Sofrito is a vibrant Heights hotspot serving up lively Puerto Rican bites in a colorful, nightclub-inspired setting perfect for birthdays and brunches alike.
"Thanks to its rainbow lights and salsa music, Sofrito feels a bit like a nightclub. This party restaurant in the Heights is great for a buzzy birthday or boozy brunch, although you should know most entrees range from $25-$40. To fuel yourself for the inevitable dance session, load up on the alcapurrias, empanadas, pernil, and churrasco. Definitely make a reservation, and see if you can get a table with a view of the George Washington Bridge." - marisel salazar, bryan kim
Richardo Cardona, Executive Chef, Chopped after the entrée, Episode 4.8, June 8, 2010
"Sofrito is a C-O-L-O-R-F-U-L party restaurant in the Heights, a bit like stepping into a nightclub, with its rainbow lights, salsa music, and super high ceiling with hanging colored fiberglass strings. It’s great for a buzzy birthday or boozy brunch, although a bit on the pricier side (most entrees range from $25-$40). To fuel yourself for the inevitable dance session, load up on the alcapurrias (a beef-stuffed taro root fritter), empanadas, pernil, and churrasco (skirt steak). Definitely make a reservation and see if you can get a table with the incredible view of the George Washington Bridge." - Marisel Salazar
