"A Bit of Budapest in Berlin One of Budapest's legendary "ruin" bars, Szimpla has a cafe & bar in the heart of Berlin 's coolest neighborhood. On a corner of Boxhagener Platz (popular for its weekend markets), the Szimpla cafe offers brunches and a lively atmosphere in the early evening. It's one of my favorite cafes in Friedrichshain and thanks to a recent expansion, there's now plenty of tables and cozy couches to enjoy a relaxed night out. Things only get messy when you overindulge in the Hungarian alcoholic specialty, Pálinka (a very potent fruit-flavored brandy)."

The food and coffee are definitely tasty and both waitresses were lovely, but I have to take off a star for the tiny portion size. 7.50 for a vegetarian breakfast platter without any included drink is just not a good deal. (Also served on a small plate to make it seem like more is on there...)

Nice atmosphere. Good coffee. There are many other drink options including house made fresh lemonade. Brunch portion is pretty small. Vegetarian and vegan menus available.

Very nice bar, sometimes the service is a bit slow (specially on Sunday for breakfast) but cakes are superb! They also have free WiFi and plenty of space to work if needed. They are open later than other cafes in the area. It worth a visit! ;)

Nice cafe, a little bit too "decorated" for me, but espresso was fine, they have WiFi and plenty of space to work or get lost in a corner. They are open later than other cafes in the area so no complaints really.

I just love Szimpla, probably my favourite cafe/bar in Berlin. And it just got even better when they renovated and opened "the Lab" with loads of great craft beer. If you like IPA, i really would recommend "liquid cocain" if they have it. But to be warned, it's strong! Ca. 9% if I'm right.

good selection of craft beers on tap. bartender knows his beers, can honestly recommend based on your taste. friendly tasting before choosing 0,2cl, 0,3 or 0,5cl
