagues, as well as the fresh, warm andagi. What a treat! Go before the lunch rush for best street parking.

Alice N.

Yelp
Delicious bentos so fast and easy to go! Service with a smile even with mask I could tell the guy was happy to help me. I picked 4 bentos, 3 Andagi 3 poi Mochi (one free with Yelp check in) and don't forget the side order of tofu patties, thank you for the great care of making the okazuya (Japanese side dishes) and main course was delicious. Loved and ate everything. Super happy with the prices and quality of food. Will be back when in town and next picnic to go food, easy and good.

Corina Q.

Yelp
Delicious bentos and adagis for a reasonable price! I never thought I could get adagi outside of the Okinawan Festival that happens once a year, so I was stoked to find these delicious fried okinawan snacks here at only $1 per andagi! I tried the Garlic Chicken Roll Set ($6.95) and my friend got the Vegetable Bento ($7.50) along with 5 andagi ($1 each). The Garlic Chicken Roll was delicious - nicely marinated and fried garlic chicken wrapped in rice and nori, along with two pieces of mochiko chicken, an AMAZING tofu patty, and eggplant/daikon sides. The andagi was very fresh and warm too with a crisp outside.

Alice L.

Yelp
Amazing bentos to go! Bentos are ready, so it's an easy place to stop by and just pick up something on the way. Vegetarian bento had 8 dishes with rice. We also had both the garlic chicken roll and the karaage bentos. The garlic chicken roll was our favorite -- had an amazing garlic sauce that made the dish!! Also had the sweet potato mochi which was also delicious as well --- didn't taste oily at all. No seating, just pick it up and find a park or beach to eat at!

Fran C.

Yelp
My friends at "The Bus" really know da good kine grindages joints. When I visit my friends at "The Bus" to go there to do service, all I can talk about with da guys is food! My friend - Bruddah Darryl who works at "The Bus" had repeatedly asked me in the past if I had eaten at this joint called - Teruya's Andagi on Pensacola Street, right across the street from the First Hawaiian Bank in Maikiki. Bruddah Darryl, I can finally report to you............"YES" I have! Lol! This past Monday was a holiday (President's Day), but unfortunately for me, it was just another regular work day for me. On the bright side, luckily for me I was able to meet up with my good friends - Sharon H. & Cathy I. for a belated birthday lunch, and Von's KFC was da place of choice! Guess whose idea it was???? Buwahahahahaha! Anyways, how did Teruya's get into my story? Well, Teruya's Andagi is just next door to Vons Korean Frrrrrrried Chicken, and my good friend Sharon H. was nice enough to go next door to pick me up some Sweet Potato Mochi, & a Vegetable Bento to share. What can I say about the Vegetable Bento & Sweet Potato Mochi? Honestly, it was hard to concentrate on a vegetable bento, & sweet potato mochi when you got boo-koo plates of piping hot Korean Frrrrrried Chicken, Mandoo, & Korean Rice Cakes in front of you! DAS WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT!!!!!!!!!! Lol! But in reality, my mama did say I should eat my vegetables, and to try new things, so I earnestly tried eat a few items off of that vegetable bento, and I surely ate da Andagi, as well as a Sweet Potato Mochi. The Sweet Potato Mochi was fabulous! If you're into mochi & deep frrrrrried..........you got a winnah's here! Andagi? It wasn't oily at all............but overall if you got it straight outtah da fryer, garans da buggah would taste moa' bettah! The Vegetable Bento..........I ate a few items off of the bento, but when your other hand is working, & holding a Korean fried chicken wing.........honestly, I really didn't know what I was eating from that bento! Lol! Guess I'll have to come back here real soon to sample just a bento, so I can clearly concentrate on what I'm supposed to say about this place. I will also have to remember not to sneak next door, but you know how that goes for Bruddah Fran & his frrrrrrried chicken! Buwahahahahaha!
