Surfjack Hotel & Swim Club

We stayed at the SurfJack for one night for our anniversary. This was our first time staying at this hotel and I have got to say it was a wonderful experience. The hotel is an apartment building that underwent a renovation. It's a groovy hotel. We were so fortunate and grateful to Shepherd for upgrading our room. It made the experience truly exceptional and we felt very taken care of. The staff were very friendly and overall it had a great vibe. I just wish we had more time to spend at the hotel. |Keep in mind it is an older building and won't feel as glitzy as a 5 star hotel. Don't expect that. The lobby also had a water refill station and complimentary tea and coffee in the morning. Great location as well.

The Surfjack is fantastic - awesome value for money ($10 a day parking?!), charming vibe, friendly staff and an awesome location. We stayed for a week and enjoyed both our room and the restaurant, coffee shop and lounging area. The room is equipped with AC, an overhead fan, a miniature fridge, blackout blinds, and closets with wooden hangers. I didn't spend any time on the lanai (patio) due to the heat and noise, but it was great for drying off swimwear. There is a free coffee/tea station in the lobby from 7 a.m., but no in-room coffee machine. Also a free cold/hot water machine in the lobby, and an ice machine. There is a cotton tote in the room and free beach towels at the front desk. The location is unbeatable. You can enjoy Waikiki (although do venture out because it is not representative of Oahu) but also easily get to other parts of the island. The parking is a three minute walk from the hotel, and is probably the best deal in Waikiki. The hotel is also a five minute walk from Target, which is convenient for grabbing snacks/groceries, toiletries and drinks. There is plenty of space outside for Uber and Lyft service and the immediate area is mostly residential and quiet. The only downsides would be there wasn't a chair or sofa in our room (a king) and we could hear the folks around us occasionally (as in, we would sometimes hear the TV in the next room or if the dog above us barked).

Four years ago we stayed here when we came to the island because we heard they were dog friendly. Not many hotels are open to 100 lb. German Shepherds😆 so we jumped at the opportunity. We stayed for three weeks and by the end of our stay we felt like family! Today we just checked out of a two day staycation and I can say it feels just the same. I can’t say enough about the warm and friendly staff. Always greeting us with a smile, always accommodating and helpful! Each and every staff member! Also love coming back every evening to live music. Love the vibes with the open layout of the restaurant and the pool. Our kids love seeing Jack the resident pup. They are not just dog friendly, they LOVE dogs which I find to be so endearing. Stay here you won’t regret it.

Hi, We had an excellent stay at the Surf Jack! Only complaint was the elevator being a bit iffy sometimes. From the get go the staff was super accommodating and helpful ( early check in was made possible). We were exhausted and had just landed from a long haul flight. It was such a nice surprise. We had a leak in our bathroom ( AC unit related) and very quickly were moved to a higher tier room. No waiting, no questioning just immediate service. I was sick that night and recovering from a cold so the extra attention and care came a really long way! The hotel is super cute with lots of dogs, a beautiful pool, and many events and music happening downstairs. We didn't get to go to the Arvo cafe but cannot stress enough that the location is excellent and had no issues being picked up from any of our excursions. The Surf Jack is right near all the sights at Waikiki. The view from the balcony is also amazing. No microwave or coffee but close to food and shops. Staff is spectacular! Room cleaned daily. Excellent care and attention!

the experience here is just great. the location is great for walking all over Waikiki, the parking is just a short walk and the garage is nicer than many other parking garages. roomy and safe. it is clear that it is an older property that has been renovated but the rooms are very comfortable and easy to live in, the restaurant and bar are great and I honestly cannot figure out why they aren't packed all the time. the pool is the cutest version of an existing pool that is just lovely to laze in and around. the fact that someone thought to tile it with a giant message saying 'wish you were here' is a stroke of brilliance. but the best and my favorite part of this property and experience is the staff. they make you feel so welcomed and at home, I will be sad to leave. but compared to our last stay at a larger more bougie hotel, this vacation has been much more fun. I think I will be staying here whenever possible.

Biggest takeaways for me: 1. Great location: This area is not too close to the heart of Waikiki where all the busy tourists are and close enough to Honolulu, local neighborhoods, and parks where you can walk around all in peace. 2. Great atmosphere: For individuals or couples, this is a great spot. There were barely any kids around. This new hotel provides an artsy and modern take. Amazing coffee shop (best in the area in my opinion) + Live Entertainment (soothing) + smaller hotel vibe were all a plus! 3. Solid value: This hotel is NOT one of those expensive high end resorts. It’s more affordable than many of the other places around, but can still get costly during specific time. Overall: A must stay for those singles or couple that like to be out-and-about, and also wants a bit of luxury out of their stay.

Very nice stay for the price. Hotel is older but relocated to have a modern look and feel. Friendly staff, nice pool area, restaurant and coffee shop. Location is great, maybe a 5-10 minute walk to malls, the beach, and lots of restaurants. Would stay here again

We absolutely loved our stay at the Surfjack hotel! Such a great vibe. Our room was very comfortable and the staff was super nice. Great coffee shop in the hotel and we loved the live music in the evenings. Wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you ☺️
