My husband just got knee surgery so we couldn't go anywhere for my birthday so we wanted to order in but still make it celebratory. First off the ordering online and delivery was flawless and I have no notes. Everything came well packaged and on time. I ordered ahead of time and got a sushi cake! Everything was phenomenal from the rolls to the cake itself and I would highly recommend them. I have told everyone I know about the sushi cake, what a fun idea!

I had an amazing experience at Sushi Friend! From the moment I walked in, I could tell this place was special. The highlight for me was the hamachi — it literally melted in my mouth, and I knew right then that I was in for some top-tier sushi. The flavors were incredibly fresh, and the quality of the fish was exceptional. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was welcoming. I will definitely be coming back for more! Highly recommend to any sushi lovers in the Phoenix area!

Awesome little sushi shop. Located in the North Central corridor in sunnyslope. Excellent little shop that you wouldn't know it was there unless somebody told you where it was. Once you have found it you have found the best sushi in this part of town with a very cool and charismatic owner of the shop. Kevin makes everybody feel welcome and the food is excellent.

I love Sushi Friend! I wish I lived closer cause I would eat here all the time. The vibes are chill, the atmosphere is simple and to the point, service is great, and the sushi is so fresh! I love Otoro nigiri and they have one of the freshest fatty tuna nigiri I would say around town. I’ve eaten here a couple of times and like to get their platter cause I feel like you’re getting the best bang for your buck. Would highly recommend!

Not only is the sushi amazing and incredibly fresh, I’d suggest getting here right at opening because being the first to get sushi is awesome. This is our second time within 5 days and we don’t regret it. Not only that the music playlist is off the chain. Amazing sushi, good vibes and good location come here ASAP!

The sushi was fresh and delicious and the ube crème brûlée was to die for. Fresh wasabi even! The decor is minimal and it got kind of loud/echo-y despite there only being a few people dining in. But I’ll definitely be back!

I’ve witnessed this small business bloom into what they are now, and they absolutely deserve it. The owner and the staff have always been kind. Their sushi and bowls are always fresh and neat. Overall, it’s an amazing addition to the Sunny Slope neighborhood. I will be supporting them for years to come!

Okay, I had no clue that I hadn't reviewed Sushi Friend yet! We stumbled upon this little place a few years back when they didn't have any tables yet, so we sat at the bar and were served by the single chef (and owner?) who seemed to be primarily running an amazing takeout business for the surrounding neighborhood. We returned a few months ago, and now Sushi Friend has a little more in-store presence with a few small tables. I have no doubt they could fill a full restaurant if they wanted to expand! The sushi is always fresh, service is friendly, and I love following their Instagram and salivating over the fancy sushi they make for events and parties. My 11 month old future Yelper is a huge sushi fan, so I expect we'll be ordering her a sushi cake from Sushi Friend once it's socially acceptable!

We came here to celebrate my wife birthday. She requested a sushi cake and she loved it. We couldn't finish the cake but it was delicious. The only complaint I had was the size of the venue and location. Need to be very careful going to the parking lot as the access entryways are tight. Parking lot a dirt lot. Limited seating in the business and not that much space for a big group. NOTE: This is a very late review. If property has been updated since then, then this would be 4 STARS.

This place is great!!!!! Excellent food, excellent staff, just plain EXC-ELL-ENT!!!! The guys working here are very kind, courteous and accommodating even though this is supposed to be a quick pick-up & go sort of spot. And my Mom loves this place too!!!

Soooo a few of my friends had told me about this place and I took awhile to give it a try. The perfect reason for a visit came up a few days ago and my friend and I decided to go. Parking is fine in the back lots of room in the gravel parking lot. Upon entering we were greeted nicely from the staff in the kitchen area with instructions on how to use the iPad for ordering, etc. They have a great lineup of sushi and sides as well as drinks. We got a few beers ordered some sushi and sides of miso soup and seaweed salad. The room next to kitchen area has like eight tables and we grabbed one by the window. The space is nice and chill. The sushi was awesome! In fact it all was perfect.

Any person I can call a Sushi Friend is a good friend indeed! Met with said sushi friend for lunch. I got here a little after opening and nearly all of the limited front parking spots were taken but there is parking in the back as well. The shop is pretty small and has a well organized tablet ordering system. It was easy to find what we wanted and to pay. While one half of the shop is devoted to making your meal and ordering area, the other half has a fair amount of seating for the space they have. I had the sashimi bowl. It didn't take too long to make and it looked absolutely incredible. It was served in a paper bowl and had a selection of what looked like snapper, salmon and tuna sashimi with a generous dollop of wasabi, pickled ginger, avocado, surumi, shredded daikon and tamago. You have your choice of rice, salad or halfsies for your bottom layer. I opted for the half rice half salad combo. The rice was warm, rice vinegar infused, and perfectly cooked. The sashimi was very fresh as were all the other ingredients. I saw that they offer real wasabi too! Very cool. I will have to try it with one of my meals one day. I was very intrigued by the sushi cake they offer here. Might have to get one for my next trip around the sun celebration ;)

Went here for lunch with my husband and in-laws and had an amazing time. I've had Sushi Friend on my list for some time and finally knocked it out. The food was incredible and absolutely delicious. Everything in here is sleek and modern. The staff was SO kind. Definitely a cute spot worth visiting and putting in our rotation. Can't wait to be back.

We came here for a birthday celebration and it did not disappoint! The food is crazy delicious and fresh. The employees were super friendly and helpful for our first time ordering and suggested different beers to try. It it is mostly a takeout restaurant, not a sit down, have a waiter experience just for info.

Yes it's on a Yelp list. Yes it's in a random location with a dirt parking lot. Yes you have to order on a screen then go sit down. And finally yes, it's very worth it. Sushi was great, fresh, and vibrant in a way. The staff interaction was good, but tough to rate when they just bring food over. The outside, including dirt lot, plays into the surprisingly neat and clean interior to go along with the great sushi. Fresh wasabi (not just the green horseradish paste) is always a huge plus for sushi - nice add on and well worth the premium.

It's no surprise this sushi establishment has been part of yelps top 100 nationwide! It is always delicious, the customer service is amazing, and it was super busy... Especially for being so close to closing time. They have expanded the parking in back and expanded to add seating and a restroom. Great place!

A completely different sushi experience! It's fun & fast paced. The inside is quite tiny but functional. When you first walk in you will be happily greeted by the sushi chefs. As you keep walking in, steer right straight up to the 2 ordering kiosks where you will decide what to order & drink then pay. We sat at the bar area which was quite entertaining watching all the magic being performed by the sushi chefs. There's a lot of pick up orders going on as well so there's a ton of traffic in this tiny establishment. With this is mind, you know your sushi will be fresh! After paying & seating yourself, you'll get your drinks from the fridge, utensils & napkins. When our order was up, we dug right in! The quality of the sushi was top notch!! Although it didn't look like there was a lot of food, we were full with our order. I loved how clean, efficient & happy this place is-the quality of the food makes it extra! 10/10

Ambiance is intimate. It is a small sitting restaurant with 4 2-person tables and small bar area. Super cute and the smell in there is divine because it is small. Love that sushi smell! The sushi is very good! Amazing quality. We order to go and it's always delicious!

So this space is very small but they make do. They are friendly and quick to turn our orders, they if you go during peak meal times you may have to wait. The sushi is great though, it's worth going if you haven't been, you may find a new favorite sushi spot.

Sushi Friend lived up to the hype! It's a fun, non-pretentious spot that serves up some delicious and fresh sushi. My husband and I stopped in for lunch on a Friday. The interior is bright and the employees are friendly. We ordered on the kiosk, and even though they were fairly busy with orders, our sushi came out in 15-20 minutes. The X Bowl was fresh and delicious with a very generous amount of tuna and salmon. Highlights from the Premium Platter were the Seared Salmon roll and Kiro Roll.

The very best sushi in Arizona. If you love good quality sushi that tastes fresh and delicious , this is THE spot! I appreciate sashimi or nigiri, you have to try it. The ambiance is nice, the employees are always super nice. I ordered accidentally for a different day and they were accommodating for my mistake. I live about 45 minutes away from this place but I always make it a point to come and drive here to have their sushi because it is that amazing!

Being rated on a Yelp Top 10 list is like being nominated for an Acadeny award. S/o to Sushi Friend for being nominated #3 on Yelps top sushi restaurants. We decided order take out on Valentine's Day. It appeared about 25 other couples had the same idea. We decided to build our own platter of 5 rolls. Every roll was unique but my two favorites were the Seared salmon roll and Sushislope roll. We waited about 90 minutes for our food on Valentines but it was absolutely worth the wait. The ambiance is dope. The owner and staff are high energy and entertaining. The sushi is prepared openly. S/o to whoever was DJing. A restaurant like Sushi Friend can be transformational for an area. I don't have enough superlatives to give, but it is worth the drive from wherever you are in PHX.

Quick lunch on a Saturday. The place is small and does a brisk take out business. We opted to dine in. The ambiance is very minimal, but clean and modern. The menu is pretty varied - hand rolls, cut rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and some bowls as well. We went for a some standard stuff - spicy tuna roll, spicy California roll, salmon, and mahi. All were well prepared and tasted good. Portion size was food as well. The service while tablet based was still engaging and friendly. Would recommend, would repeat... N*joy

I was finally in the area and knew this place had to be the spot for some late lunch / early dinner. The restaurant is easy to miss as it is in a neighborhood looking area and the building is small. We parked in the back as all the spots in the front were taken. We walked in and we were greeted right away. There were three employees manning the front and they were all busy. It was busy. There was a party of three in front of, party of two for me, and another party of two behind us. There was a big party of 8 waiting for their food, and two parties of two already eating. Ordering was easy as you do it on a kiosk and you can check your wait time on your phone. (They provide you a link where you can check your order and place in line) I ordered two specialty rolls and one miso soup. My rolls were: 1 Seared King Salmon Roll and 1 Scallop Dyno Roll. My total was $42. My sisters order was: 1 Cucumber salad, 1 King Salmon Avocado Roll and 1 Spicy Cali Roll. Her total was $31. We went outside to wait on a bench as there was no room inside. Halfway through our quoted wait time of 40 minutes, my miso soup was brought out to me in a cup. The soup was very hot - as a miso soup should be. The broth tasted reallllly good as it was very flavorful. I was expecting seaweed or tofu pieces in it but this miso soup only consisted of the broth and nothing else. At this time, we went inside as a table cleared up. Not long after, our rolls were ready. My rolls were delicious and my favorite one out of the two was the Seared King Salmon Roll and my sisters Spicy Cali Roll was the best of the two, it was just not at all spicy. The cucumber salad is a must. It was cold, refreshing, tasty, and crunchy. Service was great as the employees were friendly and they even thanked us for coming in as we got up to leave. I would definitely come by again when in the area!

Ranked #3 on Yelp's Top 10 US Sushi Spots 2023? It's soy easy to see why. I visited Sushi Friend shortly after the list was released. It's located in a small, unassuming building. There's only a few parking spots in the front, but a lot more in the back. My friend and I were greeted promptly after entering. Sushi Friend is a fast casual restaurant. It's self-order through a device at the counter then they bring out your order. The space is small and is meant for quick bites or to-go orders. My friend and I shared the X bowl ($25.50) and the hamachi serrano roll ($14.50). The X bowl comes with tuna and salmon poke, yuzu onions, avocado, serrano chili, crispy onions, and half rice, half salad. This is one of their teammates, Xavier's personal creation and it's excellent! It has all the best parts of poke and sushi combined. The hamachi serrano roll comes with kanikama (crab stick), spicy mayo, serrano chili, and garlic ponzu. This one also hit the spot! The fish looked and tasted very fresh. Plus, you can watch the staff prepare them on the spot. I'll roll with Sushi Friend any day!

Some of the best sushi I've ever had in my life. A little more expensive than you would find at other sushi restaurants, but the quality is unmatched. The rolls are fairly simple combinations, but the flavors are so complementary to each other. Looking forward to my next visit!

I love their simple and minimalistic branding, it was what originally the reason I wanted to try them in the first place. This more on the to-go/ takeaway style restaurant so be mindful. Order from a tablet, and they will have minimal seating, no more than 2 people at a table. The quality of the sushi was fresh, it was flavorful as I got the 3 rolls for $45. A little pricier than most but being in north Phoenix I understand the marketed area. I wish they were a little bit closer south in the metro area but overall would visit again!

Sushi Friend is a great place to order sushi to go. There is indoor seating to dine in but the seating is minimal. The sushi is so good so it's definitely worth a try. I would recommend ordering online if you'd like to do a quick grab-and-go. We ordered when we got there and the wait was not too bad, about 15 minutes but it was worth the wait. The best part, if you want to watch magic of the sushi making, you have a great view of the process.

I've been hearing of this place a lot and seeing it on Yelp, so I made the trip out to give it a try. For starters, the staff are awesome! The space is small, but immaculate & everything we tried was fresh & flavorful.

The sushi was good! The tuna was melt in your mouth. It's easy to order and the inside is cute! They were friendly and quick! Will definitely be back.

Fantastic fish! My husband and I came here at open today and there was seating available inside so we stayed. Ordering is at the tablet for all dine-in and take-out orders. We absolutely were blown away by their ahi! Their salmon seared and poke roll were fantastic also! Service was great! Food was great! The vibes were great! Now that the weather is approaching cooler temps, would not mind taking some rolls out for a picnic.

The long drive here was well worth it. The sushi was not only amazing but the service is one of the best that I've experienced in a while. Sushi Friend lives up to being the top 3 best sushi places the nation. Upon entering, you're automatically greeted by the chef. My husband and I ordered the chef's special and we were blown away as to how fresh and tasty the sushi was. Chef's special is a good portion to share but I would recommend ordering one additional roll to share between two people. I ended up ordering the tuna Serrano hehe. Supposedly the chef noticed he messed up on my order by adding wasabi on the nigiri and decided to give me a new set of nigiri. I would've just taken off the wasabi but I think the chef going the extra mile to make it right says a lot about the chef's character and how he runs his business. Other important notes: Parking - there are only a few parking spots in the front but there are more parking spots in the back. Ambiance - the ambiance is very inviting and clean. There is limited seating so avoid coming here during their rush. While we were here, there was an employee cleaning the tables once the customers left. Overall, I highly recommend this place! The hype is legit!

I'm new to the area and looked for good sushi places. Found this place with awesome reviews so I gave it a try. I got Premium Platter which comes with 8 nigiri and 3 speciality rolls for my husband and I. The quality of the fish was food. They did much better on their nigiri than speciality rolls. I thought this combo would cover us but I was wrong, the portion is barely enough for the two of us. The large platter would have been better. Service is great. The person who greet me was very friendly. They have a few small tables and a few bar seats with open kitchen if you want to sit down but I prefer taking my home. I'll definitely come back for the large platter next time.

I've been thinking on this review for some time, as I just can't find the words to describe the utter deliciousness of Sushi Friend! It was recently ranked #3 on Yelp's Top Sushi list, so you already know it's worth a visit. It's located off of Central Ave. in Phoenix tucked in a very unassuming building. You can't miss their clever smiley face logo. The front offers a few parking spots, but there is a sign directing you to the back of the building for more parking. This is not the place you're going to bring the whole family to dine in- they do offer dynamite looking party platters for such occasions though for take out! It is the perfect spot to grab a fresh bite with a friend or two. The inside is quaint and offers a few two top tables and a small bar, where you can watch the magic happen! When you walk in, you'll be promptly greeted from one of the amazing team members of SF, or Kevin, the owner. They have a small kiosk for ordering, that sits right on the bar and overlooks the kitchen. You order, and they make it all to order. Oh my last visit I had the X bowl, named after employee Xavier who came up with this magical combination! I honestly couldn't tell you what exactly is in it! It's a bit of everything and perfectly balanced in ever way. It had the savory, sweet, crunch, the tang and is bursting with the flavor that I look for in a bowl. I've had a few of the rolls too, the Yuzu Salmon Roll, Tuna Serrano Roll and Hamachi Serrano roll. They were all beyond beautiful in presentation and matched in freshness and quality. I have loved everything I've tried and can't wait to try more of their offerings. Each visit has been so enjoyable, whether you want a quick bite to go, sit at the bar and chat with the team or share the magic with a friend, its well worth a visit and though I'm not super close, but look forward to many more visits.

Unbelievable. I've had sushi all over the map and sushi friend stands out, no doubt. The flavors are light and fresh, but unique and exciting at the same time. You can tell there's a ton of attention and pride in excellence going into this menu for a killer sushi experience. Will be back next time we're in Phoenix!

This is the place! I haven't enjoyed this quality fresh seafood in AZ in a long time. My daughter and I were greeted the second we entered the door. We grabbed two seats at the bar- all tables were full. We ordered on the iPad and grabbed our drinks. We ordered 3 rolls which were melt in your mouth! Wish we had ordered more. While they tackled walk in customers their online orders were flowing in. The chefs were so kind and asked my daughter about her day and were just so engaging and fun. The hip hop playlist didn't hurt either. We are their new biggest fans!!

The fish was high quality and the sushi rice was sweet and sticky. I loved the unagi don, which had a generous portion of grilled eel and a savory sauce. The big eye tuna was also melt-in-your-mouth tender. The sashimi bowl was good, but not as impressive as the other dishes. Next time, I would just order the sashimi separately. The price was reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. I would definitely come back to try more of their menu. Sushi friend is a friend indeed.

We were craving sushi during our visit to the Glendale.AZ areas. This little gem showed up on Yelp It is a simple menu but they do it well. We ordered the multiple rolls combo. Quality sushi with right amount of rice and quality fish. Highly recommend.

This place is SO cute!!! It's a tiny little spot off Central in Phoenix that's dishing out some flavorful sushi. To start I ordered the seaweed salad and my sister got a cup of miso soup. Both were very flavorful. My sister and I ordered a 3 plate combo of sushi. To be honest, I'm not exactly sure what we ordered, but it was very fresh and yummy! We didn't know what exact rolls we ordered because there were no descriptions of the rolls, anywhere, that we saw. Almost as if you're supposed to know? Not sure. Here is why we were confused. You order on a tablet device and everything is there based on category. So when we clicked the 3-plate sushi menu, it gives you 5-6 different sushi options to only click and not view a description (that I saw). Thankfully we both love sushi so we knew whatever we got was going to be to our liking but it would have been helpful to at least know what was in some of the rolls. Either way, it was delish!! Seating is first come first serve and there are only six little 2-seat tables. In the time we sat there, there was a lot of to-go orders. They make the sushi right at the sushi bar, which is always fun to watch!

Super fresh fish. No freezer in the place. The staff are always friendly and attentive. Since the last time I was in, they expanded to the store next door, making it twice as big for seating.

I was skeptical of finding excellent sushi in the land locked land of Arizona, but this was honestly one of the best meals I had while in phoenix. Ordered online and picked up; easy, perfect amount of food, creative rolls, fresh and delicious. What more could you want in sushi.

First off, I love the location and the fact that the logo is a smile that matches the service! This food is so fresh and yummy, plus I get to see it being made. Everything in my body is happy I ate here today!

I picked up some sushi during my lunch because I was in the area and had seen this place featured on yelp! They made my sushi fresh when I ordered it and you could taste the quality. There is a small area for dining but I took mine to go. I ordered the seared salmon roll, yuzu salmon roll, and unagi nigiri. The seared salmon was my definitely my favorite and something I would come back for!

Food was amazing. Place is very small but clean and staff are friendly. Ordering is easy and did I say food is amazing. Don't pass this tiny little place up.

I was really excited to try this place but my expectations fell short. I love the logo, and the bright yellow tables, but otherwise the dining area is an echoey, LOUD space with no curtains to look out or anything on the wall. There is a small bar in front of the prep kitchen, but it's next to the tablets where you place your orders, so not so inviting. On top of this our eyes started burning after we got inside and didn't stop until after we left. The sushi itself was good, we were missing an item and they were quick to replace it. That said the wait for our order wasn't swift. If it were closer I'd consider this place for take out, but I don't see myself making an effort to return.

We enjoyed the sushi from here. It was fresh and quality. We did the Premium Plate for $65 which comes with 3 specialty rolls, and 8 pieces of nigiri. We had the Sunnyslope roll, Rainbow roll, & Scallop Dyno roll, and 8 pieces of nigiri, Tuna, Salmon, & Yellowtail. Loved the Sunnyslope roll and the Salmon and Tuna nigiri. Just fyi, Inside seating is good for small groups but not large groups.

AMAZING service and a fun experience. I don't love waiting so long for what is essentially a quick-serve restaurant, but if you know what you're getting into, it's not terrible. Very small inside, but we were lucky to get a seat and ate there, so I can't speak to what the sushi is like to-go. The sushi was perfectly fine, but I can't say it's even one of my top 3 favorite places in Phoenix. I'd come here again if someone else wanted to, but likely wouldn't be my first choice.

My fave hangout spot after work! great sushi, lovely place to talk or vibe with friends-- the chefs also provide some great conversations too sometimes :) I also catered a ton of sushi here for my friends and I prom night and all the many rolls of sushi were consistently good quality!!

Came in for lunch for some poke bowls! There was no wait - we went in at 3pm. The portions are insane. Soooo much high quality ingredients and is the best poke bowl I've ever had. Coming into sushi friend is the best treat! Will be back for their $5 basic roll lunch special!

Stopped by to get some sushi for lunch during the week. It was fast and easy to order online. The location is nice and staff were friendly. The sushi was nothing special considering the price. Probably wouldn't come back.

Great, friendly sushi spot! Not sure if the owners work there, but there were only 2 guys working when I came in. The restaurant is quite small with only a few tables and bar area. You order from a kiosk and just sit back, relax, and wait for ur sushi to arrive! I forgot which special rolls we ordered, but I thought they were pretty good. I think I was expecting to be blown away, but didn't end up getting blown away, so hence, the 4 stars review. The sushi was definitely tasty, but very similar quality and grade to other sushi restaurants that I've visited. I didn't see a bathroom for customers inside the restaurant. Maybe it's outside??? Not sure, but I only had to wash my hands, so there was a small, cute, sink near the area where the sushi is prepared for getting my hands cleaned up and ready for sushi!

Omgggg so good! Didn't expect this place to be as hidden as it is. It's super small, maybe 4 tables so takeout may be better but it's def worth it to eat your sushi fresh there!
