Scrolling through Google Maps for soba in Shibuya and noticed a familiar name pop up. I wondered if it could be that Suba — a standing soba shop from Kyoto, had opened a location in Tokyo and decided to stop in after some shopping.
I got the chicken tempura soba which came with a mound of chilli spices & chilli crisp that gave the soba a super fragrant aroma. So fragrant that I noticed other diners’ heads turn as I walked by trying to balance the bowl while walking on the uneven steps (I guess it’s part of the experience). The soba itself was perfection — the chilli surprisingly wasn’t spicy at all (for someone who can handle spice) but I was impressed that despite the low spice level, the chilli still gave a lot of flavour. You can also grab a glass of natural wine from upstairs to go with your meal.
I should mention that this place is very aesthetic. Industrial & minimalistic, it’s a great spot for a stylish, casual and quick dining experience.

One of the best meals in my two weeks here. Very cool vibe inside too.
