Good hole in the wall spot for omakase sushi -- reservations required for either 30 minute omakase $50 or an hour omakase. I tried the $50 one and it was pretty good -- it's an "underground" sushi bar that blasts music and it's a pretty hip vibe!

Google
Sushi by Bou offers reasonably priced omakase with high-quality fish. I had their 12 course Omakase experience for $60. I didn’t drink while I was there, but they have a beautiful bar and a large drink menu, if you’re looking for a cocktail. If you’re in a time crunch, have a show to go to, etc, this is the spot to go. The restaurant seats customers promptly, and asks you to move to the bar area at the end of your Omakase to seat the next customers.

Google
Quick omakase at a more reasonable price. The vibe is super fun with a disco theme. There is another location nearby in Chelsea that has a totally different vibe and is more expensive, so make sure you know which one you are looking for. The drinks were good, I enjoyed my ginger highball. Omakase was great at that price point. Be careful though if you get extras and drinks it will add up quickly though! The service was great and all the staff was so friendly and helpful! Overall it was fun and I would definitely revisit!

Extremely satisfied with Chef Alex at this location! Loved that we went when it wasn’t packed at all so our experience was more personal and enjoyable. Every single piece was made beautifully and tasted absolutely exquisite. We even got some sake and an extra piece on the house! Chef’s attention to detail is phenomenal. Will definitely come back for more as this is the best omakase experience I’ve had so far. Plus we also took a few polaroid pics courtesy of the staff, making it super memorable. Kanpai Chef Alex and team Bou!🍣🍶

Google
The 12 course omakase was excellent. It was fast paced but did not feel too rushed and it was a great price point for what we got. Looking forward to coming back!

Google
Overall rating: 4.2 I have to caveat that I didn’t know fast dining was an actual thing until I went here! Fast dining or rush dining. My friend was 5-10 min late & the staff was not pleased 😅 They tried to seem chill, but they def asked me how far she was like 3x. Aside from feeling rushed, we sat near the register and that was a huge regret. There was someone who pulled out our seats, explained the different napkins, then was just hovering at a place I already felt rushed before even starting food. It was a bit overwhelming, ngl. The food was good, but as others mentioned very fast. I came with the intention of eating affordable omakase ($60 for 12 course), which it definitely was! However, to me, it’s not worth feeling rushed. The chances of me coming back is very low.

Google
Great place if you want an omakase experience for a reasonable price. As long as you're aware that there is a 30 minute time limit, you'll be fine. Service is fast but efficient. Fish is fresh and the sushi was good. I especially liked the sweet shrimp. There is however lots of stairs and the entrance is weird. Definitely not wheelchair friendly, but there are many other locations so that might be more accessible.

I can never have sushi anywhere else after experiencing Sushi by Bou. The Flatiron location had amazing service and atmosphere❤️❤️❤️❤️ Everyone had great energy and were very attentive. We started with Yuzu Honey Bee’s (both tequila & bourbon versions). Beautiful drinks😍 definitely recommend the bourbon👌🏼 Then did the 17 course sushi🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 Chef was really COOKING🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I recommend trying everythinggggh on the menu. You won’t regret a single piece! Also had shots with the staff🥰🥰 We’ll be coming back soon❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Google
Excellent sushi and incredible value. Loved the food, but the pace at which it's served to fit everything into a 30 minute window takes some getting used to. There's barely enough time to eat each piece, clean your hands, clear palette with ginger before there's already another piece in front of you. There's also a timer sitting on top of the sushi counter, which feels like it's staring you down and forcing you to rush. So different from classic omakase. All that said, definitely worth the $50 price for 10-course omakase.

Yelp
The cat neon light by the entrance really got me. The atmoshphere is really unique and the vibe is very chill. The courses we got really tasted delicious and fresh. This had by far the most delicious affordable sushi omakase I had! I would definitely be back and try other Sushi by Bou locations!

Yelp
As we all know by now, a small 9-10 seat speakeasy omakase sushi establishment tucked in the back of a little bakery. The service and attention was amazing. We had a 17 course experience each with a Saki flight. It was so delicious, we asked to stay and repeat the experience again in the same sitting and they said yes! Two 34 course tastings with Saki flights was so amazing, like no other we have been to. We felt so welcomed and attended to. Next time we are back, we are definitely coming back in!

Justina L.

Yelp
Affordable omakase sushi with 12 or 17 course options. $60 for 12 courses is a deal you can't beat. We opted for the 17 course and were full before we could get to the end. Fresh ingredients. The chefs are awesome. Counter seating so you are part of the experience. Great for date night. Make sure to make a reservation.

Cheryl W.

Yelp
this spot was tucked away but the moment you walk in, you're welcomed with the disco theme. we did the 12 course and it was so delicious. every piece had so much flavor. loved that they also accommodated for allergies. highly recommend this spot and they're doing a $50 - 12 course promotion if you dm "VIP" on their Instagram

Yelp
Sushi by Bou offers an amazing, affordable omakase experience and amazing cockatils! It is located in the basement and gives a small cozy vibe. With just limited seating, you get a personalized experience with the sushi chef. There are 2 options - a 12 course option and a 17 course option. The food is made with the best and freshest ingredients and every bite is an explosion of flavor in your mouths. They have amazing cocktails and sake options that pair really well with the food and the disco themed vibe they have for this location. Great date night spot, will definitely return with friends!

Nirali S.

Yelp
Completely unmemorable and overpriced compared to other omakase places, and service was lacking. They started our service 15 mins late, but still wanted us to finish within the hour, so the whole experience felt incredibly rushed especially since we elected for the 17 course option. We didn't even get asked about drinks until the 2nd or 3rd course. There are many other omakase places around that offer better value, service, and ambiance.

Yelp
We came in to eat on a later reservation. Food was rushed. Manager paced around behind us, started intentionally packing up loudly and reached over us to grab plates and glasses before we were done to make us finish faster. I love Sushi by Bou Times Square and will not be back to this location. Food was ok.

Khoi N.

Yelp
I am a huge fan of the chain. I feel like every time I visit I have to grab lunch here. This newish location is no exception. Cool art with hip hop playing. A dark intimate vibe and they feature some fun cocktails. Prices are always low compared to other omakase spots with high quality fish. My friends and I got the premium omakase because we called in about a 20% off special online offer. I always love their toro, unagi, scallop and Big Mac handroll. The service here is always on point. We didn't feel rushed and the waiter knew all of the popular sakes. Highly recommend checking their social media for any special promos and make reservations via Open Table.

Yelp
Booked a "bougie" upgrade deal which gave us a free upgrade to 17 course from the standard 12 course omakase. The price is great considering the upgrade was free ($60) and quality/selection of fish is good considering how much you're paying. Very intimate, dark and trendy location. There's about 12 or 14 seats at the bar I think and 2 chefs for each side. They played a selection of classic hiphop hits, the vibe was cool. My favorite pieces of fish were the salmon, toro, wagyu uni, a few other ones that I don't remember the names of. A lot of it is sourced from Japan! I kept anticipating the meal to end but the 17 courses is longer than you'd expect. It's a good amount for a culinary experience, and satisfying enough. Def take advantage of the bougie deal!

Tansy W.

Yelp
Good sushi at a great price. It's definitely very fast - our whole meal was done in 30 min after which they moved us to the lounge so we could finish our sake, but I didn't mind. FYI: This location is a bit more spacious than the Times Square location.

Yelp
New Bou Location!! Had to come try it. Sushi by bou is my go-to lower-priced omakase - great for first timers. Vibes here are great! Came here for my birthday and music choices were on point. I love the lighting here compared to other Bou locations too (definitely center seats are better for those photographers out there.) For my birthday, we also got some comped drinks, so that was very nice of them! I was a bit surprised to see only 2 workspaces/chefs here, since there were really 3 groups. I wouldve expected at least one more. Because of this, I didn't feel like we got the personal experience with the chef we normally would. Food here was good but not great. I think seeing the chef precut all the pieces and pile them together like a mound of meat detracted from the omakase experience. The rice was definitely more firm and dense than expected, and fish/garnish was often placed a bit haphazardly, seemingly without much care. I think everything tasted fresh, but I did end up with a case of a stomach bug too, so I'm not sure where that came from. Overall, I really did want to like this location, but there's definitely room for improvement.

Lucia S.

Yelp
delicious sushi at an affordable price! the vibe was intimate and dark perfect for a date night. there is only seating at the counter, which is good since you can watch the sushi chefs make each piece. loved it!

Yelp
I came here with my husband on opening night and had a spectacular experience - pretty much what you would expect from an omakase! We arrived a bit earlier than our reservation and was able to snag a table before we were promptly seated at the chef's counter. The omakase menu is listed on the left side of the chef's counter so you know exactly what you're getting as the chefs place your piece in front of you. The chefs are funny and super interactive which is great because that is kind of the point of omakase. They drank with us and described where each of the pieces came from. Since we sat right in the center, my husband and I were able to see the action up close! Our favorite has got to be the spotted brawn (botan ebi) - loved it so much we ordered it a la carte after our omaksae! Second favorite? The Big Mac!! Not sure it's actually on the menu but definitely something you want to try.. it's uni AND wagyu all in one - man, I'm salivating just thinking about the bites! Did I mention they import their scallop from Hokkaido? It will literally melt in your mouth! Cocktail drinks and sake also available - their drinks are NOT watered down and actually quite strong!! Very delicious - I'm not a sake drinker but their sake went down so smooth I couldn't resist getting a second and third shot! We also tried the yuzu honey bee (bourbon, honey syrup yuzu), Kyusho Cove (rum and hibiscus tea and syrup), Hot honey (Mezcal, tequila, yuzu, hot syrup , and Old Fashioned Pearl (bourbon, barley syrup). My fav. was the yuzu honey bee - you really get the feel of alcohol yet you also taste the very aromatic flavours of yuzu. honestly a must try. This is probably my fav Sushi by Bou location! Really can't wait to come back for another 5* experience soon! Thank you Jun for the delicious sushis!

Yelp
Great Omakase place, the atmosphere is absolutely beautiful and the service is 10/10. Would definitely go back again. Each sushi is unique and very tasty as well fresh quality seafood.

Mareena P.

Yelp
This place is a little hard to find, it's one of those restaurants that has a sign outside on the sidewalk and you have to take the stairs down for the entrance- we couldn't find it initially because it was too dark to see the sign outside! Having a 12 course omakasee in 30 minutes felt a bit rushed- probably wouldn't do it again. The food was spectacular and kept us full for the rest of the night and the chefs cooked in front of you which I always love. The hostess was great and we got a complimentary sake shot which was so sweet of them!

Amanda M.

Yelp
Had an amazing time celebrating a friend's birthday. We went with a group of 12, the chefs are so much fun! It's not stuck up, snobby, but the fish is absolutely 10 out of 10. Our friends have all decided, we are going to try all the different sushi by bous as we celebrate birthdays! It's such a different ambiance from location to location, but always expect a great time and amazing food regardless of location! I had the chance to speak with Sarah B. The absolute sweetest and she runs this location! Can't wait to come back, don't forget to take a Polaroid!

Laken T.

Yelp
Lol it ruined sushi for me personally. It was beyond good! Super fresh and the chef is always friend (and very experienced). I've been multiple times already and the service has always been top notch! Really love the vibe there too. Is you're a bigger guy like myself, I recommend adding two or three more of your favorite sushi's on the omakase menu.

Marika G.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. Don't miss out. The staff is welcoming, the food is amazing, and the music was perfect. What a happy accident. I will be back specially to see Chef Freddy! What a treat.

Amanda M.

Yelp
10 out of 10. This place is such a vibe and a great place to bring a group of your friends!! If you're looking for a place to eat in NYC before hitting the lounges/clubs, sushi by bou is an incredible dinner pre party. Service was top notch by the team from the bartender to the chefs. They're consistently consistent with food and service!

Zach S.

Yelp
HUGE fan of this concept. Amazing experience, food and atmosphere. The chefs were very informative and their dishes were DELICIOUS. Signature cocktails were unique and enjoyable. Highly recommend.

Neil W.

Yelp
Small but the speak easy in the back is super cool and the sushi and service are fantastic! Great date spot.

Sarah C.

Yelp
Amazing experience! Chef Jack is my favorite. Always go with the bartender special, the drinks are on point.

Yelp
Cut to the Chase: The hostess/waitress did not allow us to purchase extras due to table turnover but we saw the rest of the bar allowed to purchase the extras at the end of the meal. Don't come here on Fridays and Saturdays if you want extras at the end of your meal. Detailed Summary: My husband and I have been to various Sushi by Bou locations and were excited to see this location so close to us. We showed up for our 8am seating last night and the bar seating was empty except for maybe 2 people from the previous seating. Those for the 8pm seating were waiting in the lounge area. Then when they cleared the bar table, they called the 8pm seating to the bar around 8:07pm. We enjoyed the food as we always have, but at the end when the waitress/hostess showed up. We asked if we could get 2 Big Macs at the end of our meal and she said no, the next seating was here and Fridays and Saturdays were tight. It sucked to hear that and we would have been fine with it had we not seen that almost every person at our seating got to request extras at the end of their meal. No apologies or recognition of the mistake.

Dana T.

Yelp
This review is for the service I received and not the food. The food was good. Unfortunately I have an allergy that was not adhered to and it ruined the experience and my night. I noted in my reservation, in a message to the restaurant the day of, and upon arrival that I had a sesame allergy. I was told I would be accommodated. The hostess/manager even asked when I walked in who in our party had the allergy. I said me. Her response was "great, I'll inform the chef." Making it seem like she would tell the chef which one of us has the allergy. So far so good. We get to the counter, the chef asks who gets no sesame, I again say me. Great. On about our 6th course. I bite into the piece of sushi and see there are sesame seeds. I immediately tell the chef and and he apologizes. But like, what went wrong here? Totally unprofessional to say you can accommodate an allergy and then put someone's health at risk and not accommodate. I've been to several other Omakase places, not to mention countless other Asian restaurants and leaving the sesame out or making other accommodations has never been a problem. We were also the only people in there on a Tuesday night. It's not like the chef was busy and got confused. And it seems like that was the only course that called for sesame seeds so it's not like I was asking them to change the entire menu for me. I was then offered lemon water LOL. That's not how allergies work. I was like no thanks I took an antihistamine because I have an actual allergy. Terrible.

Fred K.

Yelp
The perfect date night spot! The sushi, especially bluefin tuna is just as fresh and delightful as the themed decor and attentive staff! Sushi chef Jack is the best! ***Pro tip- bring a few coins with you on the way to bathroom and surprise your date with a toy you'll win from the claw arcade machine***

Ali S.

Yelp
love the food, disco vibes and amazing service!! another incredible omakase from sushi by bou!

Nam H.

Yelp
We have been to the Sushi By Bou in Times Square a few years ago and loved it, great quality and value, so we were excited to try out this location in the Flatiron. Honestly, I'm far from a food snob and usually let subpar experiences slide, but this experience was one of the worst I've ever had in my life. Even with the upgraded "bougie" 1 hr Omakase, they rush out the dishes to you where you're practically double fisting the food. We finished our "1 hr" Omakase in 40 minutes. The food is sloppily prepared, I saw the chef try to add a topping to one dish, but he couldn't get it to sit on the piece of fish, and after a couple seconds he just gave up and served it without the topping. Usually you're supposed to use your hands to pick up the sushi but it's so sloppily prepared that you have to use the chopsticks. Honestly, it was so consistently bad across the board, I've never had a dining experience like that before. Most dishes don't use enough rice, have too much wasabi, and way too salty. The chef also quickly mumbles the name of each dish as he rushes on to the next dish. And on top of that, it's expensive, over $250 for the bougie experience and 1 drink each. I'm still in disbelief tbh.

Victoria M.

Yelp
Second time here and had another fantastic omakase experience. Chef Freddy gave us unique flavor combinations and also provided a great interactive experience, being sure to explain the fish and flavors being used. We will definitely be back!

Elad K.

Yelp
So goooood! The sushi was fresh and unique. The vibe is great and the waitress was so nice.

Stephanie R.

Yelp
Dive bar sushi. Rushed service, food was just ok - nothing memorable. After we were done they quickly ushered us to the tables behind the bar. Would not go back.

Ningying F.

Yelp
Can't remember when it was the last time I had a bad dining experience like this. The food was sloppily prepared and didn't feel fresh. We upgraded the experience from 30 mins to a hour but the extra five pieces of sushi tasted worse than the previous ones. Not worth the prices and killed nice Sat vibe

Samantha C.

Yelp
By far the worst omakase I've ever been to. The four of us chose the 1 hour course. The food was rushed and the chef was not friendly at all. It started off okay and the beginning pieces were fresh, but a few pieces were overly salty. The uni had gone bad, so bad that we had to spit it out. It left an awful lingering taste that took long to get rid of. Uni is one of the pieces we always look forward to so this is very disappointing. The waitress was nice and did offer another selection to compensate. I can understand a one off bad piece but it didn't stop there. The tuna hand-roll was so salty that I had to spit it out again! This is the first time I ever had to spit out any type of food at a restaurant, let alone twice! It's almost comical to mess up high quality fish that bad where it's inedible. The last dish was the eel which was overly dressed with the sweet eel sauce so not a good end to the meal. None of the pieces were memorable. There's so many other great omakase places to try. Skip this one!
