The cupcakes are absolutely delish! Perfect balance of chocolaty goodness and sweetness. The icing was also extremely good… just nice in sweetness. Doesn’t give you a sugar headache. Communication with Pina was so prompt and fuss free. I am definitely getting more cakes from this bake shop for my other celebrations! I highly recommend this shop to others! (Note: I added the embellishments to suit our party theme, cupcakes came with yellow/blue sprinkles)

I ordered the vanilla buttercream & strawberry cake , it was super fresh extremely delicious, and look forward to having more for breakfast this morning with my coffee lol. I also ordered 4 lemon tarts & they were absolutely delicious. Pick up was a breeze & Pina was super sweet and really kind to my dog upon pick up. I look forward to ordering other baked goods along with other cake flavours.

Heard about this cute little bakery from a friend and let me tell you from the first bite into one of the cupcakes I was in heaven….. a melt in your mouth experience so moist, the icing is so yummy and not too sweet. Have tried the squares and pies as well and her pie crust is like my grandmothers so perfect and flaky. A few years ago we got our wedding cupcakes from Sweet Serendipity, so when it came time for my daughter's birthday I was so pleased I could get these mini cupcakes done. The whole process was so easy - a quick email and EMT to order, then a truly contactless pickup (very grateful for this as I have a newborn at home and we're in yet another Covid wave). Of course the cupcakes are so delicious - not too sweet, perfectly moist with the perfectly dense icing in the perfect icing to cupcake ratio. You really can't go wrong ordering from here.

She makes the most delicious baked goods, she is consistent and reasonable priced (which is rare to find these days!). She uses REAL BUTTER, REAL INGREDIENTS! None of this artificial sweeteners and processed oil. Sweet Serendipity is the best place to get your sweet fix! We ordered a birthday cake for hubby here. Was great! There was an online form. Just filled it out and they emailed back. Once finalized, you simply prepay through Interact. On the day, I went and picked it up. It's all managed outside. She comes to the door and you give your name. They bring the order out and put on a table by the door to verify. You acknowledge - and step back. She seals it up and then she steps back and you grab it and go. Easy least. Awesome cake btw. Lovely dense and easy to cut even in small slices. Quality plus! Totally recommend!

Ordered 72 mini-cupcakes, which were decorated with beautiful care and packaged well - this was appreciated. Moist and flavourful, with the perfect icing tanginess: WOW! Thanks Pina :)

Decided to take a chance and order a cake/cupcakes for a party. WOW! I was so pleased with my vanilla cake with strawberry butter cream, and assorted cupcake flavours. The cake was so moist, and icing was excellent. I had so many compliments from my guests! I can't wait to order again :)

I stumbled upon this bakery as I was in the area and needed to get dessert for a dinner. The first time I was in, I ordered 6 cupcakes of different flavours. The cupcakes were amazing! So moist, not overly sweet or dense, and absolutely delicious! The vanilla was my favourite with the carrot cake a close second. Since then, I went back a second time to try the squares. They are crunchy on the bottom with a cheesecake-y like consistency on top. Loved the way they tasted and their texture. The tiramisu flavour was my favourite. Will definitely be back for more treats!

Ordered the pumpkin pie for thanksgiving and it was delicious. The crust was flaky and filling perfect. Not too sweet. The family devoured it. lol It was the first time visiting the shop and the the owner was so nice and friendly. I will definitely be back to try their other sweets.

Walking past after my morning grab and go coffee at Red Rocket, I decided to step into Sweet Serendipity Bake shop eventhough its been open for about a year now. I'm glad I did, there's a great variety of made from scratch jam, balsamic vinegar, cakes, cookies and all kinds of sweet treats. As a first time try, I bought their wild berry scones and carrot cake. Taste good and not too sweet (which I liked).They also do make pre-order custom cakes. A great addition to the Danforth neighbourhood.

I have pretty high standards when it comes to bakeries and this one definitely got me to go back for more. This bakery is smaller than the usual and not much space to sit and eat. First and foremost I'm always greeted with warm welcome aleverytime I enter, secondly they sell more than just sweet desserts! There are several variety of homemade confitures (jams and spreads) which are not just organic but flavours that you cannot find in any grocery store. On my last visit I bought a vanilla bean cupcake, a carrot cake and a blueberry scone. All three was taken to go however, not even a single crumb of the blueberry scone made it home.. it was too good, soft and not too sweet. I am a vanilla bias and so I ate the carrot cake first which was devoured in seconds.. by me and my siblings (the portion sizes are quite big). Then lo and behold the vanilla bean cupcake was so rich and moist with the perfect buttercream icing. I can actually taste the real vanilla bits that the baker used. I will most definitely return and also recommend to all ya'll wonderful people who crave a good quality dessert!

I really felt this bake shop wasn't worth the hype. There were five flavours of cupcake and we got them all to sample between three people. They were good, but not phenomenal. Would I return for them? No. Besides the cupcakes, there was probably four other baked goods to choose from. The selection was very limited. Food aside, the store was very neat and had space to move. Unfortunately, the woman who was running the store gave subpar service - she acted like we were an annoyance by being there and there were no other customers to be found, which turned us right off. Based on her attitude alone I wouldn't return.

I tried this bakeshop for a work event. We typically purchase cupcakes for special events from a particular bakeshop in the west end of Toronto, as a tradition. Staff loved these more. I would recommend this bakeshop and will visit again.

This is officially my favourite birthday cake shop in the city. If you are looking for a real birthday cake style - not a firm/dense wedding cake - not greasy buttercream frosting... But a tender, moist crumb and delicious flavour with great icing, this is your place. Order ahead for special cake flavours and icing/cake combinations. My fave is chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting - get a single layer if it's just you and your partner eating it on a friday night in front of the telly or a proper double layer cake for a birthday party. The vanilla bean cupcake with vanilla icing is out of this world. Cannot recommend enough for cake!

My wife ordered 36 cupcakes from here for a unisex baby shower we had hosted with and for friends. The cupcakes were out of this world amazing. So fresh, moist, light and delicious. I think we found them to be slightly on the expensive side - but well worth the money. Special care is obviously taken in baking, decorating and even packaging the cupcakes. I gave them four stars though because.... I grabbed a small coffee on our way out the door with our order and it was magnificent too, but the girl behind the counter had blown on the coffee grounds after grinding them. I suppose this was to ensure no grounds got in my coffee during brewing but it wasn't very professional. Perhaps a one off. I'd go back to them is the final review. They seem great overall :)

I look forward to picking up all the baked goods at this wonderful little spot on the Danforth. Blueberry scones, cinnamon buns, vanilla bean cupcakes, butter tarts and delicious cappachinos - YUM. I could go on forever. Pina is a joy and the best baker ever. My101 yr. old Mom says the pastry reminds her of what she used to make - and trust me that's a real compliment. Wendi Murphy

Ordered a dozen cupcakes for a party with various flavors and they did look fantastic. Sadly though they were too heavy and dense for my liking. Maybe because it was gluten free? They were on the dry side, frosting was too sweet, not memorable. The container was not suited to hold cupcakes, a few were squished, so that was a little disappointing as well. For the premium cost I would go elsewhere for cupcakes. Update: The packaging comment was for another place so I have updated my rating. To clarify, I wasn't sure if it was or was not gluten free, trying to find reasons why it was a little on the heavy side.

My go to place for cupcakes and simple cakes. Their cakes are so moist, flavourful and their icing is the only one I'll ever eat. Give them your business! They're so affordable and the workers are so nice you can't go wrong.

I love this place. Not just for their awesomely delicious baked goods but also for the charm and vibrancy they bring to the neighbourhood. When you walk into Sweet Serendipity you're immediately welcomed by Stacy or Pina, both of whom are incredibly friendly and helpful. The selection of baked goods is just right for a bake shop of its size and offers good variety. On any given day they typically carry a few flavours of cupcakes (vanilla, red velvet, etc.), several varieties of squares (pecan, lemon, chocolate berry cheesecake, brownies, blueberry oatmeal, etc.), 3-4 types of cookies (cranberry oatmeal, chocolate chip, peanut butter and chocolate chunk shortbread), butter tarts, cakes (red velvet, carrot cake) and of course Pina's signature biscotti. On weekends they carry bread from St. John's, rustic pear tarts and scrumptious scones (blueberry and "cinnamon bun"). My personal favourites are the scones, pear tart (the pastry is light and perfect), butter tarts and blueberry oatmeal squares. I love that nothing is too sickly sweet, though I will note that the pecan squares are a little heavy on the vanilla for my tastes. I love their carrot cake, which I'm usually not a fan of from other places. For just $12 one of their "mini cakes" is just the right size to take to a dinner party. They also take custom orders for parties. The space itself is beautiful with its wood floors and exposed brick. There's an espresso machine too, so you can get a latte, cappuccino, americano (or whatever your coffee fancy) with your treat. They've got tea too! Keep up the good work Sweet Serendipity!

Ordered a birthday cake from them with a slight customization. The cake was ready on time and most of us agreed it was one of the best red velvet cakes we've ever tasted! Fresh and natural tasting, I'll be sure to order again!

We had the cupcakes are they were delicious! Vanilla with buttercream and chocolate with chocolate cream cheese icing. I'm so glad that there is a great place to get cupcakes and sweets in the danforth east. The lady working the counter is also very friendly :) Cookie update: The chocolate chip cookie is good, but needs a bit more--not sure what though. I personally enjoy the chocolate chip cookie at Red Rocket (across the street).

Stopped in on a sunny Saturday as we were having brunch across the street. I found out that everything is made there fresh and from scratch. We tried a cinnamon role scone and a butter tart. Both were incredible and you can absolutely tell they were fresh and properly made. So flaky, light and perfect. I will absolutely be back. What a great find. They made me a latte to go to have with my scone. I highly recommend it.

Fantastic shop for treats. Still buy goodies from here even though we moved across town. BEST Butter Tarts anywhere. Personal service, reduced sugar and fresh ingredients make this a standout location in the gta.

My 5-star rating for Sweet Serendipity is based on two separate and wonderful experiences with their treats (so far)! I love that they use simple and fresh ingredients and it really shows in the great homemade taste that their baked goods have. A plus is that they don't overload their treats with sugar like a lot of other places. #1 - Introduction to Sweet Serendipity I was first introduced to this bakery by friends who brought over a mini carrot cake for a dinner party. Since we already had another dessert ready I didn't dig into the cake until the next day, and wow, was I ever blown away by how tasty it was! This is by far the tastiest carrot cake I think I can buy in Toronto. The mini carrot cake was not too sweet (how I like it) with just enough cream cheese frosting on the top in a pretty flower pattern. The side of the cake is sealed by cardboard lining so the cake stays nice and moist until you serve it. I have to admit that I was not *that* disappointed that it didn't end up getting served at the dinner party! #2 - First in-person visit About a month after, I was hit with a major cupcake craving and remembered that I have been meaning to pay Sweet Serendipity a visit. I was hoping that their delicious carrot cake came in cupcake form because I also wanted to try some other flavours. No such luck on the carrot cake cupcake (though the mini cake was available), but the other cupcake flavours were amazing and totally made up for it. I picked up half a dozen cupcakes to share (no tax on 6+ cupcakes). Flavours we had were: strawberry with strawberry icing, lemon with raspberry cream cheese icing, chocolate, and red velvet. All were fantastic but I though the strawberry was a standout with fresh strawberry bits in the cake and icing - tasted exactly like summer! I also picked up a couple of cinnamon bun scones (weekend special only I think) which tasted amazing plain at room temperature. Special shoutout to my friends who brought over the mini carrot cake - I would not have known about Sweet Serendipity (how appropriate!) otherwise. I don't live in the neighbourhood but Sweet Serendipity is totally worth going out of your way to visit! I will definitely be going back to try their squares and cookies which also looked yummy. Also, the next time I need a birthday cake or cupcakes for a party, I'm totally giving Sweet Serendipity a call.

We ordered a large vanilla bean cake with a butter cream frosting and rosettes for my Mother's 90th birthday. Pina, the owner, was wonderful to work with. The cake was exactly as she described. It was delicious ! It melted in your mouth with each bite and the vanilla flavor was pure & not too sweet - perfect ! She uses all fresh natural ingredients. We highly recommend this bakery. Update: We have continued to order goods from here. Always perfect ! A great find !

Ordered a strawberry cream cheese layer cake for my brother's birthday. It was one of the most incredible cakes I have had. This is not a strawberry shortcake type of dessert but one where the icing has bits of fragrant strawberries. I'm glad that my brother doesn't care about the appearance of the cake as this was definitely a very girlish looking pink cake. The most important thing is that the cake is flavoured with real berries. I was late in picking up the cake and the owner called, worried that I had forgotten. When I finally got there 30 minutes before closing, she was still as congenial as she probably was when she opened that morning. I am delighted to support a local business. The bakery is located on Danforth, just east of Greenwood. Her prices are competitive given the quality of her ingredients and the obvious love that she puts into her work. I also left with her last butter tart of the day. Will certainly be back.

Majorly disappointed with the service I received in the store today. I walked in to pick up 6 cupcakes and the lady behind the counter was annoyed that I wanted 6 of the 7 chocolate cupcakes she had in the display. She asked me to call ahead next time if I wanted that many(wtf???). I asked for 6 not 20. In between her annoyance she was somewhat apologetic. She said it had been a stressful day, etc. She then suggested I take the small chocolate cake. I told her I wanted cupcakes. I offered to take 2 vanilla and 4 chocolate instead but she said it was fine. I don't really understand what happened. I thought it was a good thing to have people buy you out of any of your baked goods. I let her know that it was my first time in the store after hearing so many good things about it and that it ended being a really shitty experience. She half heartedly apologized and I left. I wish I had left the cupcakes behind. Instead, I will take my business elsewhere.

Happy that they are here! I have tried the butter tarts, red velvet cupcakes, pecan squares and the lemon squares. All are really delicious. It is nice to have a bake shop in the hood. Will return over and over again. Staff is super friendly.

I ordered cupcakes from this bakery for my daughters first birthday and they were incredibly moist and delicious. The frosting was to die for. Everybody at the party was very impressed by the quality and yumminess! The owner and staff were very helpful with my order taking it only a few days before the party. We used Sweet Serendipity for our wedding cupcakes and Pina, the owner, completely blew our guests away! To prove just how delicious they were, we ordered 250 cupcakes for 170 guests, plus had a 10 inch carrot cake - not one cupcake or piece of cake was left at the end of the night. Multiple guests stated they were the best cupcakes they have ever had. Beyond her delicious baking, Pina is a genuine, caring person who really was so professional and amazing through the entire process. She invited us for a tasting and was very accommodating to our requests, and made sure the venue would put the cupcakes out at the right time to preserve the frosting. I know she makes many other amazing desserts, and her bake shop is definitely work the trip. If you have an upcoming wedding, you cannot go wrong with Sweet Serendipity.

I've tried a bunch of the "best cupcake" places listed on blog.to and they pale in comparison to these cupcakes. Seriously. So. Good. Not too sweet, the cake was perfectly crumbly and moist and there was just enough yummy icing. Loved it. You can tell they are good because you can see they run out of stuff and don't make too much in the first place so that you are sure it is fresh.

Just went there this week for the second time! Such a sweet older lady served me, cute English accent, so friendly, just what our neighbourhood needs. I hate chains because they are impersonal and rushed. This woman, Maureen, made me feel like she knew me and that was so nice after a difficult business meeting, she explained what they had, asked about my day, and made me and the other person in line feel special - we bumped into each other on the street after and were like "oh my gosh, wasn't she sooooooo lovely, I didn't want to leave". LOL The other person said she was a massive improvement for the shop as they'd almost given up on it because of previous staff, even though they live right around the corner and work less than a minute walk away! I told all my friends we need to go there, for the genuine local shop experience! I'd tried before but also had someone really unfriendly and almost rude. Rushed me in and out, no eye contact. If I want that, I'd go to a big chain, which is definitely not what I want. Totally different this time. Just shows you it all comes down to who you hire, they are the front of the shop. Anyway, loved it and the cupcake was super soft and yummy too! Also was in and out quickly, without being rushed which I hate, next time I'll probably eat in and get a coffee too. I may even have a business meeting there. There's a couple of little tables. Would be nice if there was some flowers or décor on them. Okay I want to go back just to see Maureen. Such a sweet lady! There seems to be a big turnover there, I hope Maureen stays! I almost wrote a review before and gave it 3/5, but thanks to the super yummy cupcake this week and the sweet lady serving, definitely 5/5! I'll be back!
