Sushi Ryo offers good value for a casual omakase experience in Ginza. While the quality is solid for the price, those seeking finer ingredients might prefer other options within a 10-minute drive at a similar cost. Great for a relaxed meal in an upscale area.

The Food was great. Love most of them. Surprisingly delicious. More toward the casual omakase. If you are looking for perfect service, this is not the place. English speaking staff. Can book online via pocket concierge. Staff called to postpone my reservation from 7pm to 8pm. So unprofessional of omakase restaurant. In the end we got our table at 7:30pm. Sake has no menu. 3,300 per serving. They also overcharged me for sake.

(Update) Visited again 2 years later and the experience was even better. The fish was very good and the chef served a very interested variety of courses. I ordered sake and was given several choices. I tried two and though both were excellent, including a nigori sake I had not had before that was superb. The chef clearly knows how to make good sushi. Had a fantastic meal in this traditional small Japanese sushi restaurant where you can see everything being made right in front of you. Highly recommend.

Went for dinner right after getting engaged and we loved it! Pushed our boundaries for new flavors and we would absolutely go back. Chef was kind and servers were helpful. For the price it is a very good omakase.

I enjoy exploring new sushi places and have visited various locations in New York and Japan. For my 2023 Christmas in Tokyo, I chose Sushi Ryo - because it was the only place where I could reserve online – you know if you don’t speak Japanese fluently, it’s so hard to do so Long story short, to sum up my experience: - Although informing them of a shrimp allergy in advance, there was no pre-acknowledgment or follow-up. Unfortunately, my guest had to skip when shrimp was served, and it seemed like the chef was unaware and indifferent to allergies, despite confirming with my hotel concierge beforehand - Sake choices were not up to the customer; they decided for you and you have no choice. As a frequent sake drinker, I found their sake's smell and flavor akin to it being open for too long - I’m pretty sure about that. The one they opened a fresh bottle, it was surprisingly good though - The strained relationship between the main chef and the server created an uncomfortable atmosphere and it was so awful. I don’t know if it’s because I grew up in Asia culture, I could see the invisible but obvious hierarchy in the restaurant added to our discomfort very much - Priced at ¥25,000 per person for Christmas, the sushi lacked the expected "wow" factor. The course was SO PLAIN, without truffles, caviar, or exquisite ingredients. At half the price, it might have been acceptable - The dessert was only one strawberry. Literally just one strawberry This is my last day in Tokyo for my trip, the disappointment at this restaurant compelled me to share the experience. If you go to sushi places a lot and see these pictures, you know what I’m saying - you could see that the sushi course was not for the price.

Partner booked here as a surprise and we had a really lovely time. We were the only foreigners in the restaurant and really enjoyed observing the chef, service team and fellow customers for our first omakase of this price point in Japan. We thoroughly enjoyed the selection of food presented in the $250pp set menu option, some highlights include the toro and the snow crab. There was a range of textures with each dish being different and delicious. I can’t drink much alcohol currently so was after something light and fresh and the team were really accomodating with putting something citrusy together for me. I really disagree with the other foreigner reviews for this restaurant complaining about the treatment from the chef. I think it was a privilege to be there and whilst we did not have the same interactions with the chef that the locals had we still had such a great experience. Shout out to the people sitting next to us who shared some sake and great conversation. We were lucky to have a waitress working who could speak English and explain the dishes to us but even without that it would still have been a lovely night. The only thing I really noticed that might need some improvement is the flow of the evening, we walked in for our booking into a full restaurant right on time and it felt a bit awkward. Otherwise thank you so much to the chef and team here for a great dinner experience! We hope to come back soon.

Shari is perfect. We eat a lot of omakase, and are regulars at 1 and 2 michelin star omakases. This place is definitely on par. The chef knows what he is doing and executes perfectly. 100% recommend trying! Uni is loaded on, had to get a second divine piece...

It’s our second time here at Sushi Ryo. Food quality and service were excellent. The sake selections were better than last time though. Once again we had a fantastic dining experience.
