"Located in a residential neighborhood and adjacent to Arthur Storey park, Teo Chew Buddhist temple is sure to provide an incredible experience. The architecture is absolutely breathtaking as is the craftsmanship of the sculptures and paintings. Incense is always burning in large pots outside of the temple so the air smells calming and fragrant." - ph Design Shop

Teo Chew Temple in Houston’s Chinatown is a spiritually powerful and culturally rich landmark. It’s beautifully built, with intricate architecture that feels both peaceful and deeply rooted in tradition. Everything about it feels legit and spiritually grounded—from the detailed carvings to the incense-filled prayer halls. Whether you’re coming to pray, pay respects, or just take in the atmosphere, it offers a calm, reflective space in the middle of the city. Truly a meaningful place that holds strong cultural and spiritual value. A must-visit if you’re in Chinatown.

Beautiful and serene temple. They were extremely welcoming to a bunch of tourists. It was empty when we were there except for two temple workers. There's even a QR code by the door that you can scan for information about the temple..

I visited the Teo Chew Temple at 10600 Turtlewood Ct, Houston, TX, on a Saturday for the Chinese New Year celebration. The experience was wonderful. There was plenty of parking, which made the visit hassle-free. The temple itself is beautiful and peaceful, offering a serene atmosphere to reflect and pray. I had the opportunity to light incense and make a donation. The entire experience felt both spiritual and welcoming. I highly recommend visiting this temple if you’re looking for a place to celebrate cultural traditions or simply find a moment of peace.

There is plenty of parking during the weekday. I would imagine parking would be very difficult on special occasion weekends and major lunar holidays, especially Chinese New Years. The temple is well maintained and very peaceful when you enter the main hall.

This temple was very quiet and relaxing. It is open to the public, but they still request that masks be worn, so please be respectful. Being able to walk around and take in the art and sculptures was a humbling experience. If I were to critique anything it's the men's bathroom. It just isn't maintained very well and needs some TLC.

Teo Chew Temple holds a special place in my heart, particularly during the Chinese Lunar New Year celebration. Each year, millions of people gather at this sacred space for a vibrant and festive experience. The anticipation for the first ascent to the temple ferry creates an electric atmosphere, setting the stage for a memorable celebration. The highlight of the festivities includes the captivating lion dance celebration and the display of various deities. The temple becomes a hub of cultural richness, enveloping visitors in the spirit of the Chinese New Year. It's not just a celebration; it's a profound experience that allows for moments of peace, prayer, and reflection. Teo Chew Temple exudes comfort and solace, making it a comforting place for those seeking spiritual connection. Amidst the crowd, the temple provides a sanctuary to find inner peace and offer prayers. Witnessing the diverse array of deity displays adds a unique dimension to the spiritual journey, creating a sense of reverence and awe. For me, visiting Teo Chew Temple is more than a religious practice; it's a reminder of the importance of respect for higher powers and the pursuit of goodness. The act of prayer and reflection in this serene setting encourages introspection and a reevaluation of life's meaning. In essence, Teo Chew Temple is a remarkable place to pray, find comfort, and contemplate the deeper aspects of life. It stands as a beacon of tradition, spirituality, and community, making each visit a meaningful and enriching experience.

Beautiful, well-preserved temple. The fountain at the entrance has the statues of all Chinese zodiac signs in marble. The temple feels so peaceful inside.

Welcoming, informative and beautiful The temple maintains an open door policy as everybody is welcomed. Be respectful and wear clothes that is you would wear to church, mosque or other place of worship. Went there on a blue bird day and caught the lion dance troop practicing, which was a bonus. You can walk in and pray with incense/joss stick for free, but I drop in a donation to help them maintain it for free. Overall, a cultural benefit for Houston and its community
