I can't say enough good things about the service at this restaurant. Alex truly cares about his guests. I was blown away by the service that he gave to the 2 of us. We had stellar reccs for wine and for food and truly enjoyed our time at Sonny's. Well done Alex!

The moment you step inside, you're enveloped in a warm, inviting atmosphere. The carefully curated wine list is a testament to the owners' passion, and the food is simple yet incredibly flavorful. I still dream about that prosciutto! The staff are the heart and soul of Sonny. Their knowledge and enthusiasm for their craft are infectious. It's the kind of place where you feel like a regular even on your first visit. The vinyl collection adds a delightful touch of nostalgia to the already charming ambiance.

We first went to Sonny's in 2021 and I couldn't stop raving about it to family and friends; we try and make it our go-to place whenever we visit Hobart. And last night, it didn't disappoint AGAIN! The wine board was extensive, and I sampled the gold star offerings (wine by the glass). With some guidance from the knowledgeable Kat, each drop fitted my palate perfectly. We "ate the board" so to speak until we couldn't eat any more, and then I topped it off with an extremely smooth local whiskey. This is definitely our happy place - the wine, food, music and atmosphere are in sync and we left as delighted customers. Thanks Sonny, we'll be back!

Each dish we tried was an explosion of flavor and texture, thoughtfully balanced and beautifully presented. The attention to detail is evident in every bite, making it clear that the kitchen here is passionate about their craft. The fettuccine pork verde was the standout, absolutely amazing! The wine list at Sonny is equally impressive, with a carefully curated selection that spans the globe. We opted for a bottle of Italian sparkling, which paired perfectly with the vibrant dishes we enjoyed. The service was outstanding, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming, ensuring that our experience was seamless from start to finish. This was our second visit to Sonny, and once again, it did not disappoint. The consistency in quality and atmosphere is remarkable, and we felt right at home. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Sonny is a wine bar you can't afford to miss. We can’t wait to return!

The service was wonderful, there was a bit of a line outside but we got seated as soon as a table was available. The waitress was warm and friendly, we had to stand for a bit next to the kitchen before a table was made available and we got to have a front row view of the chef making our meals. The food was amazing, the aroma of the food was intoxicating and so good! The menu had a bit of Mediterranean meets Italian cuisine. We had the lamb ragu, and a few entrees which also tasted amazing! The music was also a hit and the service was just an all round fun bunch. Definitely going back to this hidden gem! 5/5 💎

This place may not be for everyone because it is a very small space where you need to sit at the bar with very close proximity to other people. But it makes me feel different. The combination of food, wine, and mood is something I really like.

Great space, fun food and great wine. Favourite spot in Hobart. Probably one of my favourite venues in Australia to be frank. Every person working there makes you feel like it’s your space. Can’t speak highly enough of Sonny. Get there early (before 5) if you don’t want to wait. Even if you do wait you won’t be waiting for long. Thanks again team for an amazing time.

I honestly wish I would've gotten better photos but I was having so much fun enjoying my experience and food that I didn't care! This place reminded me of one of my favorite restaurants in Brooklyn while miles away in Hobart Tasmania. The vibes were impeccable. People were singing along to the record player that filled the room with sweet ballads and sing-alongs. On top of that the dining area shares a space with the kitchen so you pretty much get to watch as the chef prepares everything to order. Now, of course, there are some premade portions to the dinner, but nonetheless seeing the chefs precision to detail, timing and flow was such a treat. The service here was also amazing. My glass wasn't empty the entire three hours we stayed. And even though the menu was tiny, everything was so delicious from the oysters in the beginning to the herby pasta in the end. I had such a fantastic time here definitely will return next time I'm in town.

Stopped in here for a quick glass of wine before a nice dinner at Dier Makr. The vibe is great, record player, dim lights, candles, and tons of wine on display. Staff here is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about wine, wine making, and food. The wines by the glass change pretty frequently, however for reference I had a great Riesling and Rosé. Also ordered the prosciutto toast which was borderline incredible. The richness of the dish was amazing. Definitely a great place to enjoy a couple glasses of wine, and a bit of food!

Wonderful skinny bar with a couple of funky dudes running the joint. Amazing wine choices by the glass and bottle. Ask for the Tasmanian reisling Two Tonne. Or the Pinot both amazing. Cool vibes on the record player too. Well done. We will be back!
