Tamarind Village

Amazing location right in the city square. So many close bars and restaurants, and temples. The resort is very calm and has a traditional Chinese feel to it. The breakfast was good with quite a few choices. The staff were very kind and helpful. Many cats live on the property and do a bit of howling like roosters but we didn’t mind. The walls between rooms are very thin so it is not the most private. Lots of good markets and things to visit. I would recommend but perhaps only for a few days. Chiang Mai is a beautiful place and has the big city vibe but also very serene and relaxed.

What a fantastic hotel and with great culture , great food, great hospitality, just perfect. The location is amazing with access to everything within walking distance. The food was incredible. Their spa is a must must visit and take a treatment here for sure. The rooms are quaint and love the sustainability concept. Really good hotel , would recommend to stay here and experience this hotel.

A lovely hotel and very well situated. We did the free walking tour offered by the hotel and I can recommend that. Breakfast provided a variety of options and we ate beside the pool every day. The Sunday evening market is right outside the hotel and is amazing as it seems to stretch in every direction for miles (probably an exaggeration) but it is huge. A quaint hotel in the middle of this amazing city. All the staff were lovely and very attentive. Would thoroughly recommend it.

We stayed here for 4 nights on our honeymoon and had a lovely time. We received the warmest welcome here during our entire stay in Thailand and the staff were incredibly helpful. ||The hotel is very central and you can walk anywhere. We arrived on a Sunday and the huge night market was immediately outside the hotel - this is a must visit as the street food is super affordable and tasty. We have also never seen a night market as big as this! ||Included in our package was a complimentary spa treatment - the spa was amazing and very relaxing. ||We ate at the restaurant one night and the food was lovely - very reasonable prices too. ||Excursions - we visited sticky waterfalls (very fun), had a private tour of Doi inthanon national park (make sure you do a private tour so you can do more in the park on the day as it is huge, we also got taken to less busy places), a cooking class (this was very fun and around £20 pp including transport to and from the cooking school). Also visit the temples on an organised walk to learn more about Thai culture. ||The only slightly annoying part of the room was that it was quite dark (even with all lights on), I think this is because of the traditional Thai feel to the hotel so it wasn’t a problem, but it was maybe a little tricky to get ready in the evening.||We would love to stay at the Tamarind again. We loved our time at the Tamarind, short as it was - we were there over Christmas and the gala dinner on Christmas Eve was magical - the staff worked so hard to make the place look beautiful with lanterns in the pool and under the tamarind tree. The food was plentiful and delicious and the musical entertainment a bonus. ||The location of the hotel was perfect, and despite being in the old town, was a lovely oasis of calm. The rooms were beautiful and clean, the staff really helpful (especially when I had to take two teens to hospital) and we really enjoyed our stay - it was the best of the 5 that we stayed in whilst we were in Thailand.||The pool was a bit awkward to use as there aren't a huge number of loungers and they are close together, but we were barely at the hotel as there is so much to explore in and around it, so it wasn't a big deal for us, but may be if that's your 'thing'.

An oasis of calm and tranquility in the centre of the old city. The staff are extremely friendly and courteous and the building is so charming. Excellent breakfast overlooking the attractive pool. Perfect location. Highly recommend As a footnote the WiFi is superb.

An oasis in the centre of the city. We arrived and our welcome was perfect. Refreshing drinks and towels were offered to us, and our bags were taken to our room immediately. The staff were extremely polite and friendly and took the time to show us around the grounds and to our room where they explained all the features. The hotel itself is beautiful, with traditional features, lots of plants and candles everywhere. The pool is big enough and very serene. Restaurant serves superb food all day, albeit at hotel prices which is to be expected. I cannot recommend this hotel enough to anyone who wants access to all Chiang Mai has to offer and wants a relaxing place to retreat to when they need to relax. Oh and definitely make sure you have a massage, and take advantage of the complimentary village walk!

Tamarind village was highly recommended by a Thai friend. The rooms are arrayed in 2 storey buildings around courtyards in a traditional style designed by a notable local architect. The rooms are tasteful but not lavish. The pool is quiet and the breakfast is served on poolside each morning. The staff are very attentive and welcoming. One problem we had in the first night we could hear neighbors in the next door room. The staff kindly moved us to a new room the next day that was much quieter and didn’t have this problem . But I recommend the hotel fix this problem in the rooms that have poor sound insulation.
