Skylight is the kind of independent bookstore that makes you wish Amazon never happened. They have a particularly deep selection of graphic novels, zines, hard-to-find quarterly's and journals, literary fiction, and art books. During non-COVID times we love attending their author events. This book store features zero ideological and political diversity. They only cater to one specific group, and one group only. Greatly disappointed. The staff were not friendly at all. A biased, agenda pushing, propaganda believing store.

This is such a delightful bookshop! It is everything you want out of a local independent spot. They have an eclectic selection, fun recommendations, and a passionate staff. Particularly the man with glasses and a Skylight hat really helped me come up with what to give my nephew for his 11th birthday and went out of his way to give my dog a treat. That's one way to make sure we keep coming back! :)

This is one of my favorite bookstores in LA. The location is great with lots of great cafes around for you to pick up a book or more & go get right into it. The shop itself is really beautiful. There’s a great gift section as you enter then a wonderful maze of different sections that are well curated. I always think I’m going in for one item then an hour later come out with more. The staff are very friendly & helpful with suggestions or to help you find that book you’ve been searching for which I haven’t always found in some local bookshops. They have a generous membership with discounts & specials too. If you go, be sure to check out their additional shop extension a couple doors down where they have their art books, comic books & more. I’ve been to most the independent bookstores in LA now & this is definitely one of the best.

I tried to book an event at this location several months ago. I initially did not receive a response, despite that they sell my books on their website. I sell books for charity to assist Jews struggling in Israel and Native American reservations; I stated this in my emails to the store. During my book tour on the West Coast in 2024, I decided to pay the bookstore a visit. I was met with such abhorrent racism and antisemitism from the staff, as I asked the store clerks about the unanswered emails, to which they snarled at me, "No answer means no!" This store is beyond bigoted and narrow-minded, with its employees' hate speech, its biased selection of books, and arrested thinking. Pathetic. I have since reported them to the Better Business Bureau. I will not be returning here.

I pre-ordered a signed book online from this store and my copies unfortunately got lost in the mail, but, after contacting the store the employees quickly fixed the issue and made sure that I got new copies that were even signed by the author! I was so grateful. Thank you for great service! I was happy I shopped small and supported your store even from out of state. Great shop!

Love the side by side book stores of Skylight Books. We stopped in today and checked out the selections. Really cool options that you don't normally see.

Very helpful staff and a good collection of books. I personally like their manga section in the annex, and the selection of non-fiction in the main section.
