Ah, Strandbad Mythenquai. How civilized, to stroll its generous grounds now that the gates are open - one can almost hear the gentle lapping of the lake, the laughter of children, the distant sizzle of a grill. When the entrance fee is required, the space becomes positively expansive, as if designed for a more discerning palate, one that appreciates room to breathe, to observe, to savor.
Yet, I confess, the local “bad culture” eludes me—perhaps my tastes are not yet acclimatized to Zurich’s particular flavor of leisure. Still, the sand is soft, the water inviting, and the people-watching exquisite. Four stars, with a hint of anticipation for the day I truly acquire the .. taste :)
