Food here is really good, but not exceptional for Istanbul. We have been recommended a great wine by our waiter, thanks for that again. The atmosphere is amazing, there’s no reason why you should not feel in a movie. The view from the terrace is incredible. The interior looks are amazing.

The best view! I’ve been here a few times and each experience was unique and entertaining. I’ve been during the winter and summer. I enjoyed it most during warmer days. They open the outdoor area so the view is spectacular like something from a painting. The food was exquisite. Everything we ordered was oh lala! I recommend the seabass. 🤤 The staff super friendly. The price is a bit expensive compared to other restaurants in Istanbul, but, worth it!

Nice restaurant with a classy atmosphere and great service. I enjoyed the sushi rolls as a starter, but the lobster pasta was just average and not something I’d recommend. For dessert, the tiramisu was a bit too creamy, but the cheesecake was fantastic. Overall, a good spot with some hit-or-miss dishes.

Breathe taking views ... absolutely beautiful... the food was ok but not spectacular if I am being honest.. service was great .. so overall, it was a very good experience and recommended 👌

We visited this restaurant for the second time with my boyfriend, exactly a year after our first visit. Last June, 2023, we went to admire the sunset. The restaurant is very expensive, with an incredible view of the Bosphorus, which is especially beautiful in the evenings. The food, drinks, and service were all excellent. However, we were very disappointed by an upsetting experience: it turns out that waiters may sometimes try to cheat guests on the amount of alcohol consumed. I had two glasses of prosecco (I never drink more), and my boyfriend had eight. We were keeping track of the drinks, but at the end of the evening, we noticed that four extra glasses of prosecco were added to our bill — which we never ordered or consumed. It seemed that the waiter thought we wouldn't notice, assuming we weren't paying attention to the details. It’s a place where wealthy people often dine, and it felt like they might be used to overcharging. We called the manager over to explain the situation, but she insisted that my boyfriend had indeed drunk twelve glasses of prosecco. It was impossible to drink that much in just two hours, with slow service and multiple courses. The whole experience left a bad taste, even though we didn't make a scene and paid the bill. The next morning, a local resident at our hotel (we stayed at the Hyatt) told us that this restaurant is notorious for overcharging guests. It’s unfortunate because the restaurant has a lot of potential, but this kind of dishonest practice really tarnished the experience. If you decide to visit, be vigilant and keep track of your drinks.

Nice to try but not the best. Won’t return. So we came at 3pm to an empty place. We had sushi, noodles & appetizers. Finished the day with Turkish coffee and dessert. The sushi roll was nice, the service wasn’t equivalent to a fine dine place. The waiters ate barely speaking English and if they didn’t understand you, they would just walk by with no words. Weird behavior. Anyway, the dessert not that good, if you wish to eat a dessert spare the calories to have it in a better place. At 4pm, we were bombarded with their evening shift preparations. Too many waiters moving around, tables & chairs are being moved around. So inconvenient. I would suggest they state they are closed from 4 to 6 to do their evening preparations rather than receiving guests and annoying them this much.

The least I can say is that it was an amazing experience. We started with 2 amuse-bouche starters, yellow tail and salmon shashimi in addition to the beef tartare. Followed by 3 sushi rolls including a crispy rice truffle set.

As a dedicated gourmet who has been visiting Sunset Grill Istanbul for years, I can attest to its enduring excellence. Despite having lived outside Turkey for the past 11 years, my return visits to this restaurant have always been a highlight. The recent experience was no exception. The octopus, served with sweet potato purée, olives, and lemon, was impeccable. The octopus was tender and well-seasoned, and the sweet potato purée provided a smooth, rich base that perfectly complemented the dish’s briny accents. The T-bone steak was a masterclass in perfection. Juicy and flavorful with a perfectly charred exterior, it continues to be one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Each bite was a reminder of the restaurant’s unwavering commitment to quality. To finish, the chocolate soufflé was simply divine—light, airy, and rich with a molten center that was the ideal end to a superb meal. The restaurant’s exceptional view only enhances the experience, making each visit feel special. Sunset Grill Istanbul consistently delivers outstanding dishes and an unforgettable ambiance, proving that its fabulous reputation remains well-deserved, even after all these years

Terrible experience at this place! Food was below average, and incredibly small amount. They switched the 100 bottle of wine we ordered to a 1000 bottle of wine! We live in the USA and have US dollar currency. We didn't pay attention to covert their money to dollars when the bill arrived. Long story short our tab came to over $1000 for some basic average food. Never in my life have I been scammed like Americans watch out for this place !

THE SUN HAS SET: What a disappointment! This was one of my favorite restaurants in Istanbul, but the food quality has gone down considerably. I had spaghetti with sea food. Boring and dry without any sauce. No spice. I then tried yougart kebab and it came almost without yougart. When I asked for some, they brought some tasteless yougart sauce. One of the nicest restaurants in Istanbul can't do a kebab right? While this was always a ritzy fusion place, offering everything from Italian, to Sushi, to steaks and Turkish, the food just wasn't anywhere near good enough for the prices. Istanbul is a city of great restaurants and this one no longer is! In terms of atmosphere and the beautiful views; however, Sunset is still great. Oh, yeah, the $7.00 fee requested from the coat check girl was annoying too.

We were here for my birthday on 30th August 2023. The view, location is great. Whe I first stepped into the venue I felt like I have arrived at Sunset Düğün Salonu or Sunset Yemekhanesi! English has not the words with exact meaning. So I have to use Turkish words. The tables are so many and so close to eachother that you cannot experience any privacy. That is not acceptable for me for a fine dining restaurant. That was not the expectation. The service, the food was perfect. The amount of tables are over the limits of the venue, sorry. The restaurant needs renovation, the chairs, umbrella needs to be replaced. They look old fashion and dirty. Expectations and customer satisfaction was not met but it was a fine night for us. Really liked the service... the food and drinks were also really good. Plenty of options to choose from, the only thing we didn't like is being sat near tons of smokers lol they really need to have a separate sections for those who don't smoke now that the space is a closed rather than open during summer and spring months.

Overpriced, tourist trap, food was mediocre and service was good but a bit too much which was annoying.

One of the classiest restaurants I've been to and most definitely the best in Turkey. I would recommend dressing smart.

The worst sushi I've ever had in my life. We ordered 60 prices and we couldn't even eat one!! It wasn't fresh, too pricey and the manager didn't take responsibility for the meal.

Very disappointed with my experience - what a bad use of such a great space. Starting from the service; it truly was terrible. When asked for recommendations he seemed annoyed and was not at all helpful. It was impossible to gain our waiters attention. Water was not filled. Communication and attitude was bad. Was ignored during the dinner and the waiter was only around the table when it was time to tip him which he made it very awkward by just standing behind our table and staring at the check. The food - i wished to lose my sense of smell and taste for the first time during this pandemic. Here is a detailed list; Beef carpaccio- literally did not know it was even possible to do such bad job - I cannot review this dish based on carpaccio because it sure did not taste anything like it. It was thicker meat that smelled very weird and had a dark brown color. After swallowing the bite you smell something off. Could only take one bite - we both got disgusted. Rock shrimp tempura: this was listed with a different name - was edible but also was the worst rock shrimp tempura I've ever had. Burrata: not specifically delicious but tasted like a burrata. The dish was kind of boring. Sushi: smelled and tasted very fishy- could not eat - I swear to you rite aid pharmacy sushi is better. Creme brûlée: did not get the tiramisu since its my favorite dessert and it probably wouldn't be after this meal if i had it. Had very low expectations but turns out my low expectations were still way too high for the lavender creme brûlée . It tasted nothing like creme brûlée- more like a liquid vanilla pudding that literally has no aroma of lavender but they stick this branch of lavender in the middle of your "creme brûlée" Could only take a small bite. Summary; I'm no food critic but this place is such shame in the history of restaurants. For me the meal was $150 or something- which is cheap for the US. (. In the scale of "high end" restaurants. ) I mean the meal would not worth 10 bucks don't get me wrong However for the people who live here is damn offensive. About 1100 tl. Left about 70 percent of the food. Glad smashed the bread and butter in the beginning so was not starving when we left but was still hungry.

Great Restaurant !! Service and food was impeccable. The Restaurant's location is amazing with views of the Bosphorus that are just breathtaking. The only thing I did not like was the smoking in the eating area. Being from the USA where smoking is no longer allowed in most places, I found it to be a bit annoying, but didn't keep me from enjoying all this restaurant has to offer. I highly recommend it.

Terribly slow service and food was very basic yet very pricey only redeeming quality was the view.

Nice, fancy restaurant with a good view of the bosphorus. Amazing sushi, but the other food feel overpriced for taste and quality that you can find elsewhere in equally good but less pricy restaurants. One thing I was unhappy with was the BBQ Chicken I ordered, which was supposed to be served with mashed potatoes and vegetables on the side according to the menu - it arrived with fries instead, but upon asking the waiter about it, they delivered the vegetables with no extra charge. It's not something I would normally worry about, but for its price it really needed more to really hit the mark. Overall good food, a bit expensive, kind and helpful staff.

Great place to go eat some good food and be in an atmosphere of a decent behaving crowd. The views of Istanbul and the water are out of this world. I ordered the lamb and it was the right amount of food that was cooked to perfection. The other bonus is the price. Although the American dollar is worth more than the Lira, it was fairly reasonable in price for what we had. Definitely a good place to enjoy the night with good food.

Everyone was wonderful. Excellent staff. Very helpful. We had great food. A rib steak for two was beautifully prepared and delicious. and wild mushroom risotto was very nice. Crunchy chocolate mousse was beautiful and lovely to eat. View is amazing and the ambiance was elegant but comfortable.

We are from California. We had a reservation there, when we got there the place was empty. The hostess was very rude and wouldn't give us a decent table even though we had a reservation. We left because of her ugly bad attitude. Zero is the rating.

This place is phenomenal! The view is incredible, especially in the evening!

One star for the spectacular view. Zero stars for quality of food and service. Went in for a nice dinner with the family while visiting Istanbul. I ordered the Balinese sea bass and was expecting the rich, aromatic flavors of Thai cuisine with lemongrass and star anise. Unfortunately, the whole dish just fell short. The sea bass was cooked well but the broth was under seasoned and just fell flat. Others in my party ordered the grilled sea bass and that, too, was sorely under seasoned and just bland. Really disappointing considering each dish was $120 TL. We also ordered the artichoke salad. The artichokes were deep fried in tempura and laid on a bed of greens. The avocado was definitely the highlight. The tempura batter was oily and bland, and just did not seem to merry with the flavors of avocado and citrusy greens. Worst part of all, they charged us an extra $30 TL for what on the receipt said "sushi", but no one ordered sushi. When I asked, the server said it was for the bread. They charged another extra $10 for the tomato sauce and yogurt dipping sauce they brought with the bread. Apparently those things are not complimentary? If not, why do they bring them to the table without asking if we want it? Very shady. I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody unless they are going for the view only.

Only went there for business lunches. The food never disappoints, the decor is ok and the service is good. It is a bit pricey but I think Sunset is a good choice for business lunches/diners or date nights. I hear Sunset is best experienced in the evening.

Sunset Restaurant is one of the most spectacular Restaurants in Istanbul by far! Chosen by many globetrotters and famous international people as THE Restaurant to visit. To begin with, the view is grand especially on a summer night, reaching from one bridge to the other, stretching out over a hill overlooking the Bosphorus. It is a fancy restaurant and therefore also pricy, but if you want to spoil yourself: this is the place to do it! When you have dinner here, you will feel VIP, because the staff is very friendly and attentive which makes you feel very happy. Its bar is very good as well with many famous local DJ's playing music. It is especially very romantic during full-moon, with the moonlight shining down. The food is amazing, including its normal Menu and the Sushi Menu as well. Some of the world's greatest Sushi Chefs have been hosted at the Restaurant to display their expertise. The menu also displays a large array of world class wines! Most of the staff also speaks English and is very very attentive, which means that you never wait too long for your food to arrive or for someone to be around when you want something... This is a VERY big bonus, as in such large Restaurants usually sometimes you may drown in the mass if the waiters are not a) a lot and b) pay attention. Bingo! There is a reason the Restaurant has hosted many celebrities from Jennifer Lopez to Paris Hilton and many many more...

Terrible service tonight!!!! Ordered an app and 20 min later they informed me it was not available. Can't understand why it took 20 minutes to inform us of the issue. It was very disappointing they never made up for it the rest of the night. The atmosphere is very good but when the service sucks there is no excuse.

An incredible place! The view is absolutely stunning and we couldn't stop staring at it during our dinner. Sunset is a really upscale (slightly overpriced) restaurant in Turkey with a great vibe. The music was relaxing and the restaurant even had heat lamps for the slightly breezy weather. The food was perfect--my appetizer of pan sauteed scallops with pesto and balsamic sauce were delicious and the asparagus that came with them was quite possibly the best I've had. The Red Snapper I had for an entree was also great. We couldn't stop talking about the beautiful view and romantic vibe--I would love to come back here next time I'm in Istanbul!

Food was ok,due to cold weather out side sitting was not opened yet,so nothing special to go back again.

Beautiful view like most Istanbul restaurants , nice ambience , however terrible service not so great food, sounds familiar??. This so called Michelin star chef needs to go to school again.Serving an entrée that was served late and was cold and burned doesn't deserve michelin status.There was only 1 great dish Citir Prawns ( appetizer) well guess what, i bet that was cooked by that Japanese chef not their regular so called chef because rest of the food was not good at all . If you like to eat real food Please go to some other place there are so many places in Istanbul with real food. Buy the way do not complain to manager all he does is offer your a glass of champagne , really really is this your customer service?

The food was good and the view awesome, however we didn't really like the behavior of some of the staff ! It was disappointing, specially for such a nice place. We'll choose a restaurant with a nicer staff the next time.

The service and views are amazing at Sunset Grill and Bar! This is the perfect restaurant for a first night dinner in Istanbul as it sets a wonderful tone for your trip. While the restaurant is an Asian and Turkish restaurant we were in the mood for Turkish and therefore avoided the Asian menu items. We sipped rose all evening and split 2 appetizers, the grilled octopus and the vegetarian mezze platter. In addition we split a delicious goat cheese, walnut, beets, and pomegranate dressing. For our main course we split lamb over eggplant puree which was DELICIOUS! I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!

Amazing view of the city with great food and drinks. Perfect location for happy hour or dates.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the world. The view is magical and the food is excellent. It great for any special occasion or to impress your business clients.

If You're a Foreigner, Stay Away! If you're a nouveau-riche Istanbulite, you'll probably enjoy this place. But if you're a tourist or an expat, do not expect any hospitality or service. The food is average at sunset, the view is nice (that is if you get the right table), but what is horrible is the service. We made a reservation more than two weeks before we went there on February 12, 2016 with a friend who was visiting from Toronto. When we booked our table, we asked and were promised a table with a nice view (in the section where the sushi bar is located). When we arrived, however, we were given a table in the nearly empty front section of the restaurant with a blocked view. We naturally asked to be moved to the section with the sushi bar, where there were several empty tables, but were told they were booked for "others" (read them are Turkish friends). After a long wait and a lot of back and forth, we were Offered a table right next to the entrance of the main room. While we were hesitating Whether we should take it or not, they gave it to another group. In the meantime to, they also gave away our original table. Throughout this saga, the manager is never apologized for their mistake, nor did he offer us a complimentary drink. Instead, he treated us with disdain and was outright rude. We finally left, frustrated, disappointed and hungry. The moral of the story: if you're a foreigner do not expect hospitality and etiquette at Sunset.

Coming from Miami I love this place it has a grate atmosphere food , wine everything was excellent !!! i had an amazing experience i will come back to this place in my next trip to Istanbul , if you are a turist or not is a must place to go !!!is elegant !!!
