Tartine's Inner Sunset location is a bright, modern gem near Golden Gate Park, serving up iconic pastries, savory sandwiches, and a cozy vibe perfect for brunch.
"Tartine Inner Sunset is quite similar to its sibling Tartine Bakery, but like most younger siblings, it’s showing off. This location is bigger, brighter, modern, and minimalist-cool without trying. As for the menu, it’s mostly the same with a few unique food items like a breakfast sandwich on a soft sweet potato bun with a fluffy scrambled egg. The iconic country loaf is indistinguishable from the one in the Mission, but we have noticed that the pastries suffer from more quality control issues here—the top crispy layer of our pain au chocolat fell off with the lightest touch. Still, next time you’re around Golden Gate Park, stop by to grab a morning bun before heading in for a picture-perfect picnic. photo credit: Ricky Rodriguez" - Ricky Rodriguez
"In case you’ve already strayed from the race course, or the alcohol is maybe starting to catch up with you, you have full permission to dip into the Inner Sunset to load up on carbs or sweets from this outpost of Tartine. Expect many of the same Tartine favorites at this spot, from bread to (again, portable) pastries like the morning bun or a cookie if you’re looking to head back into the race. There’s also larger items, such as salads and sandwiches, in case you want a lengthier break. Food is also available to pre-order, in case you are trying to make this a very brief stop." - Dianne de Guzman, Caleb Pershan
"It was incredible working there, a real treat, and I was there maybe eight months before the pandemic hit." - Lauren Saria
"Going to San Francisco and not getting a buttery, cinnamon-scented morning bun at Tartine is like going to Venice and not seeing a canal. The lines at the original flagship are legendary, but thankfully a new SF location has just opened in the Inner Sunset neighborhood. Liz Prueitt and Chad Robertson’s bread is iconic—and yes, we realize we just called bread iconic, but we stand by it. (The secret sauce is in the heritage grains and fermentation…we think.) And so breakfast of smoked salmon, pickled onions, and cream cheese smeared on a slice of crisp toast is only logical. Fill a paper bag with Tartine’s outrageously chewy chocolate cookies, flaky croissants, and light-as-air muffins for later. You won’t be sorry."
