At South Philly's Taqueria La Prima, indulge in epic late-night tacos like al pastor and carne asada while catching emotional telenovelas in a cozy spot.
"South Philly’s Taqueria La Prima is a small taco shop with only a handful of seats. And since it’s one of the more popular places in Little Saigon, the only thing you’ll hear in line—outside of a stranger’s weekend plans—is the sound of the grill preparing 3,000 orders. The scent of sizzling onions and peppers may sway you, but the best tacos to get here are the al pastor, carne asada, or pollo. We’re not sure which sorcery is involved in making them crispy and perfectly seasoned, but we applaud (or raise our wands to) it. " - alison kessler, candis mclean
"South Philly’s Taqueria La Prima stays open until 4 am daily, and they make some of our favorite tacos in town. Order ahead to avoid a line of people getting off the graveyard shift and talking sh*t about their boss' body odor. Our go-to usually includes al pastor, carne asada, or pollo, all of which taste even better after a fun night out or when you’re so sleepy you couldn’t possibly operate a knife and a fork. "While you wait for the best tacos in town you’ll be sucked into the emotional dramas flickering on the screen in the corner as the telenovelas play all day long. Open super late for that post bar hungry crawl home." - P'unk Avenue

"This tiny taqueria in the Italian Market has done wonders for Philly’s restaurant workers and others who get off the clock late and need tasty tacos after a shift. Arrive by 3 a.m. and you can order your fill of them. (Note that this used to be named Prima Pizza Taqueria Mexicana. It doesn’t serve pizza.)" - Carolyn Desalu, Sarah Maiellano, Rachel Vigoda
