Tempura Motoyoshi Matoba

Amazing restaurant. The service was exceptional the food was delicious. If you thought tempura was 1 dimensional.. think again. We visited 6 Michelin stars this trip in Japan (including 2 & 3’s) and this was the only one we would revisit. It was also the cheapest. We were even given a goodie bag of high grade beautiful chop sticks and traditional Japanese cloth table mats when we left. The decor and ceramic table ware were the best we saw the whole trip, beautiful! Chefs were fine sorts and spoke pretty good Janglish. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

We went in 2016. Incredible quality in a great romantic setting. Attention to detail, a great expression of the Japanese way. Going back again soon. Came back in 2023.

I have been coming here for more than five years. Definitely the best tempura I have tried in the world. The menu changes according to the season. The chef is very dedicated with his food and knows really well of the ingredients that he is serving. Even with the huge success of the restaurant, he continues to improve the food, the cooking technique and the overall experience of the restaurant. This is my favorite restaurant in Japan and

I was very impressed with Motoyoshi tempura. The best tempura ever!! Also, the atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy, comfortable, happy and great!! Motoyoshi san is very friendly and kind. I highly recommend his tempura!!

Absolutely loved our Omakase dinner, the fried uni on a Shiso leaf was sublime.... Crispy crunchy on the outside and lovely gooey center.
