Tucked in the heart of NYC, this iconic bookstore spans four floors of new, used, and rare finds, plus cozy spots to sip coffee and browse unique gifts.
"Strand is a book lovers Eden. This independent New York Icon of literature has stood the test of time against big chains and deep pockets jocking for the space. Strand stands tall for all of us who believe reading is a fundamental need." - Visualized
"New books, used books, rare books, out of print books… today, the Strand carries over 2.5 million of them. You can buy “books by the foot” to fill your library, rent them for sets, stage, or photo shots, or sell them your books for cash or store credit. The last of the Greenwich Village “book row”, it was named after the famous London street where all the publishers were located." - 345 Design
"With its towering stacks, filled with more than 2.5 million titles, this 94-year-old bookstore is less neighborhood haunt and more globally recognized institution. You could call the Strand's employees tour guides, considering their deft ability to find the exact title you're looking for and recommend a book you may not have otherwise plucked from the shelves. The store will make you question why you don’t read more; and chances are you won’t leave empty-handed." - Melissa Liebling-Goldberg, Alex Erdekian
"The Strand Bookstore If you are a fan of the old-fashioned brick-and-mortar bookstore, then you'll be in heaven at the Strand, on Broadway at 12th Street. The store boasts that it has 2.5 million books, or 18 miles of them. While we aren't sure how they measured books in miles, if you are looking for something to read, you are sure to find it here on one of the emporium's two levels. Most of the goods here are used, though the Strand also has new copies of all the latest popular releases. There is also a separate rare-book room for serious collectors in the building next door (ask at the information desk for directions). The Strand also hosts regular signings and readings."
