Absolutely! Love the desserts here. A little cozy inside environment as well to be able to sit down and have a nice chat. The service here is excellent as well in my opinion. I'd rather be here than Starbucks as it's freshly made in house and not too crowded. Definitely try all their cookies. They're fantastic ! The croissants go fast. Chocolate croissant is not my favorite but I'm sure to others it will be. The ham and cheese croissant is golden warmed up. Definitely stop by!

I purchased the Mother’s Day Triple Berry Cake and the flowers. The cake was so beautiful with decorations and the inside is so light, delicate and so yummy! I used it as my showstopper for Afternoon Tea. It was a hit and enjoyed by all. The flowers add that extra nice touch and smell.

This is the first time I've visited this location (Encino) in a few years. I stopped by yesterday (7/4) to pick up a slice of cherry pie. The price was about $12.95.. which I didn't think too much of it because the slices were generous in the past, at least at the Santa Monica location. I was really shocked to see the very small piece in the box once I got home. I love SLJ, been coming to them for 18+ years. I'm hoping this was just an oversight because the price doesn't seem right for the amount you get. On a side note, the pie was good not too sweet or tart.

I had a disappointing experience with the cheesecake at the SLJ in Encino. It can be frustrating when something you're looking forward to doesn't quite meet your expectations, especially when you have a specific idea of how it should taste and feel. Modern and clean environments with great service are definitely positives, but the texture and taste of food, especially something as beloved as cheesecake, can make or break an experience. I definitely hope there is an improvement as far as the cheese cake recepie. so i would stop by again.

I first tried the triple berry cake in 1989 at a dinner party, & immediately fell in love with it. This cake became my default birthday cake for many years, & a sweet treat throughout the year. Two friends chose it as their wedding cake. I gifted the cake for other birthdays & anniversaries. There was no comparison for literally decades. So I was broken hearted to hear that it was no more, & then thrilled to hear that Sweet Lady Jane had been purchased, along with all the recipes - including my favorite. But the triple berry cake I tried today is a beautiful impostor. The current cake is less sweet, with a finer & drier crumb. This is not my cake. The frosting is like a mixture of the light whipped texture I knew mixed with a heavier, fattier buttercream - and is also less sweet. This is not my frosting. The berries even are different - the raspberries are sour, which against very faintly sweet cake is not a proper balance. The strawberries in between the cake layers were sliced - which I had never seen in the past. These are not my berries. I came here to read other reviews & see if I was just losing my mind. Apparently I am NOT losing my mind, & I DO have accurate memories, because I am not alone in this opinion. Like another Yelper, I was wondering if the triple berry cake recipe the new owner was given was accurate. Is the processing different? The recipe? The suppliers? Is the frosting over stabilized so it stays fresh longer than the light whipped that they used to make? Whatever changes have happened, it is glaringly obvious that changes have occurred to those of us who have known this cake for many years! During the time that Sweet Lady Jane was closed, SusieCakes created a triple berry cake that although is not the cake I have loved since 1989, it is worlds better than this beautiful impostor. Denser & moister cake, sweet berries, lightly sweet whipped frosting. Since I see that the management's replies to other reviews say that they are using the same recipe as before, I guess I have to accept that my favorite triple berry cake is just a memory now. So sad.

It's been years since I have had anything from Sweet Lady Jane. Stopped here to pick up some pastries on a Sunday morning. Sticker shock at the prices, $12.95 for a piece of cake. Got a piece of coconut cake to go. It was not good. Cake was dry, filling between layers was tasteless, frosting was very artificial and cheap tasting. Cake seemed really old. You know it's old when the frosting shears away from the cake when you try to cut into it. A waste of money, won't be back. Should have stayed closed.

I went there this afternoon to get some sweet treats. No one was in the store. As I walked in, a male employee walked out of the restroom with black gloves on. He then proceeded to go behind the counter and try to serve me! He didn't change his gloves or anything. I was so disgusted, I left. As soon as I left, the male employee went back into the restroom. This was beyond disgusting because he is touching the desserts with gloves out of a bathroom!! Is he making them with those as well??

I don't get the hype. I ordered the triple berry cake. Cons: I prefer a smoother cake. This cake is crumbly and course. The cream looks like over whipped cream. At $12 a slice, it's just not worth it. Pro: Fresh fruit and not too sweet. Cute box that fits exactly one slice.

Service was great, no complaints there, but sadly, this is not the same Triple Berry Cake from the original SLJ! It's sweeter, drier, and the frosting now has buttercream mixed in--such a letdown. If you're craving something like the classic SLJ Triple Berry Cake, skip this one and head to Whole Foods for their Berry Chantilly Cake instead--it's much closer to the original!

I am devastated to say the plain croissant was so awful I gave it back for them to dispose of. The horrific aftertaste is still assaulting my taste buds. I am so sad as I used to come here every week for years. I was heartbroken when they closed and ecstatic when they reopened. However, this is the second or third time I tried the croissant and I literally can't wait to get home and rinse this lingering bad taste in my mouth away. Every cake is visually stunning as always. However, the pieces are smaller and the legendary berry cake is an imposter now. Always my first choice to celebrate someone's birthday I convinced my friend to bring the cake to her friend's 80th birthday. She said it looked beautiful but the whipped cream tasted flat and spoiled and they threw it away. The chocolate chip cookies are good on some days, dry and hard on others. The lemon tarts rather doughy. The staff seemed so excited upon reopening but each week I returned, everyone seemed sad instead of celebratory. This is heartbreaking.

Greeted kindly from the second I walked in! The lovely ladies working there today (Wednesday) late morning/early noon made my experience worth the drive! Drove from Santa Monica to get the celebration cake at this location for my mom's birthday. This cake used to be my absolute favorite and I have been eating it for a decade so I know what it's supposed to taste like. The texture of the TBC slice I got today was off, plus the raspberries were extremely sour. What a shame.

I wanted to buy a cheesecake for a friend's birthday, and found this page on Yelp as being close by. I assumed it would be an independent bakery, and wasn't expecting anything different. Turns out it's a 35 year old 7-store mini-chain that has a rabid fan following, including several celebrities. I got sticker shock when they told me that they had one the one size for the cheesecake, which is quite large, and that it would be $76! Despite the big price tag, I was driven by my need to appease the birthday person with something they would appreciate: cheesecake. So, I relented, and paid for the obviously very expensive cheesecake that didn't even have hidden gold or anything fancy inside it. However, the cheesecake was smooth and creamy, and my friends really relished its taste, so I have concluded it's actually worth the price tag. Not only that, I went the very next day to a 2nd location of this store and bought again!

Thank you, Lord, for saving Sweet Lady Jane. The three berry cake has been my favorite cake of all time since 1996 when I first had it. We even took one of the cakes to NYC back in 2003 and had a local cake maker use it as the basis for our wedding cake, since they don't have locations in NYC. That's how much I love this cake. I will say that the missus feels the cake has been a little crumbly the last couple of times. I don't know if dry is the right word as much as it's just crumbly. I don't notice a difference. I will say, however, that Sweet Lady Jane was never cheap. I found out about it because a huge Hollywood producer I worked for always got this cake for her private events. So, it's always been on the expensive side. I guess when the new owner saved the company and had to take on their lawsuits and debt from allegedly not paying staff, prices had to go up. At nearly $80 for a small cake for 4 people, that is A LOT! Makes it the kind of thing for special occasions only. I understand the need to raise prices to save this gem of a business, but you've out-priced the common man. Maybe when things stabilize and profits rise, they can lower prices, but when has that ever happened? So the cake gets 5 stars. The prices erased one star. Sorry. Still, that triple berry is my favorite cake of all time anywhere ever.

We ordered a variety of sweets from Sweet Lady Jane.... 2 cookies, scone, and a bar. Truth be told, we would not order any one of these again. They were on the dry side (as in, not fresh), and the flavor did not justify the prices of these items. I don't mind paying for a truly yummy treat, but don't sell me items that taste like they've been sitting in the case for days. We literally threw these out after tasting them. This means, that we threw away our money as well.

Went by today (9/12/24) and saw that a slice, a SLICE, of cake was 12.99. These people are absolutely crazy. They should be boycotted and run out of the area. Shame on you SLJ for ripping people off. Received a response from the owner saying the cost increases were due to expanding, etc. In essence, their increases have nothing to do with the quality of the product which has gone way down, (they serve frozen commercially made products with zero love and flavor which is worlds apart from the business model of the original owner). The prices have little to do with the quality of the products and are geared toward a high profit margin for below average merchandise. It's truly offensive that an individual cannot buy a slice of cake for under 12.99 (coconut cake) which uses ingredients that are not expensive. Perhaps that is why the place is always empty except for those with limited choices, other than Starbucks (which doesn't qualify as fit for consumption), or the owners are simply looking to gouge Encino area residents (as everyone else does) because they all think we are rich. Well, we may have worked hard to get where we are, but that doesn't mean that we should be taken advantage of by passing off tasteless, frozen, and expensive items as if they were somehow baked with love as they were in the past. The entire story line is sad. We live in a world where it's all about the money. Nothing else matters. But, it does matter and nothing will change until people stop playing along and speak up. Give people value for their money. It's not all about you and your money, it's about trying to find a delicious slice of cake to enjoy to take our minds off the evils of the world. Unfortunately, SLJ has a lot to learn.

A few months ago, a friend of mine got me the Dark Chocolate Cake from Sweet Lady Jane for my birthday. Not only was this cake beautiful but it was also amazing! The cake itself was moist with fluffy chocolate buttercream filling and topped with a decadent chocolate ganache and garnished with divine chocolate curls. It was incredibly delicious and, without a doubt, a chocolate lovers dream! I gave some to my mom and she immediately said that she wanted one for her birthday too. I was happy to have the opportunity to enjoy this delectably delicious dessert again. Ordering is simple and easy - either via their website or over the phone. The girl that took my order was friendly and helpful. She informed me that all pre-ordered cakes are ready for pick up at 10:00 a.m. the day of so I could come by anytime during store hours for pick up. The shop is clean and inviting with lots of yummy treats in the display case. There is ample seating inside and outside. It's located in an outdoor shopping center, so there are plenty of places to park. The cake was nicely boxed and the presentation was classy and elegant. It was a bit pricey ($60 for a 6 inch), but it was made with high quality ingredients. Everyone loved it, especially mom.

Picked up a preordered carrotcake from SLJ on a Saturday afternoon for a small dinner party. Ordering online the day before was seamless. Pick up the following day was relatively quick and definitely easy. SLJ is located in an outdoor shopping center with a large parking lot. Several spaces close to SLJ were open when I visited. The line inside was about 5 deep when I arrived. My wait to be pick up the cake was about 10 minutes. Service was friendly and efficient. The cake was nicely boxed and it's presentation was classy yet adorable. The cake was good but not great. It was slightly heavy and a touch dry. If you've never ordered from SLJ, I recommend the Triple Berry cake.

I was excited to see that Sweet Lady Jane reopened, I have been a fan for years. My favorite cake is the triple berry cake. However, the cake isn't the same texture and taste as it was before and also it was lacking in berries. Also, it didn't taste too fresh and the price point is 12.99 for a slice a bit pricey but not the same taste as before. I was disappointed, please bring back the old recipe for this cake.

I've been wanting to try their Triple Berry Cake for years now and now I have. Get this cake if you want to splurge on someone for their birthday or for an intimate gathering. I called to see if they can place a 6 inch triple berry cake on hold for 2 PM pickup. She sweetly gave directed me to their website to choose which cakes were "available now" to place the order. I accidentally placed the order for ASAP, so I called them to tell them I wouldn't be picking it up until 2 PM. Upon arriving, she even thanked me for calling and informing them of my mistake about the pick up time. I bought the cake for a work gathering and everyone loved it! My manager is even allergic to berries but she had two helpings and said she'll just take Benadryl and suffer the consequences later. The cake is moist, not overly sweet with just the right amount of fluffy cream to cake ratio. My only gripe is that price, $60 for a 6 inch cake, albeit it is a tall cake. I'll be back to try their other cake flavors which you can also get by the slice. They also have pies, cookies, brownies, pudding, cheesecakes and other goodies. Service was very sweet and helpful. Plenty of parking in a lot shared with CVS, Chase Bank, and a soon to be Amazon Fresh market.

This is the place to go for special occasions or if you really want to treat yourself. The Berry cake is by far my favorite followed by the chocolate cake! The staff at the Encino store are wonderful, always remember me, even if three months have past. They go out of their way to make you feel special. The ambiance is nothing to write home about, it's a store in a mall with a few tables if you want to enjoy a coffee and cupcake. If you are a cake snob which I am(former catering and wedding sales for a prestigious hotel) you will love Sweet Lacy Jane's

Pre-ordered a couple of cakes and the cakes were available for pick up at the agreed upon time, even though it's the day before Thanksgiving. It's not the cheapest cake around, but based on the taste of the frosting, I'm not surprised - it's totally worth it. RUSTIC BERRY CAKE turned out very well. VANILLA CREME CAKE with super yummy buttercream frosting that is the most kawaii shade of pink ever and has sprinkles.

I moved to the Lake Balboa area so this branch was finally easy for me to get to. This has been on my list for a while and the Triple Berry Cake did not disappoint! It's a fairly simple cake but they do very well - moist yellow cake with fluffy cream that is just sweet enough and fresh berries (layers of blueberries, Strawberries, and raspberries) that even my mom who hates fruit in desserts could appreciate. It's pricey at $60 but was plenty for the 4 of us over the course of 3-4 days. Also got a slice of the Triple Berry Cheesecake (good too, and has a layer of the cake cream on top), the pumpkin cheesecake (good but a bit too cinnamon-tasting), and a chocolate rugelach (on the drier side, would not get this again). If anyone else was wondering, there's no more of the military discount.

After trying a majority of their offerings, I've determined my list of favorites among their cakes (which is the most worthwhile bakery item genre here): Triple Berry Cake - there's a reason this is their most popular The Beverly Cake - perfect black & white balance Red Velvet Cake - exceptional, love the cream cheese frosting Chocolate Triple Berry - suggestion: add a layer of mixed berry jam cause the chocolate overpowers the fruit Carrot Cake - I've had better Flourless Chocolate Cake - too rich, i put some blueberries on top and it made it 10x better Dark Chocolate Cake - N/A - did not try Vanilla Creme Cake - N/A - did not try Out of their cheesecakes, I've only had their triple berry and that's really all I needed to assess that they have great cheesecakes. I would try the other flavors, but they do triple berry so right here. I've had none of the pies (the flavors didn't entice me). The pear almond tart had good flavor, but it wasn't my favorite. Out of the baked goods, I only had the bars and I enjoyed the Lemon Bar a lot more over the Date Bar. I've had better homemade lemon bars but this is pretty darn good for a bakery. Both the berrymisu jar & the pumpkin spice pudding were exceptional. I didn't even try the banana pudding cause Magnolia. Absent from their regular menu, I've also had their English trifle (basically like a deconstructed triple berry, not as good as the actual triple berry but still fantastic) and their flan (creamy!) Come here for the cakes & triple berry stuff....

The first time I had a slice of cake from Sweetie Lady Jane was in the 90's! I think at the time their only location was on Melrose Ave. Since then I visited the location countless times including a date with the woman I'd eventually marry. I haven't been back to the Melrose location in a long while and was floored when I was meeting with a friend in the Encino area and happened upon this SLJ location. I had to walk in and ask if this bakery was truly associated with the one on Melrose...they proceeded to tell a little about their expansion and recently history. I ended up buying a croissant and a lemon bar (which is what my wife and I ordered on our date) and took them home to share with my wife and tell her it's easier than ever to have a "Sweet Lady Jane" baked item. Other than that, the service was friendly and fast (after I finally decided what I wanted). This location is roomy and has a few tables to enjoy their pastries and cakes They also told me of their other location in Calabasas, which is closer to where I live. Got my sister's 50th birthday cake - milk and berries. So light fluffy and DEEEE-LI-SHUS!!! Lots of yummy pastries on display. Also got an iced coffee and a hot mocha. Wanted to try almost everything so we also got a sampler box filled with a little bit of everything in smaller portions. Super yummy! Totally recommend this bakery! If you're ever in need of a cake for a special occasion or just want to satisfy your sweet tooth, get it from Sweet Lady Jane's.

Seriously delicious cakes. Even my husband who doesn't care about cake loved the triple Berry. And my client loved the flourless chocolate cake I brought for her birthday. They are so professional, clean and nice. I love this place and will recommend (though I feel everyone already knows and loves this place). Perfect texture of cake, not too sweet or too heavy frosting and the perfect amount of berries. So so yummy! They have cakes ready, the best candles and write on the cake on the spot as well which is amazing when you need a cake last minute.

Amazing cakes, pastries and other sweets. The lemon bar has bits and pieces of lemon zest to give it that crunch in every bite. The chocolate walnut brownie is so rich but not overly sweet. The Tiramisu jar is perfect for that tiramisu lover in your life. Every bite is heaven and again not overly sweet. Just give them a try! So far I haven't had anything that I didn't like...

I first came in for a birthday cake. Delicious! The triple berry cake is my new favorite birthday cake. A 6" is about $60 so a bit on the pricey side. I think it's done so great, not too sweet and the berries are very fresh. The cake was big enough to feed 8 people and have leftovers. Earlier today, I was craving some chocolate and came in ordered the flourless chocolate cookie and the sea salt brownie. I preferred the cookie but the brownie wasn't bad at all. Together they were $7.

We had the most wonderful breakfast today at the Encino Sweet Lady Jane's, recently reopened. The food was impeccably prepared and beautifully served. The manger, Shivon makes everyone feel special and at home. We ate outdoors and really enjoyed the ambiance. The new owners are so nice. So glad this restaurant is here.

I want the new owner of this store to know that they weren't sold the accurate recipe for the triple berry cake. The whip cream on the cake is over-whipped to a butter-like consistency now and the cake has a different flavor to it. The cake slices I purchased weren't fresh as well. If you want to maintain Sweet Lady Jane's reputation, you'll have to bake and serve the cakes on a daily basis and restore the recipe back to its original form.

OMG!!! This bakery now has my absolute most favorite chocolate cake ever. First of all, I didn't read the directions on the box which said that we were supposed to let the cake sit out for a few hours so it can soften up or something like that. I didn't do that and ate the cake right after taking it out from the fridge. It had a very dense and creamy texture with a huge amount of chocolate richness. I like it so much better when eating it right after it comes out from the fridge...I don't recommend waiting a few hours for it to sit out because it ends up tasting like any other chocolate cake to me. I'd definitely come again to grab a whole cake for myself! It really is that delicious!

I've seen many posts about this place on Instagram and decided to give it a try.... and omg yall IT IS A MUST. I ordered their famous triple berry cake for my birthday and it has to be one of my favorite birthday cakes thus far. The few people I shared it with (yes, because I ate most of it duh) couldn't stop raving how delicious it was. I even stored it in my fridge a day before my birthday and the cake, berries, and cream all still tasted so fresh. When picking up the cake, the staff were all super chill, offered me free candles and the entire process was quick and easy despite COVID19. Thanks for the amazing cake Lady Jane, it was for sure sweet!!
