"StolenSpace gallery exhibits a genre of work that has been variously labeled as 'Underground Art', 'Street Art' or 'Urban Art'. None of these terms satisfactorily represent their artists' work and so their preference is not to pigeonhole it. Some of their artists have a background in graffiti and street art, but not exclusively - all however, are influenced by society's prevailing subculture where there are few rules and anything is possible. StolenSpace lets in the life-giving vitality of this environment that has long been overlooked by galleries and museums." - Sennep

A small Gallery at the start of Brick Lane and uses the space cleverley. The lighting is good and the Artwork is really interesting. While you are there check out the Whitechapel Gallery just around the corner. Aldgate East underground is nearest.

Went to see Ricardo Cavolo's HyperTeen exhibition. It's the last day to see it, got there a bit late (they close early to pack up installations), called and the curator was nice enough to let me in anyways! Very grateful or I would have missed it entirely! Staff are super friendly, they were nice enough to send me the playlist for the exhibition and follow me on insta too! Amazing experience for my first time in a gallery :)

A stunning collection of new works by the artist duo Kai & Sunny. If these don't brighten up your day then nothing will! Highly recommend.

This gallery had so many beautiful pieces of art. I went there whilst on a school trip with students and a couple of teachers. Though the students were there to see the pieces of art and reference them in their sketchbook(s), it was amazing to see beautiful political pieces of work

Lovely Gallery, friendly staff some nice Obey prints for sale. Bought an Obey print "Raise the Level", and the new D-Face The Monograph signed, very happy with my purchases

Yelp
This is a fantastic little art gallery which shows exciting art by contemporary artists such as DFace, Mr Jago, Meryl O'Donoghue and many other great up and coming and established artists. The gallery space itself is quite small. The staff are very friendly and always wiling to help. Private views are usually on a Thursday night here. It's located just off Brick Lane. check it out the next time you are in the East End.

Yelp
This is the first gallery I went to as a new resident to London - and, as a total street/guerrilla art enthusiast, I was really impressed. The gallery is in East London's bustling Brick Lane, sitting quite contentedly in a dank, graffiti-covered alley that on gallery opening nights is filled with hip-looking young folk (many who are also surreptitiously brandishing paste-up materials and paint pens, bent on tagging every open space when no one is looking). The night I went here was the RSVP preview of Stolen Space's "Wild Fantasies" show, which features several posters of the "Dont Panic" tradition - many of which were created by our generation's most well-known street artists, from D*Face to Banksy to Shepard Fairey of OBEY/Obama poster fame. Free drinks abounded and the place was packed to the rafters. Overall, it's obvious that this gallery has a true appreciation for the ethos and philosophy behind street art - many of its founders are street artists themselves. Squabbles about the rammifications of the commercialization of street art aside, this is a reputable spot to sample the work of respected urban/street artists with a political, street-originated bent. A tip: be sure to grab a Don't Panic promo package on your way out. They're free and distributed around the city, but this gallery is the source. They're filled with flyers and posters for London street/nightlife events coming up.

Yelp
This is a brilliant art gallery around The Old Truman Brewery. It has regular shows which you can check on their website - http://stolenspace.com It shows modern art and street art. Stolenspace is a short walk up from Aldgate East and along from Liverpool Street.

Yelp
What? I haven't reviewed StolenSpace yet? This is one of my favourite gallery spaces in London. I've been coming here for years and reckon since 07 I've caught more of their exhibitions than I've missed. Killer shows from the likes of Word to Mother, D*Face, Dan Witz and Shepard Fairey make this East End gallery a major player in the world of street art. The Old Truman Brewery location is convenient and nearby lots of other cultural and arty spots as well as loads of bars and restaurants. The staff are friendly. The art is exceptional.

Yelp
As a local and street art enthusiast, i've been checking out StolenSpace Gallery on a regular basis and have never been disappointed! While the gallery is on East London's trendy Brick Lane, it's just a stone throw away from the craziness. Grab a bagel from the infamous Bagel shop (the one with the red sign. Don't be fooled by the lines) and skim your eyes over the hundreds of street pastings and stencils along the way. You'll find works from famous contemporary artists to local ones who are just becoming established. The last time I went, I was greeted by an interactive bird-talking sculpture surrounded by paper trees. If that's not kooky, then I don't know what is. If you're in the area, take a detour to this humble gallery. While peering through the windows of the gallery on my way home, I saw them installing the next exhibition by Japanese artist, Haroshi who turns skateboard decks into beautiful sculptures. *art jizz*

Yelp
I was exploring my new neighbourhood and found this small gallery. I found the LAX/LHR show quite impressive. Some very noticeable pieces of art including some I'd like to have at home if I could afford it :) I'll definitely come back to see future shows.

Yelp
If you happen to walking along Brick Lane anyway, this exhibition space above the Old Truman Brewery is well worth a quick nosey into. Entrance is free and the viewing space is huge, which allows the bright young things that showcase their works here to install some pretty impressive pieces of work. Of course what you will see depends on which artist is flavour of the month, but they tend to be in key with the vibe of the area. I think the converted industrial space gallery thing is definitely the right kind idea for the area, but in reality the mixture of natual and spot lighting might not always present the works in the best possible light. Worthy of a few moments of your time though.

Yelp
Great modern art gallery just off brick lane, well worth a visit for a peek at the modern art world's upcoming talent. The gallery regularly changes its feature artists and entrance to all exhibitions is free. This month stolen space is closed as the gallery is expanding, but be sure to visit in Feb. http://www.stolenspace.com
