Yelp
Fast food for foodies. That's one of the slogans you'll see on a Snap Kitchen bag, and they aren't kidding. This is actually fresh, real food that you'll feel good about eating, and it's totally delicious, the kind of dishes you'd make for yourself if you had time to shop, chop, prep, and store it all. Guess what? It also doesn't cost much more time or money than a trip through the traditional drive-thru.
Are you a busy person who doesn't want to eat another heart-clogging greasy meal from a paper bag?
Are you trying to limit your daily calories?
Do you have food allergies or sensitivities?
Are you into all that hippie-dippy juice and ancient grains stuff?
Do the terms "locally sourced" & "seasonally produced" matter to you?
If you said "yes" to any of those questions, you owe it to yourself to check out Snap Kitchen (SK). This Research Blvd location is right on my way to work in the morning, and I love being able to swing in, get my lunches for the week, and store them in the office fridge knowing every day I'll be eating healthy while the unfortunate chumps in the adjacent cubicles will be scanning the vending machines for Pop Tarts or some such poison when we get called to work through lunch again.
Don't be scared by the sort of industrial look to the store, just go right up to the walk up coolers and dig in. The staff are friendly & knowledgeable, and the menu rotates seasonally, so you never get bored with the options.
The SK meals typically come in 3 sizes that correspond to a range of calories for a menu applicable to one's fitness goals. For my size & BMI, I know that the orange-boxed small entrees (roughly 220 - 320 cals) are for me. Bison Shepherd's Pie, Chicken Tikka Masala, Ginger Chicken Stir Fry, Salad Trio Mezze, Almond Crusted Salmon, and so many more, plus an assortment of salads and snacks, as well as fresh pressed juices. I've tried them all, trust, they are fantastic! You will recognize all of the ingredients and note from the nutritional breakdown on the labels that you are getting a well-rounded meal, with all the fiber & other nutrients you need for the day.
I've been on a big fitness kick lately: started wearing a bracelet that tracks all my exercise & sleep, doing a daily 2-4 mile walk or run, and religiously updating an online food diary. As a result, I've lost quite a few pounds and even worked my way up to running my first 10K at a respectable pace. There's no way I could have met my goals without the convenience of Snap Kitchen's food, but even if I weren't trying to lengthen my life through healthy living, I'd shop here. Just thinking about that Ginger Chicken is making my mouth water.....
