Things I want to try in Tokyo

We came to this restaurant expecting a good experience and, to be fair, the food itself was very good. That is exactly why what happened at the end was even more disappointing. We were served a single glass of sake for which we were charged 50,000 yen, without any prior explanation, no price warning, and no confirmation before serving it. This price is completely out of line with the Japanese market, even for high-end sake. What happened feels like a clear scam and a serious abuse. Everyone at the table ended the night angry and extremely dissatisfied. It strongly feels like they tried to take advantage of us. No matter how good the food is, this kind of practice is unacceptable. We will not return, and we do not recommend this restaurant to anyone, to prevent others from going through the same experience.

Sushi Ryo – A World-Class Sushi Experience in Tokyo Dining at Sushi Ryo in Tokyo was, without a doubt, the best sushi experience I’ve had in Japan. This is not just a meal—it’s a carefully curated, high-end culinary journey designed for those who truly appreciate the art of sushi and sashimi at the highest level. This premium, omakase-style experience features 10 to 15 exquisite courses, each crafted by Master Chef Ryo, who has over 10 years of experience in traditional Japanese sushi. Every piece is handmade with precision right in front of you, using the freshest seasonal ingredients. You don’t order à la carte here—you trust the chef, and he delivers an unforgettable series of flavors, textures, and presentations. From start to finish, the hospitality is warm and elegant. Chef Ryo speaks English, is incredibly friendly, and creates a welcoming yet exclusive atmosphere. The pricing reflects the premium experience: one set price covers the full tasting course and generous servings of sake, with no nitpicky tracking or surprise charges. It’s all about trust, quality, and service. If you're a food lover or someone who values authenticity, refinement, and true Japanese craftsmanship, Sushi Ryo is an absolute must-visit in Tokyo.

(Update) Visited again 2 years later and the experience was even better. The fish was very good and the chef served a very interested variety of courses. I ordered sake and was given several choices. I tried two and though both were excellent, including a nigori sake I had not had before that was superb. The chef clearly knows how to make good sushi. Had a fantastic meal in this traditional small Japanese sushi restaurant where you can see everything being made right in front of you. Highly recommend.

Sushi Ryo offers good value for a casual omakase experience in Ginza. While the quality is solid for the price, those seeking finer ingredients might prefer other options within a 10-minute drive at a similar cost. Great for a relaxed meal in an upscale area.

The Food was great. Love most of them. Surprisingly delicious. More toward the casual omakase. If you are looking for perfect service, this is not the place. English speaking staff. Can book online via pocket concierge. Staff called to postpone my reservation from 7pm to 8pm. So unprofessional of omakase restaurant. In the end we got our table at 7:30pm. Sake has no menu. 3,300 per serving. They also overcharged me for sake.

Went for dinner right after getting engaged and we loved it! Pushed our boundaries for new flavors and we would absolutely go back. Chef was kind and servers were helpful. For the price it is a very good omakase.

Shari is perfect. We eat a lot of omakase, and are regulars at 1 and 2 michelin star omakases. This place is definitely on par. The chef knows what he is doing and executes perfectly. 100% recommend trying! Uni is loaded on, had to get a second divine piece...

Stepping into owner-chef Yusuke Fukasaka’s restaurant is like entering a realm of tranquility and lusciousness. His hands dance with an artful touch, weaving a tapestry of succulence and decadence. Yusuke’s expertise transforms the mundane into a symphony of delectable treats. Each dish feels like a personalized journey to bliss, leaving us eagerly anticipating the encore. If you seek a Omakase maestro, Yusuke-San is your virtuoso!
