Tucked away past a hair salon, StEight is a cozy speakeasy where friendly bartenders serve unique cocktails and a varied sake selection amidst vintage vibes.
One of my favorite recent spots for sure! Finding it is half the fun. It's a cozy and intimate space for fun Japanese-themed cocktails. Some favorites were the Sakura Smoke Old Fashioned and the Ma-Chet Baker. The staff is chill, super friendly and kind.

Lovely Japanese bar serving some great cocktails with vinyl records playing and a very lively atmosphere-- easily became my favorite bar in the Lower East Side!
Sake Flight: the bartenders are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and will cater to your preferences! We asked for something adventurous and he delivered with a flight with a good variety!
I've only tried 3 of their cocktails but I'm convinced you cant go wrong!
5/5 Matchet Baker -- smooth and earthy genmaicha
5/5 Oolong Punch -- light and fruity
5/5 Chaos Belly -- citrusy on first sip and ends with a sweet blueberry flavor

StEight was a sweet place with an intimate (⚠︎ Space is narrow and small) and home-y feel. The cocktails were nice and the components of each worked well together. The bartender was very knowledgable and attentive. Would love to visit again (Need to try the oolong punch that was unfortunately not available at the time!)

I was excited to visit the bar, but we weren’t greeted and had to seat ourselves. We had to find our own seats, and when we tried to get his attention, he seemed more engaged in conversation with his friends and ignored us
When we finally got his attention, I asked about their selection of plum wine, and he vaguely responded, saying there were “a bunch of them.” He then showed me his personal favorite, but it wasn’t to my taste. When I asked for other options, he handed me three bottles and went back to chatting with his friends.
While the bar has a great drink selection and atmosphere, the inattentive service made me feel unwelcome—so I won’t be back 😔

Past the Hair salon, you'll find a hidden bar. You can enjoy a wide variety of sake and delicious cocktails. The bartenders are very friendly and the atmosphere is great! The vintage interior and jazz music make it a great space! I definitely want to go again!

Nice, intimate vibe. Great music and drinks, the spicy plum wine is incredible. I’ve only been here when Zach was bartending, but I can assume the other bartenders are just as knowledgeable. Definitely coming back!

Great speakeasy if you're looking to grab a drink in a fun, cozy environment! The ambiance is awesome, eclectically decorated and clearly reminiscent of an old school Japanese coffeeshop or neighborhood bar. They've got a nice variety of sakes and the bartenders are happy to make suggestions if you're unsure what to order. I had the sake flight, which was great for getting an introduction to sake, and will have to come back to try some of their unique cocktails

Great facade for a speakeasy. The vibes are fantastic. Good music, good space. Chris is a phenomenal bartender, very personable, extremely talented, and immensely knowledgeable about the sake. Immaculate experience. Def a new favorite
