"See the Original Starbucks For many Seattle visitors, the original Starbucks is a Pike Place Market highlight. If you're a Starbucks devotee, take a quick peek inside to get a glimpse of history. The line will likely snake out the door and down the block, so if you don't want to wait, head around the corner to the Starbucks at First Avenue and Pike Street. This gorgeous location is LEED Gold-certified, with interesting touches like a bar made from scrap leather, salvaged wood tables and doors, recycled slate boards, and a wall tapestry fashioned from coffee bags. Don't worry: You can get all the same souvenir mug and gifts here—without the long line."

"Everything is earthy brown at the holy site of the first Starbucks, which I imagine is generally what the 1970s were like. The worn wood counters are original. It still has the original (brown) logo, the full-body siren with the nipples, and no seating. But now there are nautical-inspired ropes set up outside, for crowd control, and a designated barista whose job is to help the never-ending stream of Starbucks global pilgrims choose their exclusive 1912 Pike Place merch..." - Rachel Sugar

Line was extremely long. Took about thirty to forty minutes to go and order. When I got inside, the service was very friendly and it didn’t take too long to receive my order. I got a caramel ribbon crunch and it was the best coffee I have ever tasted. It was creamy and refreshing. They put a lot of caramel and whipped cream. Truly amazing. The atmosphere inside was very nice and authentic. So wonderful to visit the first Starbucks.

Visiting the first ever Starbucks store was a wonderful experience all coffee and Starbucks lovers should add to their stop while in Seattle. It is much smaller than I thought it would be but still a very cool experience and it gets busy. I recommend going right when they open (as we did). The staff are so welcoming and friendly. I loved that the gentleman who took our order made small talk with us and shared some cool personal stories, it was much appreciated and he added much joy to our day. There are many tumblers/souvenirs for purchase.

I finally made it to the original Starbucks at Pike Place — and it was way better than I expected. We went on a Sunday evening around 7 PM, and the line was surprisingly short. We only waited about 5 minutes, and by 7:40, people were walking straight in. So if you’re hoping to avoid the long daytime lines, evening is honestly the best time to go. The store still has its old-school charm — it’s small, cozy, and full of history. You can feel that this is where it all started. The staff were super friendly, and despite how busy they usually get, they still took the time to answer questions and chat a bit. I was really excited to see that they’re offering a Cantaloupe Milk Tea right now — and it’s only available at this location. I had to try it. It’s light, refreshing, and not too sweet. Definitely something different from your usual Starbucks drinks. They also have exclusive merch you can’t find anywhere else. I picked up two limited-edition mugs, both with the classic Pike Place design. Some of the popular styles do sell out, so it’s smart to browse the shelves early. All in all, this was one of the highlights of our Seattle trip. We got great drinks, cool souvenirs, and a bit of Starbucks history — without the insane line. Worth a visit, even if you’re just a casual fan.

I finally visited the original Starbucks at Pike Place Market and it was absolutely worth the wait! Yes, the line was long (about 25 minutes), but the atmosphere and the historical vibe made it a fun experience. The baristas were friendly, energetic, and clearly proud to be part of this iconic location. The store itself is small and cozy, preserving much of its original charm from 1971. I loved seeing the vintage logo and picking up some exclusive mugs that are only sold here. I ordered a seasonal drink that was only available at this location and it was delicious! If you’re a Starbucks fan (or even just curious), this spot is a must-visit while you’re in Seattle. It’s not just about the coffee it’s about being part of a little piece of coffee history.

Google
The line to get in to the first Starbucks was long, but it moved quickly. The earlier you go, the better. I think we waited about 15-20 minutes max. The staff was really nice. There is a lot of Pike Place exclusive merchandise to choose from. There are no seats inside, everything is to go only. Parking is easily found nearby in the parking garages. Restrooms are a short walking distance away.

I think this place is overrated. I guess if you want to order from the first Starbucks, it’s cool. They have a “special roast” that’s only available at this location and one other that you can get for an extra $1 per drink so we decided we might as well but it tastes exactly the same as every other Starbucks coffee, You get in line to order then get in another small area line to wait for your drink and then quickly ushered out of the store. The vibe is very amusement park ish. I would never go back and the line is absolutely wild for the questionable service received.

Whenever I visit Seattle, make it a point to drop by Pike Place Market. While I don’t always get coffee here, I occasionally find myself standing in line to enjoy a pour-over coffee. However, I tend to visit the Starbucks Reserve Roastery more often. I prefer the relaxed atmosphere and the opportunity to sit back and enjoy my coffee there. That said, sometimes I see the line of people waiting at the original Starbucks store and wonder why they’re doing it—and then feel the urge to join them. So, I ended up queuing and getting coffee again. There's something about the charm of the very first store of a major chain, with its original Starbucks logo and the quotes from Howard Schultz on the wall, that feels inspiring. It’s like recharging my energy. Perhaps, it’s worth visiting at least once.

Google
There is always a line here, but it is worth visiting. They sell a lot of souvenirs that you can only get here, and they are all pretty nice. We did not buy any drink, but I assume they should taste similar to other stores. Recommend people coming.

Yelp
First Starbucks!! Had to visit while I was here!! I am such a coffee person and whenever I travel, I grab a Starbucks mug!!! Lines are long during the day, I would not be on a time schedule if you visit Pike market. Lots of street parking, it is hard to find during the day as this is a tourist spot. Lots of cool decor in the store. Definitely a must if you are a Starbucks fan!! I will be back!!

Jayne Y.

Yelp
Visiting the Original Starbucks at Pike Place Market was the perfect way to start our day! The store is small in comparison to most Starbucks locations, with a wall of merchandise on the left side, and an ordering counter on the right. The iconic logo here is slightly different from the one seen at the other locations, which makes the experience a unique one. We arrived around 9 AM, and there was already a line forming outside the entrance. It moved fairly quickly and the employee was super friendly and welcoming! Honestly, the store is not impressive-looking but it's definitely a must-visit for Starbucks fans. The merchandise is unique, featuring "first store" or "Pike Place" designs that you won't find anywhere else. I didn't order a drink, but I bought a lot of merchandise. Every single employee in this store was amazing - they were so helpful and happy to be there! We enjoyed our visit! :)

Yelp
When in Rome....I mean, when in Seattle, everyone needs to stop at the original Starbucks location....and I'm going to tell you exactly how to do it step by step... 1. Get in line. There's always a line, but it moves quickly. 2. Send your partner a few doors down to get piroshkies so you can both eat while you wait. 3. Wait for the friendly employee at the door to guide you in. 4. Order two cups of their 'special reserve' coffee with the friendly barista. 5. Pay. 6. Drink said coffee and comment how it tastes like regular ol' Starbucks coffee and you're glad you went to the 'original' location...but you didn't taste anything special in your cup o' joe. You're welcome.

Val R.

Yelp
Had to make a stop by the original Starbucks . It's a small counter for ordering and the baristas to make drinks . The other side is a shelf for Starbucks memorabilia . All drinks and store purchases (cups, mugs etc) are purchased at the counter . The cashier will bring the guest the merchandise (mugs , cups etc ) including any drink orders from behind the counter . There is a wait and line to enter but it goes pretty fast . It's a piece of history I would recommend. You can only purchase original Starbucks merchandise from this store. You cannot purchase 1912 merchandise at other Starbucks locations .

Daphne S.

Yelp
I highly recommend going right when they open or before Pike Place market opens. Usually during the day there is a very long line. It's the same Starbucks you get anywhere. It is worth a visit and staff are exceedingly nice. The coffee itself was good, but also as expected. the inside doesn't have any seating. It's also very clean. This is the first Starbucks.

Jazmin T.

Yelp
As a former Starbucks employee in my youthful days, this was a must see! You can't come to Seattle and not see the OG Bux!! We got to Pikes early for breakfast that day and we divided and conquered, which I'm glad we did! One of us went for breakfast while the other stood in line, which was also perfect timing, bc the line wasn't yet out of control!!! If you're going to come, recommend to get there early, we only waited 10-15 mins in the line. When we got there, they have a line setup outside the store, so grab your spot, and then they have someone greeting you at the entrance managing the crowd to ensure there aren't too many people in the store at once, which is great so you can get in all your obligatory photos and have space in the shop to actually shop! They don't carry specialty drinks at this store, so if you're looking for that, head to the reserve! Which we had gone to prior, and they def have lots of specialty drinks and food! Love that I got to check this off the bucket list!

Yelp
When we moved to WA I knew I HAD to visit the original Starbucks and it was something we made it a point to do very early on. The day we went there was a line out the door but we waited and enjoyed the surroundings. The setting is very close to Pike Place market and it's such a fun little area. The drinks were excellent and I cannot wait to go back to visit.

Vu N.

Yelp
It's cool to say you've been to the original Starbucks, but other than the historical significance, it's pretty average. The drinks are the same as any other Starbucks, and the line can get ridiculously long. The interior has some charm, but it's very small and crowded. Worth a quick stop for the experience if you're nearby.

Alyssa A.

Yelp
While a regular Starbucks typically wouldn't earn a 5 star from me, taking into account that this is the first Starbucks - Starbucks really brings out all the stops. They've created a whole aesthetic around it being the first Starbucks with the original signage and special merch just for this location. They also had unique drinks that we only available here and a couple other Seattle locations. Their Amaretto Cherry Cold Brew is so delicious - shame is one of those limited availability drinks! The blended strawberry lemonade refresher is also great - not sure if this is limited to this location or not. The line is LONG here. If you're just coming for your coffee, I'd go elsewhere. If you're coming to experience the first Starbucks, then I would stay. We waited about 20-30 minutes, but the line moves well as they have friendly staff outside to speak with you. They even had a barista come out with samples of PSL for us to try while we waited. Overall, it's a fun experience if you're a Starbucks fan. If you just want a quick coffee, not the spot. If you like Starbucks, expect a wait but you will enjoy.

Yelp
Even though they sell espresso drinks here, this is really more of a tourist attraction. You can tell by the insanely long line in front of Pike Place Market and the crowds of people trying to get selfies. We all know Starbucks is the largest coffeehouse chain in the world. They are everywhere and in many countries. When Starbucks first opened, they only sold bulk coffee, spices and tea. They then added an espresso bar in 1987 and started selling brewed coffee and espresso drinks. The rest is history. This location at 1912 Pike Place is home to the original Starbucks. Or at least that is what the Starbucks website tells you. It is actually the oldest standing Starbucks, not the original. The original Starbucks opened on March 30, 1971 just a block away from here and is no longer in existence. A few other locations opened and closed before this Starbucks location opened in 1976. The Starbucks name was inspired by the first mate's name in the classic tale Moby-Dick. I have visited this location many times in the past and even once ordered a drink from here after waiting in line. There are some cool things about this location. It has mostly kept its early appearance over the years. Even though the Starbucks logo has changed over time, the original siren can still be seen on the window of the store. Inside of the store are the original brass labels from the bulk coffee bins that they used during their first year. This Pike Place store is one of the only Starbucks locations in the world that does not serve food. The original lease wouldn't allow them to sell food and they have kept that tradition all these years. Occasionally, I have seen local street musicians playing in front of the store. The street musicians are one of my favorite things about hanging out at Pike Place Market. For those that have never been to this iconic Starbucks store, it is still worth checking out to see one of the original locations where this massive company got its roots. Just prepare yourself for the wait if you want to order a drink from here. For me personally, the wait isn't worth it anymore for mediocre coffee.

Mat A.

Yelp
A hole-in-the-wall in Pike Place Market, but definitely one of the main attractions. Line was out of the door, but the service was efficient, and everyone got through in a timely manner. I love a funky cold brew, and they had a seasonal special going. Their Amaretto Cherry Cold Brew was decadent. If it's still on the menu, I highly recommend trying it. I'm sure you won't go wrong with their other seasonals, though. Would recommend if you need some caffeine while exploring Pike Place.

Armen Y.

Yelp
This is iconic first Starbucks store. It's very touristy and gets very crowded. It has some products that you cannot find in your typical Starbucks store, but if you want coffee it's the same thing.

Alex C.

Yelp
It's the original Starbucks so how can you not....until you realize the line goes until the end of the block. I had been to Pike's Place just to gawk at the line and chuckle, never thinking I would wait in line for the same drink I could get at any similarly named location. I finally took the plunge and ended up in the line, but all I can say is; GO EARLY (don't you need coffee in the mornings, anyway?) it's a win-win)! The line was half as long but still moved fairly quickly. Finally got in and there's nice doodads to look around at inside. Ended up purchasing a tumbler exclusive to this Starbucks along with my favorite drink. So the pros are it's a special, unique Starbucks with history to boot. The cons are, it's a very long line for a Starbucks. Everyone should do it once, but it's a one and done situation (or just mobile order it from another location!).

Bonnie Y.

Yelp
I came around 10am on a Saturday. Surprisingly the line to get in wasn't as long as expected. When i entered, i was kinda disappointed that it was quite small. Because there's a line, I felt rushed to just order and leave. It's nice to be able to get some pike place Starbucks merch though. The drink menu wasn't any different than other Starbucks. The barista who made our drinks was vey friendly and nice. Overall, it's a good one time experience for tourists but I wouldn't stand in line for it again.

Marianne C.

Yelp
We almost forgot about this oldest Starbucks cause of the overwhelming views around downtown Seattle. We're lucky to realize it when it was still very early and there was only a good amount of people i can handle being shoulder to shoulder with. They have souvenir's "menu" right when you walk in and managed to snag a couple of their new Seattle mugs. The staff are so lively early this morning helping, answering questions what you may have and just getting things going to not overcrowd the inside of the store. You don't have to buy your coffee here, there's Starbucks every 2 blocks around downtown but definitely a place to visit to see where it all started.

Gabe J.

Yelp
Yes, the wait is normally long. We went early on Sunday morning and the line wasn't too bad, it was around 8 am. Once you get in this tiny starbucks, it is still crowded with people in line and waiting for drinks or looking at stuff to buy. They give you a sheet with all the promotional items they sell, we got a few of them, the cups we bought seem to range $40-$50 each. The Baristas are very patient and fun once you get in and have the best attitude out of all the starbucks I've been too, they must pick the best of all the employees to work at this small but iconic shop since it's the OG of all starbucks. Great experience.

Francine L.

Yelp
First Starbucks store ever and of course if you are a fan you must come and try this place out right? Well, just a warning I tried to come here multiple times but the line was insane. So much so that I decided to try another day and then another day. Well finally I decided to come here at 7:30 AM and you know what, no line! Yeah. I walked on in to discover this place is quite simple and they do carry different Starbucks merch that you can only get at this location. Ended up buying a large tumbler saying it was the first store and I use it often.

Tina M.

Yelp
This is the original Starbucks! Located at Pike Place! There was a bit of a line but it wasn't too bad. Once you are inside the ordering process and the drinks were fast. There is a friendly staff member that calls you in and has you order your drinks and any special merch you would like. Then you have time to explore all the goodies and decor while you wait for your drinks to be made. Staff are super friendly and upbeat! My chai was made very well maybe the best, as the barista steamed in my cinnamon and then added some more on top. Very cool to see the original Starbucks location with the original mermaid design. I purchased a Starbucks mermaid sein cup that you can only purchase at this store.

Mary D.

Yelp
Was it cool, yes. Was it just amazing, no. Nonetheless this is definitely just a Starbucks that is probably the size of my living room. It was not a lot of room in the facility but they were able to handle it well. The most significant difference from other Starbucks is that this one has a signature drink, signature beans, merchandise that can't be bought any where else. We waited about 40 minutes on a Saturday around 9:15am. But, the line was moving at a decent speed. The service was great, all the baristas were nice and welcoming. I loved how they would toss the cups around.

Joyce T.

Yelp
Long line we waited for almost one hour under the hot sun, there's no shaded area or sun umbrella. The wait is bad but once you made it inside you will be trilled to see lot of special edition mugs and souvenirs. The staffs were super friendly and patience, she showed us the several mugs and didn't push us for decisions to buy. We bought the classic coffee mugs which we liked them so much. The rest of the souvenirs were quite expensive.

Alexis M.

Yelp
During my visit to Pike Place Market, I made sure to check out the first Starbucks across the street. I went on Sunday morning around 10:30 and waited about 25 to 30 minutes to get inside. Although the store's layout can't be changed, it felt a bit cramped. I didn't order a drink, so I can't comment on their quality. My main goal was to grab some merchandise, and I ended up buying a mug featuring designs of iconic Pike Place Market items. Despite the hectic atmosphere, I was in and out of the store quickly. The baristas were friendly and chatted with us upon entry, providing immediate assistance. The ambiance is quite different from other Starbucks locations, with a unique logo that sets it apart. If you're visiting Seattle, I definitely recommend stopping by.

Sisomvang S.

Yelp
The original Starbucks wasn't on my agenda because I wanted to go to the Starbucks reserve instead. However, due to Seattle's traffic and the reserve being out of the way, my friend suggested i go to the original Starbucks which was an experience in itself. The line was long, but not crazy long and moved swiftly and Pat sang me an original birthday song. It still has the original Starbucks logo and it's not like the Starbucks in Universal where they don't let you use your rewards. All the workers were friendly and encouraged me to use my birthday reward. I was gifted a $40 gc and was going to buy the Starbucks studded Tumbler for $35. However, I brought the wrong gc and settled on the $3.50 reusable cold cup. i misplaced my gc and my credit card didn't work because I was out of state, but the girl at the register was so patient. It's small and they toss cups when an order comes through. I got a drink you can only get at Pike Place- Cherry Amaretto Cold Brew Coffee and I HATED the taste. It's like a dark chocolate cherry cordial in a drink form, the worst drink I have ever gotten at Starbucks so suggestion for you, get what you usually get. Now, I can say I've been to the longest standing Starbucks and had a Pike Place Original special.

Raj B.

Yelp
I stopped by during my recent visit to check out one of the flagship stores for Starbucks. unlike others, I did not have to wait very long in line and did have a rather interesting experience inside the store different than the typical Starbucks. I would definitely recommend this for anyone that wants to check out a slightly different Starbucks experience inside the store.

Jessica W.

Yelp

Michele O.

Yelp
This is the first Starbucks, but ultimately it's still a Starbucks. The main differences include: - A massive line to get in - Special coffee beans and accessories you can't get anywhere else - Some decorations - The original logo - Lots of tourists (see point 1) I came with a group while we were being tourists in Seattle and stood in line with all the other tourists to get in. Once we were inside, it was a bit anti-climactic because like I said, it's just a Starbucks. But the people working there were very nice despite the constant waves of people, we took lots of pictures, I got some special beans for my mom, and we left. We were in line far longer than we were in the Starbucks. If you're really into Starbucks definitely check it out! If you aren't, save yourself the time in the line.

Stephanie E.

Yelp
So amazing to see the first Starbucks in the whole world! I am an avid coffee drinker, and my husband and I always loved the pike place flavor coffee. It's a small Starbucks, but the old coffee logo is still everywhere. I ordered the chili lime drink for a hot day, and it did not disappoint! I think it's definitely worth the visit, especially if you want merchandise with the old logo. There's always a long line, but it moves quickly - the staff is super friendly and understand that there are many tourists coming from around the world!

Austin Z.

Yelp
It is none other than any other coffee shop... you gotta come to this particular original location! They sold some very limited edition Seattle mugs and also sold tons of merchandise as well. Food: 4.6/5 I got a butter croissant and a passion iced tea latte with lavender-- call that a win-win honestly. To be very honest, both the croissant and the passion iced tea latte exceeded my expectations. The baristas made them slowly and with care, which I appreciated a lot, but I felt like the passion iced tea could have been steeped a little more given that the passion iced tea was already sweet by the tea bag. Service: 5/5 Phenomenal service. Despite a 25-minute wait to enter the store due to limited quantity and lots of inventory that they did have, the other partners at the front of the store maintained professionalism and escorted us in. Compared to coming here six years ago, I would say the service is the same -- but with LOTS more limited edition options that they don't normally have in the states LOL. Atmosphere: 3.9/5 The space is a little tight, and with the different tourists coming in and out of the store, I decided to dock a whole star due to the environment and tightness I had to experience. Some guests were not nice and threw major shade, which I absolutely did not appreciate at all. Overall, I'd definitely recommend going to the original location -- but do be prepared to go through a period of waiting in line especially with Spring Break lingering around for a while.

Nicole K.

Yelp
OG location but long wait to get in. It was hot when we stood in line but a staff came out with a sample drink for all of us to cool off. I got the shaken espresso with pumpkin cream cold foam and it was really good but probably the same at a different location. It's more for the experience and to buy the original location mug as a souvenir.

Mandy E.

Yelp
The first Starbucks! Pat was our cashier and she was absolutely amazing! Warm, bubbly, full of great historic information, and I honestly think she made the experience for us! We all absolutely loved her! The exclusive merchandise are all beautiful and it's hard to not want to take everything home! And of course the coffee is the classic, fantastic, full-bodied coffee you would expect from any Starbucks. Definitely a must-do when in Seattle!

Molly S.

Yelp
Finally made it! Even when the line is long outside they do a great job moving the line. You can pur merchandise specific to this location. I also tried the amaretto cherry cold brew specific to this location and it was delicious. Highly recommend visiting this popular tourist stop.

Kirsten J.

Yelp
A must visit for all Starbucks lovers. Founded in 1971 this retro store was the first one to open its doors. We were shocked by the line outside the door but it moved fairly quickly and in no time we were inside. This is not your typical Starbucks - even tho you are able purchase all usual drinks, most people come here to purchase the unique mugs that are only sold in this store.

Kelly Dues T.

Yelp
The original Starbucks. Pretty cool! My kids were excited to see it. There's no seating. The coffee selection is great with a larger than normal selection of mugs, thermals, etc. Along the Pike Place Market shopping area. Good service!

Matt G.

Yelp
I normally never go to Starbucks for my coffee. The very first Starbucks which was built and established 50 years ago at the outdoor Pike Place is one of the busier businesses. There is always a fat line just to get your beverage. It is a good thing I am an early bird and came here right when the shop opens at 6am. I ordered the grande coffee with a shot of espresso for an extra cost. It is better coffee at Pike Place than the other locations and easily woke me up. But I don't see the hype about it. Probably the baristas are passionate about making the beverage. I mean, it is only "coffee". However only beverages, coffee beans, and accessories are only sold at this historic location. If you want to grab a pastry with your beverage, you need to go to Bakery Nouveau, Piroshsky-Piroshsky or other fine food shops in the outdoor marketplace.

Andrea R.

Yelp
The first Starbucks! Very exciting little bucket list item. The staff was great and handed out water to us while waiting outside; it was very warm. The drink was made as expected. Loved the uniqueness of the inside and how it fit in to the market. You could tell it was original and didn't fit into the newer mold of Starbucks locations.

Bryan R.

Yelp
Loved this location! Our cashier was very friendly and had a lot of knowledge about this place. There was a bit of a line, but being able to experience the original Starbucks was awesome. Left with some exclusive merch and an exclusive latte which was yummy!

Allison R.

Yelp
I made a trip up to Seattle on labor day weekend kinda forgetting it was a holiday so this affects my review a little. While this location is maybe worth visiting at least once if you are in the area as it is the first Starbucks I personally enjoy the reserve better. It's about a mile walk (though mainly uphill), but there are easy options for lime bikes and scooters in Seattle with designated bike lanes which can be good options too. They have exclusive merchandise at this location with the original Starbucks logo, but I personally go for the drinks and the reserve has their own merchandise as well as unique drinks/food. I've seen good reviews about going earlier for less of a wait, but when I went down to pikes place after the reserve around 12 the line was massive so just something to keep in mind (though so was the reserve too). Previously I visited and it was exciting/surprising seeing how small the location truly is.

Miguel G.

Yelp
Went here because I had a gift card to use. Didn't realize it was the original until I got there and saw the crowd. Prices are kind of steep for a Starbucks-- $3.45 for "grande" drip. I would rather go to a local shop and pay similar for better quality. The coffee I got at Storyville was better the "Christmas" blonde.

Yelp
Recently I visited world's first Starbucks store opened on March 31, 1971, in Seattle, Washington. This original store is located at 1912 Pike Place Market. Being the first Starbucks, it's a must-visit spot for coffee enthusiasts and tourists alike. The store has retained much of its original design and layout, providing a nostalgic experience that reflects the company's humble beginnings. The vintage decor, including the original wooden counters and signage, adds to its charm. Exclusive merchandise are available only at this location, such as mugs, tumblers, and other souvenirs that commemorate the store's legacy. Due to its iconic status, the store is often very crowded, which can result in long lines and wait times. Overall, visiting the first Starbucks is a blend of enjoying a piece of coffee history and experiencing the bustling atmosphere of a popular tourist destination.

Yelp
Exceeded expectations. Obviously, very touristy and trendy, but honestly what the heck!!! Definitely a must see when in Seattle! Difficult to imagine that this Starbucks, at some point, was the only one of its kind. Service was fantastic. They always have a rotating barista coffee drink invention, most likely the only location that offers that unique experience!! They of course sell cups, coffee bags, and souvenirs that can only be purchased from this location. Very very busy. Most likely you will wait in a line. We went around noonish and we were in line for a little while. Not too bad, but some days might be busier!

Yelp
I wouldn't normally rate a Starbucks, but this is the oldest remaining Starbucks, so it's a bit of a pilgrimage. Because it's a tourist trap, you're going to have to pick your times. But if you find yourself like I did at 7am on a drizzly weekday morning, you may be in luck. I waited about the same amount of time that I would've at a normal Starbucks. The shop itself actually feels more like a local shop than a multinational corporation. They had a greeter at the door explaining how the souvenir shopping went (buy from the counter rather than grab from the display). And it just felt like the baristas were happier and more social than most of the chain locations I've been in. Now, because they have a lot of traffic and it is a small shop, it is very much a grab and go shop. But it's in a market, so hopefully it's nice enough outside to walk and sip. Or at least sip enough so you have enough energy to get back up that massive hill.

Yelp
Well, it is what it is. I can cross this off my bucket list. Before it was famous I'll bet this was a great place to get coffee. Now I'm not saying it was bad, but now it's a vacation box to tick off your itinerary. To quote the pirate I imagine was standing 100 people away from me, "aye there be a long line Polly." There's someone at the front controlling who goes in so while it's packed inside, it's not unreasonably so. You definitely can see the old decor. It's more interesting than the usual Starbucks and the employees all looked like they wanted to be there. Stop by once in your life.

Yelp
Original starbucks! I had to go! Now there was a line, but it wasn't terrible the staff is extremely efficient and do a good job of getting you in and out! I went twice and the second time my Carmel apple spice was just as wonderful as any other Starbucks! The staff was also just as friendly! The store is small so they regulate how many customers can go in at a time. It was a nice quick visit.

Yelp
Sunset Supper at Pike Place awarded me the opportunity to finally walk right inside this location and place a order. If you ever have the opportunity to visit this location definitely go for it, if you're like me waiting in line is a no go follow Pike Place Market for special events. The service was spectacular, the menu was limited due too the event, but I was able to purchase commemorative pike place exclusive tumblers for relatives whom live in the south. It's the first Starbucks, I definitely recommend!!

Yelp
This is not just A Starbucks, this is THEE Starbucks where it all began! Now, I love my local coffee shops; however, I also stayed Strawberry Açaí refresher, Iced toasted vanilla oatmilk shaken espresso, and lemon loafed DOWN! Also as of late, I've become very fond of collecting different Starbucks Tumblers when I travel, so when I planned my trip to Seattle this past summer, this place was at the top of my to-visit list. I was prepared for a super long wait time; however, I lucked out with visiting on a Tuesday during MLB All-Star Week, so everybody at Pike Place was paying this usually overcrowded area dust. There was a short line and I was in and out with all my merch and drinks in about 30 minutes, which is shorter than some of the wait times I've had inside airports and my own local Starbucks back home. I must say, they have a very efficient system from the time you line up to the time you leave. When I first lined up, one worker handed out pages with pictures and prices of all the available exclusive merch for sale that also showed what was sold out so patrons could decide on what they wanted before even getting to the counter. They also had a few crew members outside talking with patrons to help answer questions and make small talk to pass the time. They were so friendly with great customer service. Once you arrive inside you can take pictures of the inside and all the exclusive merch on display; however, if you want to buy anything, they keep that merch separate in boxes behind the counter (so they don't have to constantly restock merch). When you move through the line and snap a picture you eventually make your way to the other side of the store to order. They sell all of the drinks you can order at any regular Starbucks plus a few seasonal extras. I opted for the Oleato Iced Shaken Expresso, made with Olive Oil, Oatmilk, and Toffeenut since I knew I couldn't get it at every location. I also snagged several gifts for my friends and was able to use the stars on my app to lower the price. After leaving, one of the workers outside was nice enough to take my picture for me. All in all, I had a great time at the first Starbucks with great customer service. Their product everywhere just holds up consistently no matter where you go in my opinion and if you disagree with me go argue with ya momma about it!

Yelp
As a person who visits Starbucks EVERY morning it was only right that I visit the location that started the global phenomenon! It brought me great joy. The logo here is brown as opposed to the Green seen everywhere else, an ode to the history of the brand! The menu is pretty much the same however they do have a few souvenirs that you can't find anywhere else so make sure you purchase them! I'm so happy I was able to experience this!

Yelp
For anyone who is a diehard Starbucks fan, this is a must see for those visiting the Seattle area. It is the very first Starbucks built, originating in 1971 and is a bustling store showcasing it's iconic 45 year old signage (i think) from it's inception. There is always a line here...if you mentally prepare yourself for that, you won't be disappointed in the wait time. However, the line moves fairly quickly due to the skilled baristas that whip up your coffee drinks. Tourist trap or not, this was one of my bucket list places to visit ever since my friend Jen A. bought me a coffee mug from there. Thanks Jen! If you plan on lounging about with your drink of choice, book and laptop, this is not the place for you. There are no sit down tables of any sort. You basically order your drink, wait patiently while perusing for souvenirs, get your drink, snap a photo of yourself outside the storefront and then be on your merry way. There is always a staff member herding in folks a few at a time to avoid chaos inside the store and they are all very helpful and friendly despite the overwhelming flow of tourists that stop and and gawk at the store and original Starbucks Siren mermaid. Myself being one of them. But I digress. For those that want sugar-free syrups, I did not see that option available but I could be wrong. You also cannot do mobile orders for obvious reasons...first come first serve for those that wait in line. My friend made the mistake of doing that and ended up having to walk to the other Starbucks around the corner. I think I ended up getting a boring basic iced passion tea with no sugar while the hubby ordered a Cold Brew. We did buy a slew of merch to take home to commemorate our visit to our mothership, lol. Overall, we loved our short but happy visit there. 5 stars!

Yelp
You don't come here for the coffee (which is good), you come here to see the origin of a coffee giant. The shop is not big (as you'd expect), and the crowds are handled well. We only had to wait about 45 minutes to get in, and from the time we ordered it was only 5 minutes until we had our coffee, which was made perfectly! Great location, great team, great coffee!

Yelp
Staff: The staff was so nice. We were helped by Catalina who was great. Quality: Something very cool about coming to the OG Starbucks store. It is a relatively smaller store but wisely laid out. There is a line for just merch and drinks and then a line for drinks. Value: Pricing was acceptable in my eyes. We bought 3 cups, a cute little barista bear, and 2 drink for a price of just over $100 Overall: Given the history this is a must see. With 33,000+ stores or 15,000+ in the US - coming to the one they started it all is a cool thing to see. Pro Tip: Arrive early to avoid crowds

Yelp
Super excited to check out the Original Starbucks in Seattle! Came across this place over a Saturday afternoon and there was a long line. Stopped by another morning (early) and there wasn't much of a line! The store is cozy and warm. I entered and a staff greeted me explaining about the menu and the displays of products are not to be grabbed. Once ordered it'll be available at the counter. There's a line (closest) to counter to order when ready. Ordered the Lavender Honey Latte. It was delicious! Such a good balance of coffee and lavender. I've tried a few and this is by far my fav!! I also bought the exclusive coffee beans and the richness is perfect. Can't wait to go back again and grab more coffee beans!
